I think the Fuji one is more frustrating than the Suzuka one. At least the Suzuka course doesn't have that brutal Sector 3 where all the corners there are awkward and a pain in the butt. That's my way of putting it.
Frustrating in terms of the Suzuka one is based on not only just skill, but luck as well. To get 130R right for a decent lap time, you need luck on your side to nail it. If you do, you are able to take a chunk of your best lap time off. I find it extremely difficult to take that turn consistently.

With the Toyota at Fuji it is purely based on skill. Yes, sure the third sector is frustrating, but once you master the cambered corners and the final turn to the best of your abilities, you will be able to lap that time trial consistently.

Yep, all I'm saying is that this is not because participation is low, but because people struggle with the difficulty
On a less royal perspective...
Fuji: 3.27% 17k-ish in the leaderboard
Suzuka: 6.15% 10k-ish

Suzuka is clearly a difficult one, and young, but 17k with only .3 from gold at fuji puzzles me.
I don't have figures to compare, but a was expecting something better in the leaderboard with this time

McLaren VGT at Suzuka is pretty challenging on controller with motion control. Got into current gold and wonder if I am safe with this time or not? @EbrahimX7 what do you think what time will be safe for gold, how much can WR be improved? View attachment 1343744

You aliens in front of me on leaderboard, any of you on controller or all wheel users?

@P-Courty I think we need to go for 10 - 1 - 10 on settings, or, what do you use? I tried with lower values but couldn't turn in quickly enough/on time.
Well i know for me 36.5 is possible but hard. because I had bottled chances for it. Someone else might get 36.3 i think but not sure

Wow it is HARD !! I have to say I love this TT, which reminds me a lot of the famous one with the MP4... I'd love to get a 1:38.xxx which I clearly could have, but this TT is so exhausting, I can't do it anymore... gonna get a shower instead ^_^

Anyway, 263th, and I'm only somewhat "safe" I guess, which should tell you the difficulty of this one.

so we have to exit and restart the session every 2 laps?? my god...wtf is wrong with PD?
You should be able to do 3 full laps before restart, that's what I do anyway.

Who the heck is (SZ_Goto25)? He's the current leader at Suzuka. I don't recognize that name.

I kind of figured out 130r turn (at least on controller). Let go drs button before turning and try to turn gradually and slightly to the left without touching the curb. If i lock the steering to the left the car will lose traction and slides.

Im playing with traction and stability off. Hope this helps controller guys out here.

Hi Dolph! Yeah, it’s been quite a bit since we’ve spoke. Things have been okay. I’m still driving a semi truck these days, for a different company. How have you been old friend?
I moved a bit further north to Indy about two and half years ago for a new job. Sitting around a lot more at a desk running payroll as opposed to messing around with pool chemicals the previous 15 years. My summers are much less stressful, I'll tell you that much. Other than that, these time trials have become addictive.
Trying to take 130R in this TT colourised

I wonder if he needed a new fire suit after that?

DS4 here too. I was stuck to 7 thousands slower than gold, and frustrated. I have 6 GTOnes, but thought "why not trying the rented car?". Mind you, it could just be a placebo effect, but I felt the car was more stable in off-throttle corner entry and even traction (TC2) was easier and smoother. Less than ten laps and from 1:33.495 I got 1:33.329. Again, maybe just a coincidence but who knows?

Nice and well done!

Well, unfortunately I’m already using the rental. No way I’m putting miles on my own pristine Toyota! 🙂
I like to think that the fact that it is a rental is probably making you more careless with the car, revving that sweet engine beyond red and cutting those curbs more aggressively, gaining you those extra tenths 😂

”Don’t be gentle, it’s a rental”

Wow, what a nerve-wrecking affair, but I finally crossed the line, at least for now. 🥳 Now I need a shower and a cold beer

1:39.470 puts me not even three tenths into gold land, and according to @EbrahimX7 it might not even hold, yet it's still good enough for the highest ranking on my friends list in recent memory (obviously it's not gonna stay this way). This is truly a weird one :)

Here's the lap:

I think I can go two to three tenths faster ideally. I'm quite happy with the first two sectors, but S3 is still my Achilles heel. I botched the hairpin here and went far too wide. Also tried @Dan_Tes magic trick for 130r, but couldn't pull it off consistently. Instead I am taking it conservatively, lifting quite early at the 100 board, but to be honest I don't think I lose a ton of time there, and this way I stay on the track 4 out of 5 times.

