a good positive attitude is a great start. just do your best and know you left it all out there on the track, very best of luck!
Thanks, Mtla. I'd take a top 25 and I'll be satisfied. Cannot see how I'll find a second but I guess that's what why we have DPE helping us IF we need it.

Day 2 Recap: F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!! We picked up 5 tenths while the leaders lost 1.3secs bringing us to where we wanted to be. The first race was a relatively normal race without much shuffling in the race order. Race 2 came around and I hit all the right straps. Started 25th and worked my way up to 16th (beating the International in my class) and I stuck it to the National champion for a majority of the race. They spend $20,000+ in ONE race meeting while we spend $1,000 at the best of times but no more than that. The final wasn't too great. Got caught up in too much carnage and was blatantly taken out on the last lap to finish a lowly 25th. All in all we are treating the 2nd race like the final so we know where we are ranked amongst the elite class.

Drivers Briefing - Round 6

Circuit: Circuito De Madrid (Forward Direction)
Laps: 3x 9 Laps
Circuit Time: N/A
Weather: N/A

Circuito_de_Madrid.png

After another great round with 6 drivers (equal to the HSR 500 attendance) we move on to what may be considered the Clipsal 500 of the season at the Madrid Circuit. Hopefully this week we can up that number to 9 with everything going to plan. Hopefully @nosoks doesnt have any power issues, @ADDZ_074 can make it home in time and @NW48 is able to join us between flights around the country, racing his Kart!

Track Limits

Being a street circuit, there are no track limits as such. However it is possible to cut the corner at Turn 6 as it is described on the circuit map. This will be over looked as I will define the track limits as being the fence.

Barrier Collisions

As this is a street circuit the track is obviously lined with barriers. Everyone needs to be cautious that when following a car closely that mistakes can be made and that a car that hits the wall may be faced with a sudden stop as result, which may cause you to become involved in the incident yourself. So take care and be alert.

Timetable

For this week and in future rounds I will be posting the time table for the round. Please note that we are now in daylight savings in South Australia, so for those who are not in daylight savings time please be aware that your start time will now be an hour earlier.

7:30pm ACDT: Room Opens
7:50pm: All cars to Pit Lane for Spec Checking
8:00pm: Qualifying begins (10 minutes)
8:10pm: Race 1 Begins
Race 2 and 3 to begin a short time after the conclusion of Races 1 and 2

As always, I hope to see everyone on Thursday Night! :)

I'll be there Itz, I don't have any Away racing commitments this weekend just the final round of the championship at home so I should be good. Next week, probably not. I'll be in Emerald for the Double Direct.

NW48's Race of Stars Recap
A great experience for me as a driver and something I'll never forget. Whether it was meeting David Reynolds, Alex Premat, Chaz Mostert, Paul Morris, Michael Caruso, James Courtney (again), Fabian Coulthard and Lee Holdsworth or giving it to the Australian Champion who's budget is $49,000 more than mine or beating the International driver in my class, I'll NEVER forget this weekend. The lowest low's of Friday Practice were erased after Saturday's Qualyfying, which saw me jump from 31st (out of 34) during practice to 25th after Qualy and then arguably my best race in Race 2 of 3 where I gave it to the National champion, who had to cut the track illegally just to get away from me and two others, and beat the international from New Zealand. Race 3 wasn't a great way to end the weekend as from the second corner I was on a fight back after being involved in a 2nd corner crash which slightly bent my steering then after chasing down the kart ahead of me on the last lap, I was turned around by an 🤬 who bent my steering further and cost me a good finishing position.

Where there any Supercars there?
Yes, there was a high end Ferrari (I think it was a 599 or something, didn't see it too well) which was probably a rental as the guy driving it didn't know how to open the boot and it didn't turn up on the second day even though the guy was there.

Well, I'm back at home and enjoying time with the relatives that came to look after my siblings as both my parents were there at the race. Now, I just gotta get through my Birthday tomorrow with them!

