Toyota FT-1 Super Lap

i deeply read what cargo and other said about not giving a fast judgement on the car.
you're in a way right, the car is a prototype and PD is guessing how it should behave on handling corners and such.
i applyed to the TT yesterday evening...ahahah guess...
...red lapped every single lap!
stuck at 1.33.866 while my top of the friend list is at 1.31.7XX
the frustration to me comes from not getting any better...
but probably i found out why:
1. i am failing in getting a right reference on the track where to start to brake.
2. i am dealing too fast in getting the throttle up...should be more gentle on the pedal.
3. seems that the car gives his best with a rougher style of driving instead a full clean one (oversteer ftw).
any hints?
settings:
using DFGT
TC 1
no SRF
ABS 1
Controller Sensitivity 6.

As much as it pains me to give this type of advice, you are going to have to turn SRF ON. Also, turn off the TC and get used to good throttle control. Start off slow, really concentrating on getting the feel for the car. Don't try to set the world on fire with your first lap, you're only hindering your progress when you do that. Gradually work your speed up the more you get used to the car. The important thing is concentrating on getting clean laps first, you're speed will come after that. You need to develop good driving habits first before worrying about your speed. Establish your braking points once you get up to speed....watch the top replays to help determine good braking points. Most important thing is though, you gotta start out slow and get the feel for the car, don't over drive it. Hope this helps you out, good luck with your progress. You can do it my friend, I know you can. 👍

To be honest tapping the handbrake helps alot just to get inital turn in and power out early. not handbrake slide but controlled. i can easily get into the 26s but just cant seem do lap always something, or a distraction going on at home. im at 27.1 last i looked ranked 19th,

it will take you abit to adjust to tapping e brake but worth it, hope it helps

laguna_seca_layout-1.png

here are some braking reference points i analysed from top players replay.

corner 2: you see a ripple strip on right hand side and when you are about end edge of it, or there is a sign says 4 on it, thats when you brake. if you look at signs as your reference point, knock down the first one that says 5 so next lap its less confusing for you.:)

corner 3: ripple strip begins on your left, brake on beginning edge of it.

corner 4: stay as wide as possible, literally knock down first 2 signs on your left, as soon as you knocked down 2nd sign you dab a brake and turn towards right. if you knocked down those 2 signs then next lap youre on your own for this one.:D

corner 5: a shadow of the bridge on the track - brake on the end edge of it, or just before the sign 3.

corner 6: to me this is the most difficult and its a category A, high speed corner that leads to uphill Rahal straight so its very important you get this right. another shadow of a bridge here, you brake right on it or slightly before?

the corkscrew: youll see a darker patch due to a lot of rubber on this corner, there is this pattern that dark patch becomes more darker - you sort of brake in between those area. ask experts how to handle this chicane, not me.

stay as close to inside as you can on corner 9.

corner 10: dab a brake when you enter ripple strip on your left, change down 1 gear just to turn the car then quickly change back up a gear.

corner 11: brake at early part of ripple strip on your right, or just before the sign 3. again, i usually knock down the first unwanted sign - last thing i need after i managed a perfect lap till this point is to get confused, "crap! which sign was it?!"

hopefully this will help. please could someone who is top 100 improve this further? this is best i can do.

Thank you Cargo for the support. I will take a deeper approach on the abovementioned TT, this week end. ;) and thank
Jujiro for the guide! :D

1.32.x is my fastest with SRF on and 1.44.6 with SRF off.

A tricky car to drive as it is very tail happy. It looks sexy though, so i'm deffo going to keep it and just add some SS tyres to it.

Hey all, Just thought I would add to the forum. I thought that perhaps PD had re-set the settings for this TT after I had golded it, as so many people were having a problem with either the TT itself or the car.I first did the TT as soon as it was released. I grabbed the FT-1 and went back into the career races and found a set that was for tuned cars, pp650, Ft-1 550 odd pp. I thought I could tune the FT-1 for the race, but found that apart from brakes and tyres, there are no tuning options. Anyway, raced Apricot Hill and Daytona Road with it, and blew the doors off the other cars, too easy. Got 280 k's on the home straight at Daytona, so plenty quick. Yes some understeer, not too bad though, but the car handled like a dream, and fast. Then went back to TT and with everything off except abs1, did a 1:32xx first lap. Obviously not competitive in the over all scheme of the TT, but plenty quick enough for the gold. The car is awesome to drive, just need to allow for braking distance and slight understeer. I really wish we could tune it, as some diff and suspension tweeks would work wonders. I truly don't see what all the negativity about the car is over. Doesn't drive like a GT-R R35 TC, but then again its not meant too. Anyway, stay fast, cheers

You're welcome. You just gotta believe. If you believe in yourself and go in with a positive and never say die attitude, you'd be surprised at what you can accomplish. Three years ago I was told that I might not walk again, (auto accident) now look at me. :) Not only walking again, albeit with a cane, but getting better and better at a game they said I would never have the reflexes to play. You gotta believe. :) Keep at it my friend.

