Have to get caught back up with this thread!
Only took 6 laps in one session the other day using VR, wheel, and no aids, ABS weak to gold it.
About 3 tenths under gold time - 3:41.683.
3:41.398 is optimal so could probably get down into 3:40.xxx range with some more laps. Who knows if that will happen!

Just throwing it out there, found some nice FFB settings that felt really good with this car on GT DD X.
And also uploaded lap if anyone's looking for a "slightly better than gold" ghost.
I think it's possible to follow ghost from uploaded lap.. ?

I'm 97 pages behind, xD. I'm trying to get caught up now. I had a 7-day stay in the ER and I was discharged Tuesday, June 4th. I'm almost at gold for the Civic TT. 1'13.205

I gotta find those missing hundredths like pronto.

Altho I stuffed up the Porsche curves AGAIN..
(My entry on the first part was completely off so i had to stay in 4th and my line was just off....) 🙈 I can still say i can sleep peacefully tonight 🤣🤣 And welcome myself in the 38's club whoop whoop....🤣

Personal goal achievement 😁

But I do appreciate that McLaren feeling more than when I started on this TT.
It even made me blast around the Ring with the F1 roadcar and it was awesom 😁
Even felt like shooting some pictures 😁🙈

Having (hopefully) locked down gold at Tsukuba and silver at LeMans last Saturday I've been enjoying spending my GT7 time since then doing my favorite thing...just taking random cars out for a spin at various tracks. It's not perfect, but the fundamental driving experience can be pretty sublime...

This morning brings a huge improvement after only 22km driven!
PB nearly 1 second down!

Direct capture

Again, I had some mistakes, but it was far the best lap from me so far...
If there weren't some super alien times from leader, I would be close to gold, now is 1.5s (too) far.

Any advice on lap?

@zaxs - great job on pulling a second out. If I may, some thoughts on your lap
  • take more curb in the first turn (Dunlop curve) to allow you to get the car straighter before you get to the first chicane
  • More curb required going into the Dunlop chicane... your line in the second part is good as you exit and you are all over the curb like a rash. Do that going into the chicane as well
  • Leave in 4th gear for Tetre Rouge
  • More curb through the 1st chicane on Mulsanne
  • Use 1st gear to help get the car turned in at Mulsanne and Arnage but 2nd gear before getting back on the throttle
  • Your line coming into Indianapolis is giving you problems. You're turning in too early through the fast right which is why you are on the wrong side of the road going into Indianapolis
  • Into Porsche curve, again road placement is your biggest problem - there's a green patch on the left of the road before the corner. You want the car to be right next to that when you brake, change down, and turn in. You were too far into the road and then turned in too late
  • You'll then carry more speed through the corner and can hook 5th before 'Virage du Pont'
  • Hold the inside line tighter through Karting
  • You can take more curb through the last chicane going in and coming out.... but there is some risk on the first part that it throws the car off
Not an alien by any means, but hope this helps

Hey, if anyone has a replay using an AT that got a time between 1'12.400-1'12.900, that would be good for me to watch, I can compare it with my best run to pinpoint where I'm losing time. I'm not depending on the aliens replays anymore as they are undulated and randomized. I can never duplicate what they do, it's bizarre and always blows my mind.

I'm not an MT nerd just yet, xD.

You can find replays in the showcase, by filtering on the car you are currently in (if you are still in the Civic) and you can refine the filters, by setting to "online time trials", you will see plenty of replays with the lap time, you just need to chose one with the appropriate lap time and add it to your collection, you'll be able to load it afterwards.

Yeah I read that before. That sounds awful, and a little scary! Hope you make a 100% recovery!

Overall, not too shabby. You can gain probably 2 seconds easily if you bring yourself to change the approach on some corners.

Point #1: You are braking too much at some corners. Not all of them require 100% braking (especially the fast sweepers). For example, Tertre Rouge, Porsche curves etc. You were doing 100% braking for those 2 places where you really only need maybe 20-30% to get the front to bite and rotate the car. Just Tertre Rouge itself you lost probably close to a second because of the long straight afterward.

Point #2: You were treating the enterence and the 1st part of the chicane as a seperate section. As in, you brake at the straight....do the entry....release the brakes, give it a bit of throttle or coast a bit then brake again for the next turn, than power out. The more correct way to do it is to treat the entry and the 1st part of the chicane as one single braking zone. As in, braking at the straight, trail brake into the entry, then hold the brake pressure (or slightly increase if you are going a bit too fast), then trail brake into the next turn, then power out.

