Ugh. First attempt at St. Croissant started ugly, though it did start to get a little better after some getting used to. Nowhere near where I would like to be and still need to learn the course. I will occasionally completely forget what corner I'm at and what's coming up next. :boggled:

@crome, awesome time on your lap. So your braking at the 50 meter mark at turn 1, I'm braking at 75-100, that's eating my time up, I'm not getting a fast exit. We have different braking points for T2, I'm braking at the 100 meter mark. Your handling all those corners better than me, you might not need to improve anymore, but it's your decision whether you want to or not. I always try to stay close to the curbing when I take turns, corners and hairpins. It's crucial for getting good exits coming from the turns. So enjoy your break. Take care, :)

After all the horror stories about this car I figured I'd give it a try. Got in my rig, strapped on VR and jumped in. I couldn't get within 10 seconds of gold after about 1/2 hour. Then I watched a replay and realized something was really wrong. I checked everything, and I was on wet tires! After buying some RS tires and using them, the thing felt like an F1 car. Golded it in 2 laps.

If you want to feel a really terrible handling car, stick on full wet tires and try it! I though I was losing it.. did I have a stroke in my sleep last night? Am I really this slow? How is Tidgney braking there? This car is a pile of 💩! 😅

Yeah, it's not bad at all on proper RS tires. No aids or anything, handles really nice actually- especially after trying it on wet tires for 1/2 hour. I think my best time on wets was a 2:53.xxx or something, not bronze though.

Lots of room for improvement...

Closing out the weekend with a final session in St Croix, and actually managed to dip below 2:40. Woohoo!

As I often do after reaching a significant goal set for myself, I did a final "victory lap" after this. It's funny how these often turn into my best performances. My state of mind changes, the tension is gone, endorphins are doing their thing, and sure enough I left the bridge with a 1:51.5 split, well on track for a 2:39.4xx lap time ... but of course I totally butchered S5 again with a 24.9, which was still good enough for a 2:39.9. In other words, there is already a new carrot dangling in front of me 🤣

I guess I will take a break for a couple of days and then decide if I try to attack again depending on both the global and my friends board.

So, your turn guys, see you soon ;)

Edit: forgot the lap ...

Well done Crome!

Very nice lap! 51.772 on the bridge is very nice!
You seem to do very well on this one! maby to well

ufo.gif

have fun up there mate :lol:

That said,

I too had another run with The almighty Baguette.....
What a frustrating morning it was, i had a bunch of realy :lol: good sector one's with even a few .6 on it but i had some REAL trouble coming up the bridge, no matter what i tried i lost a gazillion amount of time there or scraped the insainly big wing againt the wall..

Did manage to string some of the sectors together, but lost quite a bit in the middle..
So def. not a OPT run but i doubt that will ever happen , my S1 was descent with .776 but on the bridge i was .765 so lost quit a bit there but the right sweeper at the end of the lap went reasonable for once

So very happy to be in the 39's now a days , but for a combination where i'm def not the fastest ( which i already new from the start ) i'm quite happy about this lap, if i had not stuffed up the last corner it was even better
So celebrating a very short visit to the top 100

New test in Sainte-Croix :
Honestly, I didn’t believe it anymore !!!
It was impossible for me to approach my best lap of 2'40'897. Impossible to find the rhythm, the right braking at the right time, the right turns !!!! 🤬🤬
I was ready to throw away all the objects that were lying around. my reach, it irritated me so much.
And then I don't know by what miracle, everything came together and I crossed the line with a time of 2'40'664.
So of course I'm happy but to tell you the truth, not too much !!!! Some turns are very poorly approached.
So I have 2 options 🤔🤔 either I stop there for today or I continue at the risk of having something stolen in the house !!!! 🤣🤣

The croissant TT is a soul eating event....

Yeah, that just about sums it up, it's a mind-blowing event too.
It's not all that bad guys, it just needs a different approach then a mega slidy roadcar or a sticky car on rails.
But once you figure out how it is supposed to be driven it's not all that bad and actually quite fun.
Barareklam did hit the nail on the head, get it staight ASAP to be able to start accelerating, that's the whole thing with this Baguette, prevent understeer on exits to have maximum exitspeed.
so brake.....coast.....coast.....coast...... coast some more..... full send

I think I did well to continue a little without getting upset and by approaching braking and curves as calmly as possible and by accelerating when the car (or the boat) is as straight as possible.
I further improved my time to 2'40'567 with an optimal time of 2'40'333.
I'm not going to flood you with videos of my best laps next time, so enjoy if it helps some pilot friends here.

