Well, I'm back after a very long hiatus! August and early Sep was super busy with work, then I had a nice long vacation with my wife in Europe.

Finally got back in the seat for the first time in 2 months last night and ran an hour our so with the Genesis X on St. Croix.

Got silver on my own and was then able to gold after throwing up Tidgney's ghost to help me adjust my braking zones :)

I think I'll give this one another go or two before switching to the BMW. I just want to see if I can get a little closer to you guys at the top of my friends' leaderboard :)

It's good to be back (although I'm still not too pleased with how they nerf'ed the FFB on my Logitech G-Pro)

Spent a lot of time on GT7 today playing round in photo mode with the AMG VC again 😅

Then finally completed my daily miles (only just) with the BMW at DT.

Absolutely hated the car at first so decided to try having some fun going sideways.... That also didn't go too well, as soon as the car goes past the slip angle it seems to just slide sideways as if it's on ice and doesn't stop or even spin, wierd feeling.

No ghost chasing on this one, just straight in to try.

Into gold at the moment with 1:50.211 will definitely be going back for more of this one now that I have figured out how to tame it 😁

I based the car on my mates old E36 M3 even with the dual upswept exhaust (just for looks due to BOP), but forgot to send the pictures to my phone 😅

Replay uploaded, that's where this pic is from.

Can I get a 👍 from any Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel users who are in this corner of the internet pls? Group DM incoming as I consider moving on from my trusty G29
If the G-Pro's price gives your wallet and bank account hysterics, as it does mine, you might have a gander at this. If my 29, that I bought in Dec. '22 to go with my new PS5 and GT7 at that time, ever dies, I'll be seriously considering going Thrustmaster.

I went straight from controller to a logi pro, so I can't compare it to anything else, but I am blissfully happy with it! And now they have a (small) ecosystem with the rs hub; I've got a track wheel on order.

have you seen this thread: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/logitech-g-pro-racing-wheel.412554/page-156#post-14349079

Hello there 😎

I'm not sure if I've mentioned before that I really like this BMW....😅

I took it for a saturday night ride and managed a new PB. 1:50:460 simply lovely!😍

The lap:

I'm sure I'll come back to it and even though I had better splits in previous stints, I don't know if I can improve this time any further.🤔

Could I do a 49? Maybe, but I don't have to. I like the E46 more than this car but it's still very good when you don't throw it over the sausages. See what happens when the GT developers actually put some effort into the track design? You get something that's both interesting and challenging.

I think our friend @Evilmuffin uses the Logitech G Pro. For my part, I went from the G29 to the GT DD Pro 8Nm and I am very happy with it (good return on investment) and I saw the difference.

My progression was G29, G29 with True-Brake Mod, GT DD Pro. IMHO, the True-Brake mod made the biggest difference. If you are using the wheel exclusively for GT7 (as I am), the TrueForce stuff was originally a huge upgrade on the wheel, but the 1.49 update killed most of it. The pedals are a little better than the G29/True-Brake combination. The wheel is still better, just not as much. The thing that I like the most is the ability to adjust the brake response pressure digitally from the wheel. The thing that I hate the most is once a month at the most inopportune time force feedback completely failing to work, i.e. wheel works, but zero force feedback. Never had this happen with the G29, once a month with the DD Pro. Never had any experience outside the Logitech ecosystem. I didn't buy a Fanatec because of concerns about lack of support and stability of the company. I had a G29 fail once and Logitech, after some back and forth, replaced it. The price is brutal, the 1.49 update a real disappointment, but IF I had to choose again, I am not sure what I would do, but I think I would still lean toward Logitech. The thrustmaster is an interesting product, but very, very new.

Well, after making good progress through most of yesterday, I seem to have reached the regression stage of the process now! lol...rather than any concerns about getting into the gold zone my challenge for today appears to be completing a valid lap of any sort whatsoever.

After 300 long painful miles split over 2 sessions, endless sausage curb deaths, a few punches of my wheel, I've arrived at a 47.9!

Really, anything sub-50 just seems crazy impressive to me. The sausages and the frikkin hairpin are driving me nuts. I feel like I should be able to carry so much speed through that hairpin but I just can't seem to figure it out...

Hi guys (and Greek)

After few days +/- away from GT7, I came back to improve my PB with the M3 (1:52.546).

Before starting to lap seriously, I went to Buchloe to "vitamin" my M3 (yes, the livery is really important as everyone knows).

After a good session, I've finally entered into the gold mine (with a very very tiny margin):

1729436650271.png

Here are my splits (compare to Tidgney):

S1: 0:39.362 (+0.778) - I really need to keep speed in the looooong left turn
S2: 0:36.240 (+0.648) - The damn hairpin is killing me, no matter how I goes through
S3: 0:35.431 (+0.999) - but my main concern is really the last sector...

This is my first serious session, so despite the gap with Tidgney and some dudes here, I'm pretty much happy but there's a lot on the table.
I'll practice and learn where to improve my braking points, my apexes and it should be a safe yellow score.

The optimals are optimistic but I like that:

Unsolicited advice:
The hairpin needs to be taken much slower than I initially thought. About 38-40 MPH. (61-64 kph). You should be able to safely being to accelerate even if you are on the curbing as long as your tire does not hit the dip. So even more v-shaped than I originally thought.
The last turn leading to the start finish line: Once you cross the center of the track and are inside of the camber change, you should be able to feather the throttle to achieve 94-95 mph (150-154 kph)at the apex before accelerating.

Maybe something in my poor driving hints is of use. If not, do as most people, and disregard my opinions.

Ken

Call me psycho, pervert or worse things but I will confess it anyways.
I do enjoy VGT TTs :D

And this particular layout of st Croix flows really, really well IMO.

Almost always I leave once I get a safe gold but in this case, I will return.
I can shave half a sec I reckon so Im going to push some more this evening.

I went form G29 > G923 > G923 with pro Pedals > Pro Wheel and pro Pedals
What are you looking for with the upgrade?

If you are looking to perform better, the game changer are the pedals. You will note a massive change going from potentiometers to hall sensors and LC brake. Is night and day
If you are looking for inmersion you wont be dissapointed going with the pro wheel but dont expect to be faster just changing your wheel.
If your budget allows it, I recommend going with the full upgrade (at least the change was worth every penny for me).
But if the cost is too much, changing only the pedals is a big upgrade

My DMs are open if you want some more detalis.

Thanks so much for your "'unsollicited but very welcome" advice, Ken :)
I'll try to follow your path tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

You're most welcome ZEE  Yes, I really love the Alpina liveries in general, and this one is awesome.
Sadly, i forgot to credit the designer of this livery (a Swiss guy, as far I remember).
