No, they are the same. If you've messed about with them, the BOP adjustment ensures your car is at the correct settings and PP.

I just rent them; why put mileage on my own cars when I can thrash and return theirs?
I don't really get the mileage thing. It's not like we're having to pay for maintenance (aside from some minor outlays every few hundred miles for oil changes...)

Over time (admittedly a lot of time), engine power becomes permanently degraded, despite refreshing it well before worn status. I saw that in the Tomahawk when I grinded that in the early days. I know the engine can be replaced. There is no right or wrong in this, just personal preference.

Also as a minor convenience thing, I find it easier to click the rent a car option when in the TT, so that I hold my current garage car, usually the one I'm using for that week's GTP_WRS time trial.

Speaking of which, if you want a change of pace, this week's GTP_WRS will be in the 2005 Mini Cooper at Brands Hatch Indy.

Oh, now that DOES sound like a bit of me.

Yeah, I get that. But the turn 3/4 transition particularly is so hard. You have to try and carry a lot of speed, but you’re vulnerable to bouncing off the kerb and losing the tail. If you try and lift a bit to compensate, you lose momentum. The throttle control isn’t enough on its own to get you through.
The other end of the deal is minimizing steering.

Very specific question, drivers that are on controllers, are you on TC0 or which setting?

Also would be nice to know, if someone is on controller and motion steering, what are your times?

I am chasing silver right now, need 0:200 for silver currently, challenging TT for me.

TCS 0. However, I reckon it's possible to get gold on TCS 1.

If you can switch it on the move, then just enabling TCS 1 out of the slowest right hander gives you some margin for error when accelerating out of there. You still want to be pointing in a straight line before you open it right up though.

I did 1:01.3 with TC 1. ;)

Thanks @dimassa19 Traction Control helped me too.

Almost 3 hours worth of attempts and i'm stuck at 1:00:526. Gold is annyoingly close, i think i'm wasting too much time at turns 3, 5 and 7
Similar. And I know there's easily half a second in sector 1, I just can't find the way to get through that first right-left. I'm quick enough on the rest of the lap. I just can't get all that time in S1.

One of my times is only safe by .024" now. THat being said, I don't hate this TT. If it drops to silver, I'll go at it again. I know I can improve because I already did on the 2 account.

We all know Gallo is going to have another run.

After a 640km session (about 1 million laps), I'm down to 1:00.353, and I'm so mad, optimal was 1:00.161 but to do it in one perfect lap... Ugh...

Aliens can destroy the gold time as much as they like, I will keep fighting and I will get my gold at the end :D

I got my time using auto trans and I'm starting to wonder if I'm not leaving a lot of time on the table not using manual. I've never done that or had to but maybe it's time to learn.
I can say, absolutely, yes. I've posted a couple of times in this thread about switching to manual. I got so frustrated with the Corvette at Watkins Glen, that it prompted me to make the switch after 30 years of using auto.

Give it time. Once you get used to it, it's very helpful. Not only does it make it easier to get the car to turn in, but the biggest advantage I feel is lessening the wheelspin coming off the corners. At Road Atlanta, turn 7 and coming out of the chicane are areas in particular that help to be in higher gear.

I've just had a look at the lap replay top of the leaderboards, good luck to anybody on controller getting a steering input like that:

20221213_001438.jpg

Not only is it a much sharper input than you can get on a pad at the same speed (by around 20% on max sensitivity) it's also pretty much instant rather than being very gradually put in like we get on the pad. It gets worse too, that screenshot is on the entry to the first part of the final chicane but controller users have the same slow steering everywhere so it's especially bad when you go from full lock left to full lock right.

If you are struggling to get gold on a controller don't beat yourself up, it's a two-tier contest and you're playing to different rules.

This is why you can't throw it in, you can't get the same yaw rate because there's a translation process between stick input and steering input in game. You've got to wait for the steering. I'm actually quick enough through that last sector (15.6-15.7) to make the laptime work.

I don't know if the motion sensing mode is any better in this respect?

That said, based on the video further up, I there's definitely a way to get a better response that I haven't got right yet. It's infuriating.

Called it. Gallo just did a 58.602. Gold is now 1:00.360.

Primary account just got knocked out. I'll be back at this one again.

The thing that makes this more frustrating than anything else is how horrendous the track limits are. Like, these people are virtually not even on the track and it's ok, then the very next turn it's like, oh you're a pixel off? .5 second penalty.
If this time trail was about staying on the track and actually racing road atlanta, people would be far less frustrated with it. I'm not talking about cutting a corner or rolling up on the curve, that's just road atlanta, I'm talking about full on nearly going off the track. Daily races on this track must be an absolute joke. They need to put up a giant penalty wall on the last corner of the Esses.

Managed a 1:01.39, still on auto trans, TCS 2. I'm fairly firm into silver. I was silver yesterday and got knocked out.
