I can't believe Anthony Reid passed Neal without Neal trying to destroy him.

Great vid though.

Post script: You'll enjoy this hfs. Lovely 1994 Mondeo! The scream from Rouse's engine as he chases Cleland... and Radisich's pass on Winkelhock through Church!

Entertaining racing, still plenty quick enough, and I can't believe cars of that spec are too expensive to run, even compared to the modern NGTCs.

No doubt because you would be looking at a reshell after each race.

You would be amazed at the money that goes into even finding the tiniest of an advantage and some stuff is really subjective in the way the rules stand.

I also spot to ginetta last year about a G40R someone said it would be 20k to run a season so spoke to ginetta directly to hear it from them and they said no your looking at 20k per race weekend! If you take that figure and compare it to my friend who runs a 750bhp evo 7 a 410bhp evo 10 and a mini cooper his race team is a bargain per season compared to that.

Another friend with a 997 cup car also took part in the Porsche cup at silverstone and every time most of the other teams went out they were putting brand new tyres on which is around £250-£300 per corner so your looking at 2 sets per practice 2 sets in quil and 1 per race and there was 2 races so say £13k a weekend?

He bought one set on the Friday race them all weekend and came 5th out of 40 odd cars

5th from 40 on one set? Impressive.

Big budgets are the demise of ever good series. Supertouring. Group C. Old DTM. Group A rally. (Granted, the horrible Lancia accident played a significant part in the downfall of the last one)

Yeah he's pretty handy, does the Scottish Tarmac rally championship in an evo 9 and did the Paris - Dakar rally in a truck a few years ago so has a nice stable of cars.

Just double checked the results he was 7,6,7 out 37 cars.

Surely you mean group b with the ford crash?

You're spot on with Group B, error on my part. And of course the infamous RS200 incident, although I was referring to the Lancia S4 and the death of Henri Toivonen.

Hmm interesting olie Jackson in the amd golf, neate to rml with them building an ngtc cruze but th Motorsport with the skoda losing their main sponsor :( that was one car I was looking forward to seeing.

Some stonking rumours going around Autosport International yesterday to do with drivers and teams. If any are real it'd be fantastic!

No link, just all from speaking to people.

Also of interest, Shuan Hollamby (AmD) told us that there will be NO N/A cars on the grid next year. All cars will be either NGTC/Turbo or S2000/Turbo.

He said the way it will be 'equalized' over the season will be done every 3 rounds. Boots will be reduced/increased depending on how the three rounds went meaning by mid to late season the grid should be pretty close. One thing he did say though was that the speed trap indicators wouldn't be taken into account, the changes would be based more on lap times, consistency and positions. So inaddition to success ballast you may also receive a small boost reduction... or the other cars get an increase.

Whoops. My fail.

Misread that as the Autosport website.

Ah, there's always some sort of gossip going around.

Alberto Cerqui to race second BMW320TC for ROAL, alongside Tom Coronel.

Great news as far as I'm concerned, this news will keep my interest in WTCC this year.

At a guess - is one of them Jason Plato to 888 running MGs? Thats the current big one doing the rounds.

Spot on. That was the biggest one. It's of note that Plato is there in no real comercial capacity. No RML t-shirt or anything. No real strong backing to the rumour they're building a NGTC Cruze either. Plato said he's got a 'number of plans' so we'll see.

Great news! More BMW drivers is good, but bad is they're not working with each other to take down the Chevys - hopefully it's different this year with the help of Alberto. Alberto's history looks pretty good and he has been a regular for BMW in the Superstars V8 Series in 2010 so I believe he has the experience in one of these RWD car. He's also pretty young at 19.

Well the cat is out of the bag in the BTCC for Chris James' ES Racing:
Chris James
Well the cars will be with us within 5 days, and the first initial is in the 2nd half of alphabet!! ;-)
Chris James
can't give too much away! & anyway you know what they are!!! Don't you? S for Skodas is in 22nd half of alphabet isn't it!?

Ex-888 or ex-Eurotech Vectras it is then.

John Thorne is racing his Insignia and the second shell is ready, but they are for him and ThorneyMS.

Unless he's got his hands on two Insignias? Maybe a pair of MG's? Or could be Skodas?

That or he is no longer running FULL spec NGTC's. The strong rumour was 888's Vectras. Maybe he even has his hands on some Toyotas?

Thorne himself has mentioned on several occasions that they have the ability to build more cars for customers and have offered their services to several teams.
Rob Austin has also said similar things about the Audis - they can produce some for customers if they are interested.

So it is entirely possible that he could have landed some Thorney-Insignias. But I'm fairly sure that they've got Vectras as Chris has stated they have got cars of "race-winning" pedigree. Seeing as no full-NGTC machine has won a race yet, its pretty clear what cars they've got - depending on whether everything he has said is correct.

There's also the issue of him saying that they have the ability to run 3 cars - now I believe 2 Vectras were meant to go to a new team, TGR, but nothing has been heard from them for a while now, so maybe that entry has stalled. Obviously its quite possible has had 3 NGTC shells built too, but I'm inclined to think he doesn't have the budget to fund full-NGTC. It would be quite the turnaround in fortune to go from distant backmarker with an old STCC Lacetti to 3 brand new flashy NGTC machines!

Either way, ES Racing are providing some decent off-season discussion! Pretty rare for BTCC lately.

Thats possible, but Thorney said he only has the two at this moment, the second isn't fully complete yet.

I am also sure he has the Vectras, but I was just remember him saying he has full-spec cars. TBH with you I don't think he even knew what he'd be driving when that news was released, I think it was just to put something out there. He's said often he had a 'few plans' maybe he did have a deal with Thorney/another team which didn't come about.

As you say TGR look off the map atm. When I last spoke to them it was all dependent on a major sponsor which never seemed to materialize, but they were after 888's Vectras.

I agree with you re budget too.

And yes, last few season's its been about who'll drop out! Good to have a good discussion about deals and rumours!

Everybody forgetting dynojet upgrading to the new avensis therefore leaving a couple knocking around also neate has been confirmed to be going to rml with them building an ngtc cruze.

Confirmed? I heard he only had a test with RML but other than that nothing has been mentioned on Neate. Thompson has had tests with many teams and has not raced for them, so drivers testing with teams doesn't necessarily lead to them being signed.

A post on TcT by a member which did not relate to the article which was about the completion of a test by RML of a 1.6L Cruze for the 2012 WTCC said that JP could be running in a 888 ran MG.

You need a driver for the Btcc Test,But now JP is going to MG(888) the money has gone too.Next week the man from China will be in the Uk so the deal be official.

I've just been told that Neate will partner Plato @ 888 with MG's.

Also @Ardius, ES Racing have bought Jordan's and Smiths Vectras

The 888 Vectras have also been bought, but news about that later...