Point #3: You were not abusing the track limit, especially during entry. For example, the Mulsanne corner and the right kink before Inidanapolis, you were not placing the car ALL the way to the left....as in 1/2 of the car beyond the white line. This really compromise the entry, making the corner much tighter than necessary. This hurts especially for Mulsanne corner since it leads to a LONG straight. As for the kink before Indianapolis, it compromised your entry for Indianapolis itself as the car was in the middle of the road instead of toward the right.

There were a few more places too, but fixing the above mentioned points should get you intp the gold no problem 👍

Ok, I will go take a look shortly after I eat lunch. Thanks.

Hi Chris, you can use my replay if you haven't found one yet.
I'm with a DS4 Controller with AT and my time is 1:12,302.

My settings for this event were:
TC 0 (yes, this is stable in this event), ABS weak, Countersteering weak (found it helpful here) and everything else Off.
Controller sensivity 10.

How to find:
Search for content in Showcase:
Content search -> Replays -> Keyword: "racing".

Search Options:
Car: current car (or Japan, Mitsubishi, Civic SiR - II (EG) '93),
Track: Japan, Tsukuba,
Event type: Online Time Trial

When I do this search it's the first replay in the list, (Date: May 30th, Username: myH88)

Hope you find it useful, good luck and happy lapping!

It appears (at least to me) that the last second is all about throttle control with this one. I was constantly reminded just how bad mine is. For grins, I tried TCS 1 to see if it was any better than my right foot. Obviously no ASM or CS. I could only get 1:11.650 with TCS 1. This should last the rest of the day for a @half_sourly silver as long as nobody wakes any more aliens up.

Final day at tsukuba . Was sitting on a 1.11.434 but decided to try for a top 100 for the first time.

Around 60 laps later I managed to get a 1.11.322 (144th) with an optimal of 1.11.198 (inside top 100)

It will not be this time

Second session was only a .007 improvement.

Well, there is always the next one.

Hi,

"I was constantly reminded just how bad mine is" - You too huh? That last corner has been my Nemesis here!

I have been chasing and, sometimes, in front of several ghosts up until that last corner. I have tried drifting. I have tried loose. I have tried tight. That last corner at Tsukuba will keep me awake at nights for a while now. Ugh!

Hats off to all of you for getting the final corner at Tsukuba "Just right".

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Job really kept me busy the past two weeks.
Was working on a project and traveling a lot, so sadly missed out on the ring.
But I assume I wouldn't have gotten gold there, probably not even silver, haha

But good thing is the weekend is coming up and I got the whole next week off, so plenty of time to tackle La Sarthe :D

Managed to put in some laps at Tsukuba Monday night.
Did a bit over 20 laps, into gold after around 11 or 12 laps, no further improvement after that.

Man, I wish I had more time for this. Absolutely loving that Civic.
Usually not the biggest fan of Tsukuba, but I like this combination. Really fits that little FF cars.

Well, this should be good enough and I'm happy about it for the little amount of time spent on it

Le Mans day 1 (as Free Practice and Qualifying sessions IRL)

I was supposed to struggle with it!
TT-LeMansF1GTR-almost.jpg

First practice, no lap guides, no manual tranny, just a feel for the car.
Felt sorry for #8 Toyota for missing out on hyperpole due to traffic and just blasted through those curves.

Sub 3:41 is on the cards right now and there's still a whole week left. Those kilometers are going to rack up here.

I managed a 3:41.2 on first attempt (5 or 6 laps) but got a free night tonight to get properly stuck in.

Hoping to get into the 3:40s, best case high 3:39s.

Le Mans has got me all excited!

Hey y'all. I struck the pot of gold.

St Patricks Day Illustration GIF by Curtains Cool

I ran 45 more laps and finally on Lap 44 I clocked a 1'12.886. My hands, thumbs and fingers are sore. I really want to keep going and get a sub-1'12.500, but my body is telling me I should stop. My main focus was to achieve the gold time, so really I don't have to do this anymore. I think I'll leave it at that.

@myH88 thank you for telling me your settings, I switched ABS and CSA to weak and the controller sensitivity to 10 and it worked finally. I knew I had it in me tonight. So this will be my 6th gold out of probably 90-100. I am definitely improving greatly everyday by learning tricks and stunts from you guys, I will never leave this community and website.

So, my plan Sunday is to begin the McLaren TT at Le Mans and see how I do there. It's been a long day for me, today does not seem like Wednesday to me.

Thank you all for your help and support, :)
