I went to DTM last Sunday. What a **** race! Looking forward to watching Knockhill BTCC highlights, as InvincibleM5 said WTCC was disappointing too. Thank God for support races, the Lotuses, Formula Ford's and Abarth's were brilliant at Brands.

Yeah, DTM these days is pretty terrible, I wouldn't even really class it as Touring Cars these days simply because they are fully blown race cars with huge amounts of aero.

BTCC still has top honours, oh and the brief glimpses I get of the Argentine TC2000 series.

I'll agree with you on the DTM cars. They're pretty much silhouette cars that loosely resemble their road going counterparts. When I heard about Trans-Am coming back a couple of years ago, I had some visions of racing action using the modern day muscle cars like what's sold in showrooms. Instead, I found out they're staying with the race-purpose silhouettes like in the more recent years before the series originally folded up. :(

Maybe in 2011 at Brands Hatch, the DTM should race the full track instead?

I like DTM racing much more than BTCC racing because the cars are proper racing cars with silhouette bodies. I like All Japan GT GT500 racing for the same reason.

DTM won't race on the GT track at Brands Hatch because they want the cars to be visible to the crowd for the largest amount of time possible. The organisers said so when asked this question last year.

Hi, I'd like to know if anyone know where I could get my hands on some classic 1990-1999 DTM DVD's?

I've tried on the official site and they only have the last 6 years (2003-2009) I've seen a lot of footage from the decade before so I know there's a DVD or VHS out there somewhere :indiff:

I just love the BTCC races. I went to Brands Hatch this year but the weather sucked so hard, it was raining sideways. Should be trying again next year.
DTM is a bit to clinical for me. The racing isn't really there and when it is they have damage way to quickly and someone drops out.

Donington Park this weekend. A track I love, and presumably we'll get to see some of the improvements. Plato has a 20 point lead. 33 points between Plato, Neal, Shedden and Onslow-Cole, with the fast circuit ahead, Ford could be strong here.

It's been a brilliant season and I expect this weekend to be nothing different. I don't think the title can be won this weekend, but it can certainly be lost.

Apparently the Melbourne Loop section needs repairing and the infield is a complete mess still, so I doubt we will see many spectators for this one. Its pretty much just about in running condition by the sounds of things.

I'm just glad it hasn't been lost forever. 👍

Won't ever forget this:

Donington was the first circuit I went to and it's still one of my favourites. Always produces good racing in any series. That 1998 race was one of the best motor races I've ever seen. Those last ten laps or so were unbelieveable.

Edit: And while I think on, renderings of Toyota's upcoming Avensis BTCC car available at http://yfrog.com/f/mquwrj/ and http://yfrog.com/f/4940xhj/

Amazing racing as per usual, the Porsche's were the dullest race for a change!

Glad to see Formula Ford's finally on the schedule too, Josh Hill has been more impressive than ever before. Some great racing from him, shame about the early exit in race 3. 👍

The BTCC was close as usual, some bone-headed driving around but even so exciting stuff. Its a little annoying to see Plato hang on to a decent lead as he's all but settled the championship in my opinion. Something has to go really wrong at Brands for him to lose now. I doubt we will see a repeat of the 3-way of last year, but there's always a chance I guess.

I think it's between him and Matt Neal, remember, it's easier for Honda to manipulate the races than the other teams with both drivers up there all the time. I think Ford will struggle at Brands Indy. Plato will need some kind of problem I feel though, credit to him, the 2nd race was a fantastic drive.

Honda haven't had much chance to play that card though.

Aon have already screwed Onslow-Cole out of the title, its pretty pathetic. 👎

24 points is too much for Onslow Cole to gain, how many points did he lose to Chilton?

Well, the points go 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1. So he lost 3 points for Silverstone race 1 and 5 points for Silverstone race 2. He should won those two races.

He also arguably lost points at other points of the year, particularly Donington seemed rather suspicious.

But I really refer to the fact that it appears he isn't allowed to do well when Chilton is around, which he invaribly will be at Brands.

Ben Collins will be racing for Airwaves BMW at Brands Hatch next weekend. Could well be a wet one too.

If he's not dressed all in white I'll be disappointed. I mean, it's a marketing tool for Airwaves, surely? They could bring a six-foot long box of airwaves to the circuit, and when they open it the drivers both come out in Stig race suits like giant pieces of chewing gum.

No? Okay, never mind...

Ben Collins and Rob Huff would be a nice way to finish the year, we just need Thompson then in the NGTC Avensis. 👍
Having Ben Collins in there is great as I can persuade more people to watch it if they can see the Stig actually show his skills in real life. I'm very interested to see how well he does, as he's meant to be pretty decent, he's just not really achieved much as far as records go. I want to see if thats because he isn't good enough or if he was just unlucky with sponsorship, etc.
This weekend works out quite nicely too, as I can watch the Japanese Grand Prix in the morning and then ITV4 for the rest of the day. 👍

Speaking of which:

Brands qualifying live on-line

Qualifying for Brands Hatch’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship title-decider will be shown live on the itv.com website.

For the first time, UK-based fans will be able to watch BTCC qualifying via the website during an on-line broadcast that will run from 3.00pm to 6.15pm on Saturday 9 October.

The session will be the most crucial of the season as it will determine the starting grid order for the first of Sunday’s (10 October) three races that will decide the outcome of the BTCC title. Jason Plato, Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and Tom Onslow-Cole will all go into the event with a chance of being crowned champion.

The link to click on to view the coverage will be www.itv.com/touringcars – this is the itv.com site’s regular BTCC page that already includes highlights of every race this season plus round-by-round podcasts hosted by its expert commentators Ben Edwards and Simon Hill.

Furthermore, the same BTCC qualifying broadcast will also include live coverage of Saturday’s Ginetta G50, Renault Clio Cup, Ginetta Junior and Porsche Carrera Cup races – meaning each of the support series manufacturers and their competitors will benefit from ITV’s increased commitment to the event as well.

ITV Sport has already confirmed it is upping its live TV coverage of Sunday’s (10 October) action from Brands Hatch on its ITV4 channel by an extra hour to seven and a half hours from 10.30am-6.00pm.

Well, Hopefully I'll be at Brands on Sunday for the finale.. It's been a good season, I've managed to attend Thruxton, Rockingham, Croft, Silverstone and Knockhill this year, had some good times. 👍

Someone needs to invite Johnny Herbert back as well. He provided the entertainment of ten men at Rockingham last year, which is impressive considering the general BTCC standards.

Plato gets his first Pole Position of the year (No, really). The Chevvy looks good here, MacDowell can hopefully show some consistency this round.

Ben Collins struggling a lot with Gearbox issues, which is a shame.

Dominant drive from Plato, not bad performance considering he's got 45Kg of ballast, as he will have for race two.

25 point lead for Plato, two races left. 17 points maximum for a win (15), fastest lap (1) and leading a lap (1).

For either Shedden or Neal to have a chance, Plato has to DNF in one race and fail in the other.

He's been the best this year, thoroughly deserving of it.

He used a manual gearbox as well because they couldn't fix the sequential 'box.

Almost 10th, ended 12th, but he's progressing slowly up the field. Maybe points in the final race?

Just got back from Brands... Great day..

While loitering in the paddock I met Tiff Needell, Ben Collins and unexpectedly, James Thompson :)

Congratulations to the RML Silverline Chevrolet team and Jason Plato 👍

I've heard that Volvo(s60) and Alfa(Giulietta) are coming back in wtcc, is it true?
It would be more interesting if there will be more teams, I'd like to see Renault also :)