Well your weekend was a slight improvement on mine. Came from 8th to finish 3rd in heat 1. Heat 2 I needed a push start because the car wasn't starting on its own and I thought I told dad that the battery was dying and we needed a push start. Started pole for heat 2 and took the win, pretty sure i had a decent gap in the gwc finish too. that put me in 4th position for the feature. Jumped in the car for the feature, tried to fire it up and there was nothing. Thought we had no time to change it (no one on the team wanted to do any work) so we Got it push started with the quad bike in the pits and while it was warming up i could hear it pop and cracking as a result of a dead battery. Got out onto the track and the misfire was awful and I was just going to get run over at the start of the race so I decided to pull infield. Was really disappointed as I felt we had the fastest car there and I knew I would've made easy work of the 3 cars in front of me.

I guess we both copped the hard luck of motorsport! The best we can do is just keep on moving forward. I've got a championship to win (even though I'ved missed two more rounds than the other two guy's in contention), so I'm going to win it by all costs, whether I do what my hero Ayrton Senna did at Suzuka to Alain Prost to win his World Driver's Championship or by manipulating the other 3 or 4 racers to get the result I want, I'm gonna win it at all costs, it the one thing I haven't done at the Mount Isa Go-Kart Club is win the Junior National Light Championship. Most of the time I can't win it as I'm away to often but this year I'm in with a chance. But the thing is, my dad won't be running me as he'll be in Brisbane for the SKC and may become the new VP for Karting QLD, my brother will. However, the upside is that I'll have free reign to do what I want on the track. Should be an interesting night for any spectators that show up to watch.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NW MATE, hope you have a really great day (i hope its as sunny for you as it is here in melbs today)! congrats on the great work driving!, sounds like you really made a good fist of it and have come away satisfied! very well done!

sounds like you also had an interesting one Itz! that would simply be the worst, mechanical/electrical issues at the start line, i would prob cry as i would just wanna race sooooo bad, i might even get out and just run the race on foot if i had too.... lol...

Yeah it's sunny up here, it's always sunny. Always around 40 degrees celsius and couple that with a low water supply and you've got quite a situation.

am sick as a dog but after a day and a half without doing any laps i think im deep in withdrawal... will be online in an hour or so (5.30/6) doing some Madrid prac if anyone is keen for it!

jeez nw! we get cold at times that could freeze your eyes (artic air and all that that actually makes you go to bed as you cant keep warm) and our hottest gets to 45 or so (was a record when i was younger but with global warming comes the temps!, we had 5 days over 45 in a row last year, omg.... i have NEVER, EVER experienced anything like it!) but yeah, 40 and sunny on the reg would absolutely kill me.. i bet soks can attest to the cold... actually having moved away from it! lol, maybe one day i will also!

also, on a 40 degree day in melb it can still rain. lol.

I may get on for a few laps soon.
As for cold..... in Canada in about 2 months it will likely be -40C... at that temp when you spit, its frozen when it hits the ground.

I would love to join everyone, but Dave is having a practice session for the Nurburgring races so I'm going to make sure I'm present for that as you need a few mates to make driving the nurburgring a bit more interesting :)

You entering the Nurburgring 6hrs? I'm probably going to do the Nurburgring 6hrs with the GTOR guy's if I'm at home that weekend. I think I may be in Gladstone that weekend though so I'd have to check again.

Yeah I'm going to be in the Green Hell Heathen's team. Basically I think we are using the 6 hour as a tune up for the 24 hour next february :)

Ok, If I'm racing the Nurb 6hr I'll see you on the track. Time to go have some Fish and Chips before some cake!

Soks mate sorry i left the lobby, was having connection issues beyond the norm (why does my laptop work??). will let you know if i get the ps3 happening again this eve!

looks like im going to have to call my service provider again, i got a new modem that is supposed to be super speed duel band so my bro and misses can do their things while im racing, apparently better means not working at all so YAY!, i get to spend an hour on the phone tomorrow to TPG getting my stuff reset. boo.

on another note my misses is driving a formula ford at Broadford race way ina few days, a present she got me but im just faaaaaar too sick to be able to do it, am sooooo upset, but she bought herself a drive in one also so we have just switched dates!.. she is doing laps now at Tsukuba in the little yellow thing i cant remember the name of! (am thinking lightcar company) sheesh she is good!, no line, traction or abs, cockpit view and still putting in 57's! i did a few laps to show her whats what and after 5 had a 52, so woah to her! (there is a little tune i did in 5 min but still!)

