I don’t get how they can drive on the grass like this 😅

Yeah, this one is feeling very much like a set of very GT7 specific, Sophy style “cheats” are required. I posted earlier about how I spin every time I touch the grass in T3/4. I’ve watched the top laps from every angle and I cannot understand what they are doing to avoid this fate.

I wonder whether PD should run Sophy on every TT, watch how it abuses the limits and then reset track limits until it takes a sensible line? Then we wouldn’t need to spend 2 weeks checking which alien can work out which bits of grass are feasible short cuts.

Managed to do a 1:00.075 lap today using a car from my garage. After the session, I went back to the garage only to realize that the oil was "worn".

Does anyone know if this could've affected the performance of the car? Or this "worn" effect is negated when BOP is active?

Yeah I tried following the line the top replay took at T3 and either spun or just went straight on if I tried using the grass. I could drive all over the grass on the entry to T6 though.

This used to be a thing in a previous version! I cannot quite remember which version or how is worked though. I am sure some one will though. It was certainly an exploit of some description if my memory serves correctly.

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Don't disagree here. I was surprised how much the top time(s) went off the track after T3, then how much they cut on the entrance to T5. Not to mention, when I see how wide they go on the exit of T5 my first thought was, "If I do that it's a penalty!"

T6 is pretty normal, but then you have how they take T7... which is downshift into 1st, get the car to almost powerslide, then upshift all the way to 4th. For me there is a bit of luck involved here as to whether or not the car will behave and obviously this turn his hugely important. Finally, cutting the heck out of the first part of the T10 chicane.

It all seems just wrong as no human would do this stuff in a real RB-esq car (let's just say F1 car). Anyway, whatever... I definitely knocked probably .500" off my lap by at least doing two of these things 'correctly' per lap. As they say, "When in Rome..."

As soon as I realized that Gallo and Busnelli are not going to stop their battle for the top (and our slow, painful torment :indiff:), off to the track I went again.

I really felt I'm capable to improve further despite my disadvantage of using the controller, and soon I realized that @Vule was so right - not constantly retrying and having the delta present at all times was so helpful!

So, I finished an hour-long session at 60 laps, with a 0:59.862

My optimal stopped at 0:59.622 but I have to turn into a godlike, which is not going to happen unless I figure I'm still not really safe for gold.

Can you post a first person video? I feel like I'm taking your exact line. I want to study this and find out where I'm missing 2 seconds a lap.

I would do some unholy things for a 21.1 S1 right now.

Another baby step but not enough, back to .390 away from gold, 1:00.688, and there's still hope as i'm getting better in sector 1,the grass is your friend
Pretty much in the same boat here.
On a Dualsense, currently at 1:00.6xx. Almost did a 1:00.4xx perhaps but messed up at the last chicane.

Worst thing keeping away from gold is S1. Did 21.3xx but only once ever.
Would kill to do 21.1xx or below. 😭

Mid-TT stats: This is the most difficult TT now (with a week to go) in terms of getting gold, getting bronze, getting any reward and the gap from 1 to 100. On the other measures (silver, gold+silver and proportion below 1%), it is 2nd to Suzuka in the MP4/4.

On balance it is at least on par with Suzuka in the MP4/4, but the massive increase in people getting now reward may swing this TT to taking top honours.

So I am thinking now, I might be wrong it would not be first time, but my conclusion, not only reading this table but all comments on this forum is that the faster the car and the more challenging the track is, with fast S parts, the more difficult it is, and more people on controllers have harder time reaching gold, (placements) in general. So it might be of course skills that are part of results, but it also might be that controllers just cant handle fast challenges like this one, Road Atlanta + GT Red Bull X2019, equally fast like players playing on steering wheels and pedals.
Maybe I am not saying anything revolutionary here, but Kaz did claim that game will be played equally on controllers and wheels, but, IDK, maybe it is not really true what Kaz claim?

It would be ideal if someone who is really skilled could prove if he/she can reach same times in with both wheel and controller?

(or I am just finding excuse for myself that I cant reach gold this time haha )

I dont know if this is answer for your doubts but for example Kie25 did 59.7 around 15 minutes driving this tt (he drive around 30km from what I remember from his video) and there are many pad drivers on his level or even faster like Antomix, Calster, Damian not to mention Daniel Solis who qualifies every year to world tour using pad and won 2 times manu. Most top times are on wheels as most fast drivers are interested in raicing and would buy wheel because 1) its more immersive and just more fun 2) you have to using wheel in world tour events and some have ambitious to be there 3) yeah its probably little faster (tough on some combos is slower !) but it doesnt matter for golding tt as we have 3% gap. Bigger influence on top times are using unrealistic lines (like almost whole car on grass etc), this aspect pd could improve in future.

Interesting jump there. Maybe they're just harder in general regardless?
