Haven't looked into this thread for a while. That turned out much better then I excpected, donbenni. Love the white lines in the wheels and the headlights are brilliant. đź‘Ť

Thx to imageshack.

Thanks. I AM planning on doing a tut for this new style. Kinda a detailed list of all the techniques i've found out over the last 18 months. Did you know that or is it just coincidence?
Just a coincidence :D

OH YEAH! IT'S THE HISINGE BRAKE PAD! :D đź‘Ť

That's very cool skip nice one đź‘Ť :)

Good to see you getting back into the vectoring scene after your unfortunate HD disaster GTJ. Looking good.

Thx don and skip.

Skip, looks very nice. :)

Yep, the crash sucked not only pretty bad, it sucked bigtime. :(

Btw Alpha, how's it going with your RX8?

Come to think of it I haven't opened the file in over two months. I don't know, I just lost interest in it although my love for doing an RX8 vector is still there.

At the moment I'm playing with photomode to get a base shot from which I can work from but whatever shot I take I'm never happy with it. Damn overly critical self.

Anyway, I absolutely love what I'm seeing so far, although the badges are looking rather sloppy đź‘Ž:(.

The original is in pretty bad quality so I'll see what I can do about the badges.. Yes they do indeed look sloppy at the moment.

And about your RX8, it's a shame if you don't finish it. :) Looked so nice in the progress you posted. Hope to see it final some day.

Photomode as a base for a graphic work, sounds interesting.

It's a very good idea Alpha đź‘Ť I used a Photomode pic as the base for my S15 drifting pic that i recently did. Once i actually go and buy GT4 (probably summer still though due to exams etc.) i'm definitely planning on doing loads of wicked angled shots and more drifting pieces :)

The first rule of Vector Club is:

1. Use a high quality photo ;)

I think they look ok, but yeah could maybe do with a little improving.

Ah, the myth that you need a huge, high res photos to do great vectors continues on....

Hey, if you guys like photomode in GT4, then the next issue of TunerZine is gonna be fun for you!
GTJ, youre doing good work on that Volvo, but why choose that car?

And a Fiero? Ew.

Come on people, there are a million hot cars out there.

:dunce:

Yeah, I guess sometimes you got to learn things the hard way. And even worse, the paint is terrible on the pic.

Simple, I like the 240 in it's basic shape. :)

Okidoki.

Small update, redid the badges more carefully and they came out much better. Thanks Alpha.

Not sure about the color yet. The original is in extremely bland/matte white. Think I'll try to make it red, should look nice with the bronze wheels..

Exactly, like the Ford Mustang. :P

Here's a secret (:D) WIP shot of something I'm working on. It's a complicated piece of crap, and who would've thought doing something like this would take so much time...

The base car is an Evo VII. Headlights come off a Silvia S15. A scratch-made custom bumper (took an effing long time, + no reference :grumpy: ). Custom GT wing. Not really my kind of car, but I gotta follow what the big boss wants, so....

BTW, Don & Visua, any tips on creating a widebody kit for the car? And I might have another question for you sometime later one... :D

looks great U18C..but I have a few gripes. The right side of the front bumper lacks any shape. You didn't continue the contours around the side vent and it just suddenly ends against the bumper line that you set. The canard doesn't look so right either. I think its just a perspective issue..that side of a car is always hard to to make lol.

The wing is fine..just a little high. The stand(for lack of a better word -.-) for it looks really long. And the last thing..the back of the car just kinda drops to the rear wheel. It looks kinda awkward as well. Anyway..looks good overall..can't wait to see the finished.

Ah, thanks! :D

I did notice what you meant about the front bumper one the right side, thanks for telling. I will fix that.

And about the wing, well, I was asked to position it "around the same height as the roof, and make it big". :indiff:

Finally, the rear wheel. Yup, that is a big mistake, silly me xD I'll probably extend it up further and make the wheels bigger, too bad I still don't have an idea on how to make it look like a widebodied car. :grumpy:

Thanks again mate!

EDIT :

Speaking on huge wings, I just remembered something. When I went to the Sepang F1 Circuit last Decemeber, there was this red S15 Silvia with a really, really, really huge wing (definitely (sp) almost, if not higher than the roof height of the car). The car was quick though. đź‘Ť

Here's a picture of the aforementioned car that my friend took :

Nice one Shant, looks really impressive. Ollie pretty much covered all i'd want to say, although i quite like the high wing :D Lines look really technical and detailed, good job.

No idea on the wide body, aside from chopping the photo with some phat arches i.e. Fiesta Concept Rally car, or the MG XPower. Just have to wait for Gianni to come along, he's the man in the know about all this sort of thing. His D1-esque Mustang had blown arches.

Vman/Oliver, its called a rudder. :D
U18, Thats gonna be hot! Im glad to see someone is starting to customize thier work for a change, besides me. +plug+ :D
Widebodies, custom hoods, chop tops are all relatively simple to do, espescially if you have a million Option mags laying around like I do to give ref. +plug+
Time attack widebody fenders that I usually model after have sharp angles. Where the fender meets the hood it usually drops down and slopes out, then immediatly drops straight down. That makes a sharp fender, ala my Mustang.
If you have wide fenders, well, you gotta have the rest. There is no such thing as just a wide fender, otherwise the car with be misproportioned.
You need to step out the skirts and door panels. Widebody skirts usually go an extra 2-3 inches out. Door panels have recessed or extruded areas that will help the rear wide fenders blend with the rest of the car.
For a custom hood, if you decide to add one, just go crazy. Scoops, inlets, reverse scoops, turbo vents ala drag cars are fun to add. Combos of these work too, ala C-West GDB hood.
And you will have to add shape to that right side of the bumper, as Vman said.
Since you already have the cabin completed, a chop top will only take 2 seconds. Just select your all the roof points and scale them down from the top anchor until you get a desired look. Just keep in mind, even though its a piece of art, you still need head room. :D Your seats will help you judge that.
I hope my mini-tut gives you some ideas.

Thanks, I took a peek at the MG and realised I did do things abit differently, and I probably needs tons more time understanding perspective issues and stuff. :dopey: Thanks for the help đź‘Ť

I need to start buying some of those tuner mags. Too bad they're pretty expensive (most are imported from the States) and the local magazines are nothing but rice and crap. đź‘Ž

Thanks for the tips and suggestions Gianni :D:tup: I'm still suffering a little with the widebody kits, I took a look at your Mustang, Russ' Scion and a few other cars (real ones :P) and I just whipped this one up based on what I think I can do... :indiff: The widebody looks like your Mustang one, that sharp angled ones. Any sort of comments welcome. :)

EDIT : I just noticed something.. took down the image and i'm working on it now. I'll post another wip later. :B

EDIT II : Bah, I think I'm done with it for now. :guilty:

EDIT III (:dopey: ) : Before I go sleep...
