Shant: looking sweet bro. Very GTA 👍 Was tempted to take the colour scheme and use it myself at one point, but you've done such a good job so far that there's no point ;) Nice.

I need a HUGE favor. Can one of you guys vector me a really big drift shot? I really need one and all the ones I do suck or the oens I find are way too small.

I dont know if I like these auto trace in AI pieces.
I think they look great!

So, how do you guys do this? I'd like to do one of my wife's new TSX, but short of hand-tracing it in Photoshop, I don't know how to start. Are you using Illustrator (or whatever has replaced Illustrator these days) and autotracing?

If so, is anybody willing to vector the image for me? I can color it up if I have the line art (I think). Thanks!

[edit] Well, having looked at the link above the Saleen, maybe I can't do it. So is anybody interested in colorizing it for me as well? I'd be truly appreciative.

tribal, i drew them in Flash and then colored them in.. its not that difficult, why do people keep thinking i fuggin bitmap-traced these .. if it were that simple, i wouldn't do it.. and it sure as hell wouldn't look as good or take as long.. **** people.. always assuming someone is faking it. :grumpy:

crap! .. i just noticed i missed a spot.. 👎

I'd be willing to offer but my end of year exams are just around the corner. My time on the computer is becoming less and less because of the increasing need to study.

If anybody saw my Spyker c8 Laviolette way back, this is it now, still incomplete. Just click it to go to the full size.

One thing I am worried about with vectoring is that people are just tracing the shape of the colours not the actual shape of the object.

Suz, I dont want to be the one to say this, but why waste your time trying to achieve something a filter in Photoshop and autotrace can do in AI?
Thats why people keep assuming that. Now you know why. :sly:

Alpha, you should finish that.

I notice that alot too. You dont get that with alot of peoples cartoon-style works.

I think I could do it, seeing as I have plenty of free time for the time being. If you could supply me with a reference picture (or I'll go find one, or you point me to one :D), I'll start work 2 days from now. 2 days because I need to reformat my PC and reinstall everything. :guilty:

:)

That would be great! I read through Donbenni's tutorial, and I think I could handle it (though not as well as you guys), but I just do not have the time. The pictures I have of my wife's actual car have lots of bizarre shadows from a tree on them, but here's a great pic to start with. It's even the right color!

I like the semi-cartoony ones with the nice fat profile line, but feel free to use your artistic expression. I really really appreciate it!

I'm sorry to hear about your computer -caught a virus somewhere?

Uhermm... this is a LONG WIP. I had finished it for a while, back in March or so, then I came back to it about a month ago. When I have a long time I just do a little work on it. The ground and BG are WIPs as well, placeholders. I need to trim off some of the reflection (look at the wheel wells, it's reflecting off nothing!). I might be able to hook y'all up tomorrow. :D

I need help on those reflections, those that are willing to give it to me. THe car just looks kinda transparent, instead of reflecting the clouds. aim at RossoCorsa288 or that MSN icon under my name, if you're 1337 and bored enough to help me! :D

Of course not! Your’s, donbenni’s, 'carbon’s and many others cartoon style vectors are brilliant but the realisticish look some try to achieve just end up looking filtered. I draw the objects then colour them around it's shape, not the shapes of colour themselves. Just tracing the blobs of colour is plain cheating.

I contradicted myself saying that some vectors are just coloured shapes, well after all that is essentially what a vector is but a successful vector is more than that and you know it.

The Spyker will be finished when I can put in the hard yards. I'm not happy with it because even though it looks good shrunk down the hidden details need the extra work.

neon_duke, the Acura is in very safe hands, under18carbon’s previous works speak for themselves.

Nice car Neon 👍 Glad Shant is sorting it for you, as Alpha says it's in safe hands :)

iceBurns: With your shading, try to make it look less airbrushed and more blocked colours. That will imporve it quite a bit. Next time, also try to spend more time on the lines and perhaps use thinner lines for certain areas to get variation and enhance the detail.

I'm definitely going to give this a try when I have some free time. That Ford highboy looks great! Thanks for taking a shot at this, u18! I'm eager to see your results.