That is fire mon ami, a while ago you did suddenly changed your approach or something, or it's just the french baquettes, croissants and bouquet de crevettes??
This is a fairly fast and not that easy combo If you ask me, hitting top 500 is seriously a good job! Very nice to see you climbing up the board lately 💪💪

Thanks a lot my dear friend
It's thanks to you that I was able to go from 2'41'801 to 2'40'567.
I have read all your advice carefully, and I have radically changed my approach to this VGT on this circuit. It actually helped me a lot. And thanks to this community I manage to be well placed in the rankings.
And I thank you very much.:gtpflag:
I hope to be able to approach my world ranking record but it will be hard to gain 300 places !!!!. But that's not my goal because I'm having a lot more fun since this last update and it shows in my rankings. I would also like to congratulate you, my friend Jomar, for your consistency and your rankings in the first 100. 👏👏👏💪💪💪

Was up early this morning for a long drive up to Scotland (working away again for two weeks 😒), so jumped online to upload a replay from the AMG VC for another driver, and realised the GTR would finish before I'm back, so....
1000014759.jpg

Hit this time in 3 laps but decided to try to improve it because it was too close for comfort.

I had a 1:34.3** invalidated immediately after because I forgot to charge my back buttons (gear shift buttons) and they died midway round the lap 😂

As the back buttons are mapped to L3 and R3 it was a bit of a struggle to carry on the pace I had having to try to press the sticks in to change gear.

To make it even more fun, the controller I was using was also my back up as the main one was also dead 🤦🏻‍♂️.... The back up has stick drift on both sticks, the left wasn't so bad as I motion steer so didn't effect anything, but the right is mapped to camera rotate so was rather hilarious thinking I was going straight after a gear change but was actually heading to the grass or a wall 🤣

I still just couldn't leave it though and went back for another fun run with a moving camera angle and annoying gear change button positions, and I'm pretty proud of my struggle in the short time I had 😁 was certainly eventful 😅

1000014760.jpg

After sussing out the long braking and how to exit a corner fast with this, it was actually pretty fun to drive, although that may be the dizziness of trying to see through the constantly moving camera talking 🤣

I also have to say that the corner exit understeer wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from people's (I'm looking at you @Evilmuffin 🤣 p.s still waiting for your novel 😝) reviews, even though the real GTR I drove was 800bhp, it still didn't feel that much different.

If I had tried this on the weekend with my usual controller and back buttons charged, I think I would be in a much higher position and would have carried on pushing on this one, thoroughly enjoyed it for 25 minutes 😂

Hello friends! After a really nice weekend away with family it was back in the hot seat this evening; mission top 100 at Nurburgring sprint. I really like this one, lots of car control using weight transfer, brakes and power but when you get the GTR Moving around with its natural balance it’s quite an enjoyable thing to hoon around. Tucks in nicely with a dab of brakes and sport medium tyres mean slightly overdriving it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s game over every corner.

Smooth is fast though and any wheel spin seems to lose you loads of time which is odd considering the sophisticated four wheel drive system the R35 has! Anyway, rocketed into the 1:32s today with just the second half of that tricky first sector to crack: I might try once more but that delicious VGT challenge is too tempting I fear!

Brutal time mate... That's way out of my reach, I don't have that kind of patience

I almost snuck into the 32s last night, had a nice S2 split, got through the chicane quite well but took the last corner waay too slow, didn't want to risk ruining the lap, and lost at least one tenth... So .038 is where I stand now :D

Wow Dan, you must have been drinking a bunch of Monster Energy drinks to give you superhero fire powers, you once again blew this TT to shreds, way to go man!! I see you avoided that pesky rod thing. Well I feel like it's game over every time I go through Turns 1-3 and the very last turn before heading to the finish. I'm glad you enjoyed this but I didn't really find it that enjoyable. Probably because I'm not finding that secret groove like the rest of you guys are, but that's okay. I'm tempted just to stick with my bronze time even though I'd like to keep pushing like a bulldozer to silver.

Morning Folkies,

Had another morning session in the Baquette
I had lots of room to improve but had some real struggle to actually do it in one lap

My S1 wasn't that bad but had a moment in S2 so lost a tenth there due to some oversteer but still descent with a .8
But my S curve ( before the slow hairpin before the bridge ) was absolutely fire and gaind a lot on Tidgey so got some time back on the bridge ( after a descent run up there ) :) .... no .5 but descent .6
Last sector is still dificult for me, it just doesn't work like it should, so lost some time there, maby i chickend out a bit :lol:

But well... went from 103 back to 79 with a 2:39.369

Not too Shaaaabbyyy at all...

I couldn't care less. I will go EA WRC instead to get some Hyundai around the bend... Good luck to all participants!

Sounds fun, I currently own a Hyundai Coupe Siii and had Michelin Alpin6 tires fitted two weeks ago IRL 😂 the Genesis Coupe is the car I have been looking to buy IRL for a long time just the cost stopping me 😅

Will definitely be giving this one a go 😁

Hi guys! Jesus it’s been more than a year since I last posted a TT time 😱
I did some laps yesterday with the new GT-R around the Nürburgring short and I found that it’s kinda hard to get below the 1:33 mark. So currently with a 1:33.4xx.

Good luck everyone!
Welcome back, it's nice to see you time trialing with us on this journey, good luck everyone. I'm curious to know where our next TT will take place. We know it won't be St. Croissant, xD. It's too long of a track for me and I have to memorize and remember where all the turns/corners are plus I have to know the right braking and throttle points.
