Incidentally, Spong has reported that Moto Guzzi, CCM and Triumph have now been confirmed by Sony. Now for news of Ducati…

If it lives up to moto gp on xbox, I’ll be getting a copy. Any ideas on release dates for the different regions? Did they mention it at the TGS?
Did you pick up MotoGP3 yet ?..

Extreme mode is AWESOME !...

(Though - I have it for PC, but the other 2 has been pretty similar (Except we get more details on the PC :P ))

You would have to expect the Green team to be well represented...being one of the Japanese big four. I’m looking forward to a race prepared ZX-9 ;)

ZX-9s have always been too bulky and heavy ;)

Naaah Mate - A ZXR 91-95 model, stripped, prepped, safety wired w. a ZX14 engine shoehorned in... Now there's a Tool for the Ring ! :-)

You would say that…the crappy old ZXR frame couldn’t handle more ponies ;) hehe
BTW, where’s your well rehearsed anti Ducati rant?

Hehe... The ZXR frame will handle whatever you throw at it.. I'll get you Brians contacts next time he goes to PI - He has a 150Bhp 150Kg '93 that I'm sure you'll find interesting :-)

Can't be arsed to start ranting about Ducatis today.. If all goes well - I have 3 months off from Friday / Monday ;)

Triumph?
They'd better get the sound right - practically the only 3 cylinder bike and it sounds *so* sweet when it's on song. I wonder if it'll have just one or a few (955i, the new 1050-based bikes, old bonneville, etc). Although I'd love to see my '99 955i in there, the newer models have much more power. :)

<mode = excited> Is it nearly out yet? :)

Also, if you think a 9R is a lardy old bus you might want to look for the vid that shows one being ridden around a euro city centre, in rush hour. Sliding up to traffic lights, wheelies, filtering through gaps that look smaller than the bike. Excellent vid. :sly:

Hello christofire, it is pleasing to see triumph in. I’d grab a Japanese copy of the game that is due out in December of this year. If you’re northern hemisphere, you will be able to ride during the bleak months… ;)

Yeh I know the vid its fun to watch. But i think the streets aren't very clean because he is sliding to easy.

BTW, is it just me or did anyone see a bike/rider fallin'? How about crashes? I think a damage model will not exist but, what is with just falling? Wouldn't be nice if they couldn't fall of the bike.

Northern hemisphere - yeah, the wonderful UK winter roads ahead!

There's nothing like a ride out in about 5C on a morning - really wakes you up - but I can see the attraction of being able to go for a blast from the comfort of my bed on those icy/snowy days. :)

As for a damage model, it'd be interesting if you had to pay to repair the damage. A low-speed drop could scuff the paintwork, but do little structural damage - to keep the bike pristine would cost (£1000+ in the UK for a full set of bike plastics), whereas if you're on a tight budget you'd have to choose between a "scrappy" looking racer that goes or a stunning looker with average/low perfomance.

I certainly hope it's nothing like the motogp series on the xbox OR the
PS2. The physics in both of those series are terrible if your a simulation fan.
(Maybe with a proper controller the PS2 series might have felt a bit better to me)

Hello, Samberto and others. Decided I'd come back to this thread to offer more thoughts. But first, let me address a certain comment I saw: (indirect quote) "PD can't fix online play, so they make a bike game." Please, please, m:censored:f:censored:in' get off that subject! Online play isn't going to make the game any better technically, so let's focus on the GAME here.

Call it "GT4 with bikes." What's wrong with a little motorcycle racing game from a successful racing game franchise and transfer it to two wheels? I don't see it as divide and conquer, but more like further putting a game company on the map. How do you think Bungie made their mark with the ever-popular Halo series? Electronic Arts with the NFS series? PD was put on the map WITH AUTHORITY with Gran Turismo. I think PD may have a nice alternative classic on their hands. This new franchise will take some time, but it has a bright future. I try to open myself up to other things, and surely motorcycle racing would be a sweet way to get involved. I'd sure like to see some MotoGP machinery, or those that compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans Moto. I wouldn't go that far yet. I know you want to come out guns blazing with a new potential franchise, but I don't know if having MotoGP bikes will make people want to take notice of this game. I'm not knocking MotoGP, I just don't know what racing bikes would make for some motorcylces people want to race.

To end this post, I think I heard of such a specialized controller that resembles the handle bars of a motorcycle or an ATV. I can't describe it real well, but I think I can remembers some company making a controller in the mold of a motorcycle cockpit. Probably wondering if it can be compatible with Tourist Trophy. If I get more info, I'll come back later and discuss this controller in question.

@ John: yes, I agree with you, we should be happy that PD is making another different racing game next to the GT franchise.

This is the wheel uhh...handle bars!

I saw another one a couple of years ago, I think it was from Thrustmaster too.

Maybe Logitech will jump in too, but I doubt it.

