Race 3

Indianapolis Road Course_15.jpg

With the cars lined up on the grid for the 3rd and final race there was no need for explanation on the grid order for this race!

Indianapolis Road Course_16.jpg

Another good start saw ItzRacing lead into turn 1 with bencrow_ again trying to gain track position at turn 1 with an agressive move on MTLA1984 and nosoks, but was unlucky to come out of the opening turns in 4th place.

nosoks got out of shape exiting turn 7 and dropped behind bencrow_ into 4th place. However the BMW driver was quickly on the tail of the Alfa Romeo of bencrow_ looking to reclaim 3rd position.

It was then bencrow_'s turn to get out of shape this time, getting sideways entering turn 5 and allowing nosoks to swoop past into 3rd place.

At the front of the field a couple of small mistakes by ItzRacing was keeping MTLA1984 in close range to the Opel driver, but MTLA1984 was still unable to get a cruicial draft, to drag himself in to contention.

ItzRacing then managed to clean up his act and put in a solid time on lap 5 to completely break the tow MTLA1984 was trying to gain.

Now on the final lap, ItzRacing had built up a 2 second lead and was looking strong to claim his first grand slam of the season and gain an extra point on MTLA1984 in the title race.

And in a completely dominating performance for the Opel driver. ItzRacing crosses the line to take win in race 3 and complete the grand slam of taking pole position, winnning every race of the round, leading the most laps and setting the fastest lap of the race in the process of claiming the round win. MTLA1984 was 2nd again and took 2nd for the round. nosoks finished in 3rd place to take the round podium and bencrow_ was 4th in the Alfa Romeo.

In the championship standings the gap between MTLA1984 in 1st place and ItzRacing in 2nd closed up to 46 points with nosoks a further 91 points behind in 3rd place.

mercedes-benz-bmw-logo-635x360.jpg

Reports are merging that NW48 has left the team he was instrumental in the creation of, BMW Motorsports, to pursue a Wild Card enrty with an upcoming team, Mercedes-Benz Motorsports. It is expected that NW48 signs on the dotted line in the coming hours. However, it is unclear if NW48 will debut his Merc at the Nurburgring or in two weeks time at Circuito de Madrid. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge...

UPDATE- NW48 has confirmed that he has left BMW Motorsports for Mercedes-Benz Motorsport and will race the rest of the season as a Wild Card. We understand that NW48 will race for Mercedes-Benz Motorsport tonight at the Nurburgring.

Addendum to Drivers Briefing

To further explain the situation regarding the running of tonight even I am releasing the following:

The earliest time for the beginning of a Round will be at 7:50pm ACST

Due to me being expected to slightly late, the latest possible starting time for tonight's racing will be at 9:00pm ACST, however I still ask that all drivers be ready by 7:50pm ACST in the event that I do arrive as normal, and use whatever time in between 7:50pm ACST and the time of the room opening as a good opportunity to have a practice session prior to racing.

get your night time prac on peeps!, races will start at three dif times (morning/day/night), see OP for info. looking forward to our first night race! will be online within half an hour if anyone wants to do some laps or tuning before Itz opens the official room.

Itz has entrusted me with the responsibility to run the race tonight if he is unable to make it by 9pm. So if he hasn't returned by then, 9:04pm AEST (or 9:34pm as he hadn't stated which timezone :dunce:) will be the exact start time for Qualyfying. No if's, no but's.

I'm taking an indefinite hiatus from this series until I can sort out my controller issues as these cars are undrivable in the current state of my DS3. Hopefully everything can be sorted out before Madrid but I highly doubt so.

Thanks @NW48 for being on standby to host tonights round. Although I didnt require you to host in the end it is much appreciated.

Shame to hear about your issues with the ds3. Sounds like your controller is having the same glitchy problems that mine have been having. The simplest fix will be to go out and buy a new ds3 last time i bought one for about $60-70, they could be cheaper now the ps4 is out though. You were doing a great job until you started having issues. Keep sticking to it (maybe with a new controller though) and some decent results will come your way soon.

