looking good bondy .... very detail 👍
for your honeycomb problem, how about you create your own hex pattern?
it will be alot quicker than using pen tool
I guess no one care if there are some difference from original

the audi looks great; i bet it'd be easy for you to have it done before the end of the month ;) couple of days if u have a few hours @ night :D

omicron- have you done NEthing else to the CALA?

I've actually gotten as far as the vents and a few more lines, lol. This week I am officially an IT at my company, i've been going through with the current IT with computers, I havn't had much of an urge to do anything on a computer after fixing them for 8 1/2 hours a day, lol. Here's an update pic though.

i'll keep working on it, don't worry.

OK I been trying to follow donbenni's V2 tutorial, but I think i messed up when working with the layers and lines, and, well everything. This is what I got so far, and my lines aren't black or blue like I made them. Be nice, this is my first attempt at trying to vector/toon. (possibly last attempt too.)

Nice try for first time :)

I'd like to, if i may, introduce you to anti-aliasing. All of those jagged edges that surround the car can be completely (well within reason) removed if you have the anti-aliasing option enabled.

For instance if you select the marquee tool (M) or the lasso (L) you are presented with an Anti-aliased option at the top of the screen. This must be checked before you start working on the toon/vector, it can't be fixed afterwards. It will smooth all of the jagged edges (created with the marquee tool or the lasso) out when checked.

How come the lines aren't the same colour you wanted them? You can always change the colour of the lines now by selecting the lines layer and pressing Ctrl+U to bring up the Hue/Saturation option box.

Keep going with it, you'll only get better :)

OmicroN:

Cheers for the anti-alias tip, and the lines I have no idea. lol. I might just start the whole car again once I have time.

and on another note, db, where ya gonna finish Eleanor? lol Don't make me bug you about it. =D

Here's a tickler for you. Ive been working closely and carefully on the number plate for about 30 mins. I couldnt find the exact font for it anywhere, and didnt want to ruin it with not very clean letters, so i used the good old british number plate font. ;) i like how it turned out :P

Edit: Oh and Franz, im probably going to have to.:indiff:

Very cool bondy, you don't always want to be 100% like the origional, then it'll just start looking like an exact duplicate.

For everyone else, here's a little update, after about an hour and a half tinkering with this cala.
*EDITED*

To be honest, I suck at rims, anyone willing to make some rims for it, so long as they match the style? :D

I'm getting closer guys! lol. I don't usually finish my projects, but I like this one. I'm enjoying this one, it's turning out very well. The tires, yeah, the tread is all hand done, look closely, lol. The rims however, I cheated on, because I HATE doing rims, I used that antisotropic method on these rims, gives it a more cartoony look, lol. C&C appreciated, need to know if you can spot any flaws I may have missed.

PS Stumpy, good luck, get that stuff fixed and get back in the game.

OmicroN, that is absolutely amazing! The carbon fibre detail, the glossy paint job with its shadows, highlights and reflections, I'm speechless!

I'd be interested to know what resolution the originals at...

Thank you very much, that's the stuff I like to hear :P

Believe it or not, but the origional resolution is right there. Everything that i've been working on has been in that size, it's a little bit of a pain, but I couldn't find any bigger picture.

Fantastic work on the Cala!

It's only missing 1 vent and the badge though it's so much better than I can accomplish. Everyone keep up the great art.
👍

donbenni
OmicroN that is great! The colouring down the side is perfect. Are those rims finished?

Suz: Beautiful :) Photoshop?
Thanks, The rims I just did as a "real quick" thing, only took a minute to copy them and use the antisotropic filter. It would still be cool if someone were to make some rims for it, I am really no good at it. I bet ya think  I can make the car look like that, but I can't make rims, it's dumb I know.

Well since some ppl have tried to do toons i decieded it was time for me to to TRY one , and after about 2 days YES 2 DAYS! , im finnaly fed up with this thing  i hate it so much im probably never gonna toon again EVER so this is my FIRST and LAST hehe , anyway i have DEEP respect for all the tooners out there now Donnbenni , Pheonix etc etc GREAT respect for you guys doin this its just to time takin imo hehe ,

well Anyway i decieded to toon a car no one has touched before its a VECTOR W8 from 1992 itwasent the GREATEST hit back then with no clucth and only 3 gears and a chevy engine , but imo this car is outstanding lookin and Deffo something i would buy if i had the chance there are only 15 LEFT in the hole world so i think its pretty uniqe , anyway ive used alot of effort on the bodyon this but the rims just fed me up so i just rushed them as i said " THE RIMS ARE RUSED I DONT CAR HOW THEY LOOK" hehe , its 100% BRUSHED EVERTHING is excoet the damn background , well hope you like it anyway =) cheers peeps

Excellent work and an appropriately named car to 'vector' as well ;) *lame*

It was only a matter of time before the expert choppers started tooning. 'Brushing' is very similar to tooning really :)

Impressed.

Heh, a vector of a Vector in front of the Mclaren HQ, if your brushing was in B&W, they'd look like toons.

Vector vector 👍
I just can't believe Glacius doesn't have enough patient to perfect a vector
compare to his excellent brushed chops ... that sounds a bit strange
maybe he hates vector (I mean the car ;) )

Thanks DOn well yes it kinda is but OMG its so time takin its like u know the outcome but it takes ALOT of time to get there, its hole diffrent with chops cus i design my own stuff and i take it as it goes along heeh

and no Franz i LOVE THIS CAR , but it just takes to much time to toon :P

thanks all for you nice comments =)

Nice brushing there Glac 👍 looks very smooth.

I agree it does take a long time but when u really want it to look good and have nothing better to do its great! :)

Ok a little progress update, not working on this anymore tonight because its 1:34AM GMT :dopey:

Tried a little brushing and some gradients for the wing mirror ;)