I can only encourage those of you thinking about giving up to hang in there. It's actually a really nice challenge once you get the hang of it.

Picked up a tenth of a second to 1:40.036 tonight at Suzuka, so still not under 1:40. Despite still being a bit down, I believe gold IS possible for me. It's a matter of putting all three sectors together, which I feel like I say every TT. I did figure out a safe way to get through 130R. Slight lifting didn't work yesterday. Trying to downshift using @Dan_Tes's method tonight didn't work for me either. A very, very slight dab of the brakes keeps me in the MPH range of 190's and - most importantly - keeps the car stable. Of course, now I'm messing up other parts of the course. One lap which was up a few tenths up on my best was ruined in the final chicane. I swear I braked at the exact same spot as every other lap, but the thing just decided it didn't feel like slowing down this particular time, and I found myself overshooting into the green astro. :irked:

This guy. He is a member of SCARZ, a professional e-sport team, along with Takuma Sasaki, a GTWS Showdown participant.
He was a finalist of Olympic e-sports Games (7th).

By the way,

Not bad for a DualSense joystick steering user, is it?

What is it about suzuka exactly that sends the aliens so far ahead. It's not the longest track....and yet they can just do so much. So many people on my leaderboard who are comfortably top 1000 normally not yet in gold. It's always a bit of an anomaly, especially with such a deranged car.

I also agree with the persons sentiment of turning some assists slightly on in such a detached from reality car, which probably would have some inbuilt trickery regardless.

my dear friend @Pesselles I come to you to tell you not to give up on this TT. I know he's tough and this car is real. But I know you're combative (you've proven it in previous TTs) and I know you can do it. If you don't have the gold medal it doesn't matter. On this TT having the silver medal (for us human beings) is like having the gold medal. So take your courage in both hands and fight !!!!! As you say so well ATTACK !!!!!

To throw in some proof on Jeje's truely nice words......

I went from 39.768 to 39.763 this morning........so..... am still off gold......🤣🤣
Pure hell...

I had multiple 45.5 splits before the hairpin what should be enough I think.... but yeah.....
Spoon and 130R....... 🤣🤣

have you been playing for a while now?
Hi Chris, thanks for the welcome. I've been practising divorce-threatening levels of GT since the original game was released, but during the last couple of years have been tempted away by a particularly splendid group of fellas who prefer PCars2. That's how I met Half.

However, the lure of VR has pulled me back to GT, and I have to say, despite PCars' steering being in a different league, I am freakin loving it! I really do feel sorry for those who can't get on with VR, it multiplies my enjoyment by 3 or 4 times at the very least.

Echoing many comments here, though, the VGT at Suzuka is a nightmare. Funny thing is, I thought I'd got 130R sorted, but it turns out I've been running with a flat battery and was going through it 50MPH below the "HOLY ***!" speed a full battery provides.

@EbrahimX7 Since you don't have anything to prove, why did you stop sharing the replay of your best time ?
First I thought it was because you wanted to share a "perfect" lap, but it doesn't seems so.
This is a community aspect that I like a lot, progress, by learning from the top ranked drivers.
I know, right? It kills the fun. It's not like there's a massive prize to be that serious, just bragging rights.

”Don’t be gentle, it’s a rental”
I don't think so, driving gently for me means being seconds slower. :P
I rarely play online, didn't know rentals cost nothing, so I guess most of the gamers post their times with a rented car as you do.

Maybe Jeddah wants to keep his replays a secret so nobody passes him in the rankings. That's my only guess and hypothesis on the subject.
The hypothesis is easily disproved because there is already somebody ahead of him whose replay is available. Therefore anybody who wants to know how to be as fast as or faster than him can simply look at the first place's replay.