Now on to the racing!

All i can say is.... WOW! That was some of the best racing I have ever experienced in my life. Had an good battle with nosoks until we collided, it looked like i was going to loop the car but somehow kept it going, possibly due to MTLA1984 correcting me!

Race 2 I'll just say the sun got in my eyes and i think it got in MTLA1984's eyes a lap later. He had a dive at me into the final chicane and just came in too hot unfortunately and allowed me to cruise to the win.

and Finally, Race 3 was insane! I have never swapped positions and ran side by side with someone like that for so many laps in the 13 years i've been racing, either online or in the real world! @Mtla1984 you should be very proud of your efforts, you did an amazing job tonight and certainly made the night very enjoyable. I had the biggest grin on my face as we raced side by side for 3 corners on the final lap, you would have thought I had gotten lucky a few moments ago ;)

Anyway I'll get official results done, points updated and maybe even race reports in the next few days between the bathurst telecast and also hopefully watching a replay of an Indianapolis Colts victory! Enjoy guys

WOW! what a night of racing! honestly have never had an experience like that before! A HUGE thanks to Itz!. On t.v. and the net i watch a HELL of a lot of racing, its in my veins,.. every time i see an Alonso and Webber (or alike) style battle of perfectly respectful lengthy side by side battling, where any sudden move can render both racers pointless or worse, i think to myself, that's what i want. I love hearing martin brundle speak of racers that can trust each other enough to pass on the outside up Au Rouge risking it all, so close to the edge, still knowing the situation is perfectly in control. i feel for the first time tonight, digital or not, i somewhat experienced that racing Itz. It was just incredible rubbing bumpers corner after corner, slip streaming to dive up the inside with every thousandth counting, for the whole race!... god i want a race car. hahahaha!
all in all a THOROUGHLY satisfying feeling!.. felt like a real race.
my heart was in my throat for a good chunk of this round, i almost took that win twice, just too late on the breaks and ended up the fool! (in the same spot!) but a very happy one!

While myself and Itz where fighting Soks was really making some headway on us, if it where a few more laps and the tyre life became a larger facet to deal with i think he just may have had the pace!

Well done to gas, scares me to think what he would be capable of with even half an hour more track time!

NW and myself had a pretty feisty battle in race 2 i think it was, after i went off track, really hard tough driving, he wasnt giving up that spot for free thats for sure!, def get a new controller if you can, the merc suits your style much better!.

The night race was brilliant!, such a great addition the series! was thinking about the possibility of maybe combining all three races from one of the rounds and make it a mini enduro, 25 laps or so starting at dawn going through the night back to morning.... would be fun! having said that with connection issues we all seem to face, breaking the rounds up into three sprints allows anyone dropped to rejoin.... just a thought!

Well done to Itz!, 6 race wins in a row..... come on boys!, lets not have a Vettel situation happen! hahaha!

BRING ON BATHURST!.... and sochi f1.... wish they were not going there.

I'm looking into a new DS3 or buying a PS4 controller. I do have a spare DS3 but one of the analpg stick pads are loose so it just spins around unless I take the pad off but then I lose the 'comfort' of the pad. ;) I'm unsure how my AfterShock controller will do as it has the fudged up setup of an Xbox controller but I'll have to give it a shot! The Merc was alot better. Didn't have to 'rough' with it by throwing it into the corners like the BMW as it just seemed to flow. Definitely sticking with the Merc.

The only thing I can discredit it on is the brakes. Sometimes they'll work well but sometimes they seem to just be non-exsistent.

some epic racing. Races 2 and 3 I lost it in turn 12(once on the outside, once on the inside) taking me out of contention. I think I was on pace, with a fast lap for the evening of 1:59.0xx. On the bright side my spins got me into some great side by side with fullgas and NW on my back bumper for a while. Good times thanks fellas and well done in the front Itz and MT

yeah i also spun a few times (which i was managing not to do in prac!) when the heat of the race was on i dipped a tyre into the dirt on more than one occasion!, handed the win back to Itz at least once because of it! what a great round!