EDIT: Just improved to 1'28.217. You gotta believe!!!

Thank you cargo, just went from 1:33:8xx to an appalling 1:31:120 back on top of my friend list... :)

Great combination this :)
Currently on 1.27.9. I'm finding turn 9 quite difficult. I'm taking it quite cautiously when I'm on a good lap which is costing me at least 2 or 3 tenths or I'm binning it all together. More work required, I see a 27.5 or maybe better if I can "perfect" the lap.

Good job!!! See, I told you that you could do it. :) And I'm sure you can improve even more. 👍 Just remember though, Rome wasn't built in a day so don't try becoming an "alien" overnight. You'll get there soon enough. It took me 3 years to get to where I'm at, albeit through much adversity. The main thing is though, I never gave up and never stopped believing in myself. Good luck to you in your future improvements.

Had a good 2 hours at this today, and down to a 1:26.850! I can see where rank 1 loses time (Entire 1st sector) also the first left in sector 2, and a little at the chicane. I would definitely say a 1:25 is possible! I personally enjoyed this combination! Gave a unique driving feel even with SRF on, which is quite nice! Still wish that was off though!

I've uploaded my lap, may help a few out or you might just want to watch it for enjoyment :)! I may revisit this as I can definitely see with a little time me getting a much better time!

Good video Tidgney...and seen that you have improved your time ...I seem incredible times of the top 10 guys ...That car is very difficult to control ...But really beautiful ..How many hp can have this Toyota? ....

I'd say 25 is possible..but hard to combine...

Absolutely, although I think the hard part comes just after the sector 2 time, when you have the high speed left & the remaining part of the track after that!
Just did a 1'26.204 just now and i'd say besides first sector..n a little hesitation on the throttle at the final corner...pretty much already my limit...

Nice video Tidge, thanks for posting. I think I could hear you on that 4th curve (according to the map above) going into that short straight saying, " Whoa, whoa"!!! So close to going off the track there, good use of the rumbles. 👍

its a great replay with different views and angles!

I golded this yesterday night, my time was 1.29 flat. What annoyed me was the brakes, other than that the car performed OK. I mean it wasn't like "Woah baby!" if you know what I mean. It's not a car I'll be driving for fun now that I completed this seasonal. I'm not going to try and get a better time, although I think I can manage a better time, the car makes me pass.

Now I just want some more credit awarding seasonals. Like the one with Mario Andretti's Hudson. Seems pretty hard to get some real scarole.

Excellent work Seiza, I was 2 tenths up on Rank 1 when I was having a go at this on Sunday going into the last stretch and he loses some on the chicane. I think as your down to it, it would be like GT Academy at that point, just little bits here and there!

Haha, that corner was driving me mad, and once again was trying to stay on for dear life :D! Luckily managed it, although this combo has some weird disqualifications to, like I've been 3 wheels on track at that point before and been disqualified to. Very very strange!

Yea, I've noticed that too. Its that way on some other tracks also.

Thanks mate!
It's a nightmare for me to try n break it...i had a few runs just now..and after passing the 2nd sector 2tenths quicker than my record..then couldn't keep up afterwards :-(

It's why I stopped with this challenge, got frustrated with parts and still plenty of fun to be had elsewhere :)! Good luck with it though Seize :)!

Seize_HKS incredible time! I saw all the guys in the top 10 not use active steering .. How can it be for you to be more fast without it? (I really biene better to use the active direction). For me, it's better because I can accelerate earlier ...

uhhh...actually i dunno how it feels with or without active steering...
I have all driving aids off since day one...

That FT-1 rocks. Haven't used SRF, but then I don't care about the LB. it's so much fun poking the car with a stick. Sucks you into the corners with under steer if you're a bit hot into the turn and once you floor it, it spits you out with a wiggling tail.

Can't get much better than this IMO. I feel that's what turbocharging should be about.

i'm a low end to average driver (played gt4, 5 n 6) that doesnt put my time into the game cos i play other games 1st :) but i don't understand why people hate this car think its brill and maybe PD will put update out so it can be upgraded. was struggling to gold this tt think i was 2 secs over, i use drive line just as a bit of aid for braking abs 1 sensitivity 0 - 2 on DS3 traction 5, i don't grind for hours (only downside to game i dont wanna spend hours with same car n track trying to get a bit faster lol) my fault as mentioned, watched tidgneys vid then went on this morning did 20 laps ish got gold think its 1,33.xxx so shaved a load of time off my previous only did about 5 clean laps, for this tt i put traction down to 3 and srf on.

also off topic i used car on ascari 10 lap challenge in super licence passed 1st time in 24 mins? using settings above against huaraya, aventador etc amazing car
