Just seen a couple of pictures of the Gen-2 Persona NGTC out for practice run at Snetterton. I'm impressed with Welch Motorsport!

Indeed, not a bad looking package!

And they've only done some straight-line shakedowns prior to this weekend. To only be a few seconds off the pace is very impressive. 👍

I was there today, have to say the Gen-2 is really impressive. Looks and sounds the part too!

Anyone saw the 180mph ice cream truck that's having a race with one of the airwaves' focus.

Wrathall and Dynojet have done an awesome job this year, gutted they missed out on the podium in race 2 but great to see new teams, cars and drivers come into the championship and become competitive half way through.
Now Rob Austin just needs some better luck as that Audi has shown similar potentional and was in fact showing more speed than the Toyota earlier this year at Oulton and Croft.

The championship fight is still amazingly close, anyone could take it from the top 6. Personally I'd like to see Mat Jackson crowned champion and he's doing a great, consistent job this year. Typical Plato taking Neal out though.

Anti Plato bias much? That was a 50-50. Jackson was weaving about all down the back straight in race 1 and didn't get punished for it. That I don't like to see.

Didn't see the Jackson thing, but Plato definitely could have given Neal more room, Neal was still on the grass when he punted him off so his argument doesn't wash.

Fine and points on his race license is fair enough.

Good day, nice new layout too.

Jackson was "weaving" like that every lap, so I'm not sure it was anti-slipstream weaving - I think he was just trying to get heat into the tyres or something. He was doing it only at the end of the straight just before the Esses. I thought the first time I saw it that he was weaving but because he kept doing it over and over and only once before the corner, it looked odd to me.

Of course I'm biased against Plato! And against Neal! How is it possible for anyone not to be biased against them? They are always involved in these moves, especially on each other! To think it was some accident is naive at best.

I don't think Jackson is clean as clean either, is any BTCC driver? I just would prefer a different champion and Mat is a likable fellow.

Move of the weekend: Flash taking his front wing off deliberately on the trackside barrier to avoid having to pit for mechanical damage...

Also, looks like the new Snett can provide some great racing. Pretty long circuit now though, two minute laps.

Also also, great to see how some of the more unusual cars - the Avensis and Audi, to be specific - were far more competitive this weekend. Obviously the summer break was helpful for them.

I only noticed Jackson weaving when there was someone close behind him!

Anyway if the governing body lets the drivers get away with dodgy moves then they have only themselves to blame don't they?

All this punt to pass rubbish is a very modern development by the way. It used to be frowned upon and punished back in the manufacturer era.

Have to admit, I'm not keen on that either. There are a few drivers out there who regularly give someone a tap in the braking zone and then sneak through on the inside. It's a bit of a below-the-belt type move and not really what I like to see. I don't mind a bit of rubbing or the occasional banzai move but knocking people out the way on hairpins is a bit cheeky.

Hey, hang on, I wasn't complaing here! I was simply unsurprised Plato had once again pulled a dirty one. Even less surprised to hear him come out with a pathetic excuse/reason..and not to mention effectively lie.

I have no problem with the contact that goes on in BTCC currently - and its not a "modern" thing or a "new" thing. This has been a problem with the series for a long, long time. Easily its been 20 years or more now its been seen as acceptable to take your title rivals out with excessive contact.
This is now how the BTCC is, if you don't like it, don't watch...but its certainly not a new problem.

Its actually notable that Plato was actually fined and had points on his race license.

Like I said: I've no problem with contact in the BTCC but there's a difference between an occasional clash or a heavy-handed overtaking move, and bumping someone out of their braking zone as your #1 method of passing.

I don't even think Plato is the worst at that move, there are a few other drivers who do it quite regularly. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of the series but it is a bit underhand.

The start of race 3 was different, I'm fairly sure that was just a racing incident. That new hairpin second corner seems to get pretty tight at the start of a race and a mistake by someone further back can result in a train of cars nudging the one in front. I'm fairly sure someone three cars back originally started that.

I'd even go as far to say the race one Plato/Neal incident was "just racing". First corner at Snetterton has always been a bit hit-and-miss for passing and it's two drivers who don't want to give up their line. If Plato is on the inside and Neal misjudges by turning in too tight or too early, then any contact is either both of their faults, or neither and just a racing incident.

I think this one a few years back was more dubious between the two of them...

I think you mean race 2 - where Nash mis-judged his braking and therefore shunted Wrathall who in turn shunted Shedden who shunted Plato. That was a simple racing incident and it happens a lot in those types of corners, such as at Druids at Brands Hatch. The so called "concertina effect".

Sorry yep, race 2. I agree, that happens a lot. Lots of cars, not a lot of room!

Did anybody even watch the 2nd race of WTCC in Valencia? Oh my God that was the worst race for BMW drivers! They had a chance for an all BMW podium but all 3 drivers have no brains especially Villa... And there it goes, Chevrolet the constructor winner.

But that was a very silly race. Sorry just can't control my anger.

Yup it was retarded, but inevitable almost, we no longer have the luxury of the BMW's acting as a team! As if it wasn't bad enough that Coronel and Villa stuffed each other up, Michelisz's spin on the last corner was just embarrasing.

Yeah i was so much hoping for Tom to finally win his first race this year after comming so close several times...but Villa once again does something caused by his emotions rather than his(lack off)brains... 👎👎

Well the constructors championship going to Chevrolet was inevetable anyways, but at least the BMW's could have made that happen 1 or 2 races later than today... :grumpy:

spy.

Should have watched btcc instead ;)

Had planned on being there actually, but as a weekend away it was going to cost about £350, so I opted for DTM at brands instead, then got gut-wrenching illness on Tuesday last week and spent the weekend in bed instead... still I watch the BTCC, WTCC, WSBK and ALMS instead... oooh.. NASCAR's on at Midnight..

If you ever fancy the trip let me know and I can let you know of a few cheaper places you can stay. Sometimes works out cheaper when the race teams bulk book hotels aswell.

I had ringed it as a 'definate' for this year, after I enjoyed last years first-time trip to Knockhill. Found a really nice campsite 1 or 2 junctions up the motorway However, this year I'd be doing it on my own, which doesn't bother me so much - except not being able to split the costs 3 ways... that and the fact last year I did the 9 hour journey in my LPG 5 Series Tourer and it only cost about £90 in Fuel... this year would have been my 328i, which would have cost around £200.

Would have been a good crack today so I'm a bit gutted, but since I was ill anyway :indiff:

I hope next year it doesn't clash with DTM again, as DTM would take preference now with BMW entering.

I have it recorded at home so will have to watch it, apparently Emma in the mini got coverage we got a text later saying these race drivers do anything for tv coverage lol

I did think of you when I saw a Mini spun out of the race with Bruces Taxis on the side.

Was at Brands Hatch today watching Plato close up the championship gap. Guests of team Aon, so me and work mates had a fantastic day, including watching race 3 from the garages :)

I watch the DTM race in Valencia, it was just uninteresting. However, congratulations to Martin for a great drive yesterday and winning the championship...

Hopefully with the arrival of BMW and a brand new regulations could change the play a bit.

It's not a very good circuit. It's popular with Formula 1 teams for testing because the climate in Spain is fairly stable year-round, and also because the circuit has a variety of corner types whilst remaining fairly moderate in terms of downforce and setup requirements.