Yeah its funny how we can all drive prefect laps in practice but once in the pressure cooker of the racing environment, thats when the mistakes start happening! I'm definitely guilty of being caught in that situation a number of times over the years. But i've also now learnt how to position my car to let someone know where I am and keep the pressure on them and force mistakes.

Last Saturday night in one of my heat races the guy in front of me was running the high line and although i was quicker i couldnt pass him on the inside, so i just kept showing the nose of the car to him on the inside. Eventually I put the thought into his head that he needed to go low to cover me so I moved up high and when he washed up slipped back underneath him and took the spot!

the fact you position your car early like should be done instead of just changing line under breaking like some noodles do online was what helped make it such a realistic experience!.. i was also poking my nose around to let you know i was there trying to lay some pressure, you just held your nerve far too well! what a round!

Sochi F1 qual about to start! cant wait!

Yeah, ive always been of the opinion that you change your line once into a corner and if the other driver is good enough to move alongside of you before the apex then good on them, and i will let them through and try and find a way back past them.

I'm the same in the real world as well, if i see someones front wheels, then i believe its just as much my duty to avoid having a crash as it is theirs and so i give them the room to race fairly. Some people I race against dont do that when I'm the one overtaking, and unfortunately for them i'll just hang them out to dry as a result :) haha

yeah fair is fair, if you win the corner its yours! its def the only way to race. Moving over and allowing someone to take the position on merit is part of racing and one of the aspects i like most. Is so hard to find people you trust to drive like that with, hope the series finds a few more as there are already more than a few here!

Sorry for bailing on the practice session guys. Just got a message on facebook from some guy claiming I was kissing a girl who had a boyfriend, so I was on the verge of going into a meltdown, which now has been resolved and everythings good again. Except for some 'tough guy' telling me to watch my back... Lol

 'Tough Guys' are basically insecure people who are on the verge of being depressed, or are depressed, who like to single out people just because you have something they don't. Best thing to do; Keep pushing your luck ;) (Not really)

Yeah worked out he's jealous that I'm hanging out with the girl he wants. Im thinking the ignore it and it will go away approach might work... lol

yeah i wouldnt be too worried mate, have experience MANY situations like this!, just keep doing your thing with the person you like, life is faaaaaaaaar too short for bothering with people who have serious attitude problems so just make yourself happy!

on another note, welcome to Erracht! this is a great series with some amazingly cool ppeople racing like crazy! i hope you have a really great time with us. If you need help with tuning dont hesitate to ask Soks, he knows his stuff with the beemer and is a really good guy. Any questions about race formats or alike, Itz is your man, also a great guy and extremely friendly!

Bring on Brands Hatch! whoooop!

its alright, I spent the first 15 minutes thinking 'what have I done here' while waiting for her to confirm what I already knew which was good news. Then i spent the next 15 minutes weighing up if I fire up and give the little brat a serve or just ignore him, eventually choosing the ignore option. And now I've spent the last 90 minutes trying to cheer up the girl because she's stressing out. So all in all, good times haha...

anyway back to what's important on here... RACING!!!

Glad to have erracht on board in the BMW filling the position vacated by NW48 in the BMW group. I have actually raced with erracht on a few occasions some time ago so its good to have a familiar drive lining up with us on the grid. As mtla1984 has said, don't hesitate to ask questions, everyone here is very friendly and willing to help out. I actually have a half reasonable BMW tune if you need help with setups. Of course nosoks may be more advanced in his tuning and he too is a great person to talk to and always willing to help anyone :)

Drivers briefing will be posted once gtplanet allows me to add pictures...
