Hmm, in my opinion to be good at travian you must have some skill for knowing how to properly attack your opponent and how to defend. This requires a strong network of friends to help in the early stages until you have enough villages to defend alone or don't mind losing the resources and only defend conquering trials. You also must be very active or your account will quickly fall out of the top of the rankings and your army will be too small to compete. Being good at Travian necessarily requires you to spend a lot of time playing it. The time spent relates also to your involvement in other things like forums, wikis and your responsibilities in the alliance. Does the game take less time if you don't stay up all night to sit 7 accounts in your alliance? Sure, but it used to drive me crazy knowing my allies were getting hit when I was online and could have def. them, or seeing sloppy timing and knowing I could have defeated the foe.

Still no e-mail. I saw on the forum that others have started to get them. And that some are complaining about newbie protection.

What a silly whine. They know damn well that many of them have little cabals set up whereby 20 players can contribute to one village, and vice versa.

Unfortunately, I've never been so lucky to have a network that strong.

I say good if a guy that can't play 24/7 with virtually 20 sitters has a bit of break from mr 5 villages in 2 months.

This will get interesting. Tonight my father decided he wanted to go to Veil Colorado or Boston Mass. in 2 weeks, then the next week after that is State Fair, and then the next two weeks after that is the family vacation. I will have no time to play, but I will try anyways!

My contention that pre-registration is an advantage was challenged by some at the game's forum because the game start time is the same for all players. But my contention is sound. Having more time to receive an e-mail, most notably the activation code e-mail, before the start of the game has to give an advantage if a delay in the reception of said e-mail could occur before or after the start of the game, as it's clearly possible with the pre registration e-mail problem, and presupposing the delay of the e-mail pre start time is not so great that it is not received by myself after the game starts.