anyone up for some laps today? net is working fine! i will be online at about 6pm aest :)

on another note i am about to sign up to a motorsport mechanic course.. i have a degree in fine arts which seems to only mean my brain works laterally now... ha ha ha, there are no jobs for an artist unless you sell your own work (which i have done but omg its the biggest stress out ever and i dont actually want to live so anxiously) or sell others (of which i made about 2 friends at uni as 99.9% where REALLY self assured self congratulatory peanuts, not wanting to surround myself with them forever.., this course has graduates in every v8 supercar team, nascar and even one over at mclaren f1... am not 100% sure yet as it means a move to the country with the misses.. anyways, thought i'd keep you all posted.. lol!

how did the Nurburg prac go Itz? i will watch the 6 hour online and support the track stars driver! ha ha ha!

I'll try and make the practice but like always, no guarantee. Go and do that course, you won't regret it. Even if you don't 'get the job' at least you've had the experience.

yeah its a 2 year course so full commitment! the uni has a racetrack also. there is another uni that does the same course in the city but i cant be bothered messing around with cbd campuses).. my last uni was dead in the middle of it and the pace seemed to mimic work life.. this stuff takes good time to render and harmonize so i think the country will be much more my style.. they also recently bought an old gen v8 super car and have formula fords and such.. could be rather interesting! i think i would use it to go down the engineering route and design some bits and bobs!

Yeah, I'm not travelling this weekend, just got a race at home for the championship. The only thing I haven't done is win the Junior National Light Championship at my local club. Now I'm not ruling out doing what my hero, Ayrton Senna, did to Prost at the Suzuka GP, but it's definitely on my mind. ;) Next week however, I think I'll be travelling for the 5th weekend in a row next week but I'm unsure if I'll miss the race as a result of it.

ahhhh i see! well def try not to senna that prost!, might hurt yourself! lol, very best of luck at the junior titles Ndub.

I've been too lucky to have never hurt myself in karting so to me, it's not a problem.

hahaha! just when you let your guard down is when the probs happen, no one expects to get hurt.. its the random nature of the universe! be safe and good luck mate

That's good news mate! Make sure you keep us updated on how you are going!

To be honest going to the motorsport course was discussed when I was 15-16, (I'm 21 now) and the only thing that really stopped me was packing up and moving away from the family, all on my own. I would love to know what its like, as it may be something ill consider in 2-3 years time when I finish my apprenticeship. I'm doing the apprenticeship with my parents business and to be honest I think going and doing something else for a while may be a positive thing. So I'm open to anything, especially if it involves motorsport! Haha

100% Itz, im 30 now, had a tough life till i was about 23 when i decided to talk my way into uni and have a go at doing something positive (fine art at the VCA Melbourne) (never finished or did yr 11 let alone 12, was too busy being a mental case westy ha ha ha!). taking that time off from school and all was the BEST thing for me.. it REALLY let me come to terms with who i was and what i wanted to be/do. its a VERY special thing to find your calling or passion early on in life, i thought i had like 20 times, and REALLY pursued those avenues only to find out it was a bit of an obsession but not a deep enough one to commit everything i had to. Over time my love for motorsport has grown, seemingly without me noticing it, one day i woke up and was like, i think i have oil for blood... that was a few years back now but only in the last few months have i even thought about trying to make it my life... i was like, 'why the hell not??'. i believe im as intelligent and capable as anyone, able to read and take in the pertinent info with quite good economy and have good muscle memory so don't naturally forget the tasks i am taught.. anyways, the point is, doing an apprenticeship with your folks is a great thing!, it will teach you perspective and that simple things have a classic approach. if you can work out how and why your dads business works, you can draw those parallels to any other avenue your pursue and have a greater effect noticing how it all flows. A little perspective and time before you jump into the motorsport world an amazingly powerful tool.

Will def keep you all posted!

edit* if i make it to a V8 team i will get us all to the mountain for a Bathurst... in a few years ;) lol!
