Toyota FT-1 Super Lap

Couldn't agree more, I've been running this one without any aids using cockpit cam, its very rewarding when you get it around in one piece! Some so called 'hardcore' drivers have given up on this one reverting back to 'assisted drivers'... tut, tut tut

I started out with no aids, as I do with most cars just to try and get the "realistic" feel for each car, but then I switched to being one of those 'assisted drivers', as you say , so that I could be competitive with the rest of my friends and the leaderboard. So yes, before anyone says anything, I have driving the car both ways, with and without aids, and I still say it handles fine for what it is. I have no reason to "bash 'n trash" this car.

Just improved to a 1'28.569 after a 30 min. session. Leaving a lot of time out there, just need to bring it all home.

It's not that a car needs to be perfect. And perfect is purely down to each individual's personal taste.

The real test of a car personally on this track is how well it handles the left-hander after the corkscrew. How quickly it settles so you can take it nice and wide and nail it through the apex without it wobbling off into the opposite sand-trap.

But for me, the car has no grace or finesse. Bite-your-face-off brakes? Check. Huge wheelspin out of corners if the front wheels are pointed in any direction but dead ahead? Check. Paradoxically MONUMENTAL understeer for an FR car? Check. What the hell?...

Of course, I'm just jealous of people who got a gold after two laps... :D

For me, the car goes through that corner in a beautifully balanced manner. I find that I can nail that corner more often than a lot of other corners on the track.

I know you ain't talking about me....as it took me 3 laps for Gold. So, if you are going to take a dig at someone, get facts straight first. ;) (Post is meant in a sarcastic, light-hearted way. :))

It took me 3 hours to get a 1:29:035...damn .
Well, I am improving, so thats the main point.

At how many revs do you shift up? I think the car is faster when upshifting @ 7000. I still manage to be only 0.8 sec behind the top guys before the corkscrew, then it all gets SO MUCH WORSE!👎

Oh, I'm sorry, only 3 laps, wow... ;)

I have to say it took me 2h at least to get it gold...
first clean run was something like 1:47...
If they took the "train mode" off it might give people a bit more challenge.

If its too easy take the helps off...

Or i am just darn bad driver...
Nah, this is just one of the tracks like Cape Ring that I can practically drive with my eyes closed I've raced them so much... possibly if it were one of the newer tracks though???

Fair enough. I must be attacking too much. I have to admit, by the time I reach that corner, I am screaming silently at the screen  You must be a much more patient man than I.

Anyway, there's the old saying of not looking a gift horse in the mouth. I'm honestly really grateful to PD for stepping up and giving us more content, especially if it's free. This is my favourite Gran Turismo since 4, so I'm chuffed to bits really.

I'm shifting right at redline at the moment. I haven't tested any other shift points yet, which I'll probably do in my next session. I must say though, the more I drive this car, the more I like it. In all fairness, I think the other people who say its junk should really give it a fair try. Once you get used to its handling characteristics, its really a fun car to drive. I do realize though that it just may not be for everyone, but at least give it more than just a few laps before you bash 'n trash it. 👍

Once I got used to the car, I actually found it quite enjoyable. The power on oversteer was annoying when it caught me out, but if I was careful enough with the throttle it felt quite good.

Just out of interest are you using a controller or a wheel?

I see someones knocked me down to 17th place, i know thiers more in it for my by at least 4 tenths but lastnight i was to tired to put it together :D! Love the combo never really been a fan of laguna seca but for some reason liking the track now

I managed to Gold this TT on my 2nd lap.

Always the 1st lap helps in understanding the car & how good the car is in braking. Once we get the feedback from the car, we can start pushing the car to its limits.

The main thing to remember for this car or TT is to brake right. Heading to the Corkscrew is the biggest challenge in terms of braking.

Got silver on my first lap, I just need to understand the downforce in that big wing before I can really set a good time. The car is dang fast and a pleasure to drive! Much better than that stupid M4...
*inb4 BMW fans find and/or hang me.

Just did my 1st lap and golded with 1:34.3. Really my second lap as I went off the road at the corkscrew on the 1st one.
Hopefully there's some more time to pick up there. And unfortunately I've been busy the last couple of days so am starting at the lowest level of payments.

3rd lap..1:31.8............1:30.9........

i deeply read what cargo and other said about not giving a fast judgement on the car.
you're in a way right, the car is a prototype and PD is guessing how it should behave on handling corners and such.
i applyed to the TT yesterday evening...ahahah guess...
...red lapped every single lap!
stuck at 1.33.866 while my top of the friend list is at 1.31.7XX
the frustration to me comes from not getting any better...
but probably i found out why:
1. i am failing in getting a right reference on the track where to start to brake.
2. i am dealing too fast in getting the throttle up...should be more gentle on the pedal.
3. seems that the car gives his best with a rougher style of driving instead a full clean one (oversteer ftw).
any hints?
settings:
using DFGT
TC 1
no SRF
ABS 1
Controller Sensitivity 6.

For the benefit of everyone who is not moving ahead in regular increments on this one, if you are not using SRF you will likely remain well behind the pack.

All the top drivers here use it for their best times. The ongoing GT5 arguments about SRF are now null and void as it is now mainstream.

My main problem is still the corkscrew. If im aggressive there (which I think you need to be) the car goes into massive oversteer. Some players drive quite aggressively over the curbs @ corkscrew exit. How can they do this? Any advice?

It's either confidence through practice or courage to accept failure (red lap)!

Wow....so uhhh I had no idea SRF made such a big difference!!!

Pre SRF i was sittin on 1:31s and feeling like it'd be impossible to improve.

Now that I finally put it on for the first time I've hit some dirty 29's! Pretty confident that I could drop down to 28s!!!

I knew there was SOMETHING i had to be missing! It makes braking into corners impossibly easier/more stable