Pah - nuts to buying another one - I'd be tempted to see if there's a way to mount a set of bars to the DFP and tilt it. :)

IMHO - These handlebars just doesn't do it for me. Unless it's one of those big Arcade ones you sit on - and tilt form side to side, I prefer either the DS2 or the Logitech for the PC...

Riding is all about using body balance, and thus tugging at a handle bar controller would not add to the realism in my view. Still, it would make an entertaining sight- maybe after a few drinks I’d get into the swing of things. Tongues in… ;)

I've owned that Thrustmaster controller and it works quite well. Ducati actually made 2 different versions of a bike controller also but not sure if they are still available.
For sure a fake bike that you sit on and lean with handlebar controls as well would be great, but i'm afraid we're going to have to build that ourselves if we want one...at least until bike racing becomes as popular as car racing....some day. :)
Then the sheer demand will create the supply.
i've got too many PC controllers already so until the PS3 and Xbox360 are shown to support more PC devices with their superior resolution, i'll stick with the DS2 and controller S.

YES! That's the controller I was talking about, Zonekill. Thanks a million!

I do agree that a fake bike would be fun, but I think it can still be fun to have just the handle bars. Sometimes, I bend and tilt left and right like I was on a motorcycle. It's okay for me because I sit on my bed and tilt. Hell, I do that in Gran Turismo sometimes! More like, if I want to turn hard into a corner, I'm leaning to one side, trying to get the feel of the car.

As far as the bikes go, I'd sure love to get more information and see more pictures in the coming months. As I say, this is a new franchise. You don't want to go guns blazing until you get some experience. This is why I don't think we'll see stuff like MotoGP bikes, Dakar Bike winners, or that sort of thing. I think PD can put in a few classic motorcycles, just to stir the pot more like the beautiful Sting Ray in GT1.

I would like a nice presence of Honda because when it comes to motorcycles, I think Honda has been quite an accomplished make. Yeah, hate Honda for Civics and Accords, but remember. Honda found success in motorcycles before trying out four wheels. The Japanese contingent is pretty strong. I'd still love to see Ducatis and Aprillias, for the European contingent.

Yeah I’ve got 3. I’m all for more good riding titles. I don’t even mind the Namco Moto GPs. :dopey:

Here are some of Honda's classic winning bikes:

1949 Honda Dream D
1996 Honda RC166

You can hate Honda for their Civics all you want, but outside of four-wheelers, Honda made a name for themselves in motorcycles. If PD wanted to go all-out with Tourist Trophy, to where it is the GT4 of motorcycles, then this would be certainly interesting. To me, I am very fond of Honda. Maybe not a "fanboy" of the Tochigi, Japan outfit, but I admire Honda. They made everything a lot of stuff- cars, trucks, vans, lawn mowers, motorcycles, ATVs, generators, scooters, personal watercraft, even their cute robot ASIMO. Honda still remains a power in motorcycle racing and motorcycle history. To me, if Honda gets a lot of entries, it may turn out that Honda may end up the Nissan of motorcycles. Nissan in the sense of a whole bunch of motorcycles in the game.

If you ask me, though, I don't know too much about Ducati and Aprillia. They make for great motorcycles. I still see great potential for this game and this new franchise deal. I am so digging Tourist Trophy.

I've watched the trailer once more and i've noticed that you can only see two bikes at the same time. I think if they let the Ring in it, like in GT4, it would be very boring to just have five oponents. I hope that they can include the new feature, obviously to be included in GT5, that there'll be more riders. On a track like Isle of Man, well this would be more boring but in reallife you drive almost on you own so it would be almost real.

October 3, 2005 - Sony Computer Entertainment has opened an official Japanese website for Tourist Trophy, the new motorcycle game from Polyphony Digital, the maker of Gran Turismo. The site is available only in Japanese, but those brave enough to swim the kanji-infested waters can take a look here.

We'd suggest clicking on the "Introduction" link then flipping down to page "P" on the flash mini site. This will take you to a large collection of high res pics of the game as well as a direct feed, high-res version of the Tokyo Game Show trailer.
Tourist Trophy seems to be speeding along through development. The game is so far along, in fact, that SCE plans on showcasing a playable version at the Tokyo Motor Show, which opens its doors on October 22. If you're in Tokyo at the time, be sure and catch this opportunity to try Polyphony's latest.

It seems fresh news.

Edit:  WOW, that´s a lot of awesome pics!

have you seen the top right corner of the article? it looks like you can customise your rider with different helmets and overalls! wicked!

look on the tt website and go to the end bit which is the gallery. you get a better look at the riding equipment selection. it's at the bottom

nitro_2005
i think they will implement the same things they did for the vision gt video. i think we will be able have more than 6 bikes on track.

I think with the detail in the bikes we get only 2 maybe 3 bikes in a race. Not even speaking of more than 6!!!

And Uhhhhh use the edit function. :sly:

Is this a Japan only or something.

As far as I know Sony/PD hasnt confirmed an EU US release yet!?
