TT #48 Skylines 480PP Deep Forest: 700PP Race Cars Cape Ring

After getting into the top 10 and slipping back out and doing this for a couple of times, tonight,I resorted to using active steering (mild) as only 2 other people in the top 10 were persevering without it-now there's only 1(Dart).

I have often thought it was an unfair advantage and boy,now I know.

The consistency of your laps improves no end, leaving you with a new found ability to push the limits.

I had a 1.24.8xx without act.steer and did a 1.24.7xx using it,within a few laps(after a bottle of wine-I hasten to add)-so not much faster but it makes any small mistake less consequential.

I've never liked using it because it makes the car control seem artificial and takes away a lot of the skill required to play the game.

I feel it should be frowned upon being used,as SRF is.

Any thoughts on this matter?

I think PD should ban this aid to be honest.

P.S. no reply to my PM to my request for permission,so if it's not answered by tomorrow,I'll post my tune anyways.

GT5 should banned all aids also ABS with aids its like Mario kart.

Yes-I agree, but no abs does disadvantage pad users.

Not sure its 'Mario Kart' but I see your point.
Any 'Aid' should help a less able player improve their times, not help an accomplished player 'polish their turd' as it were ;)

I don't mind if people use aids or not. I'm just glad SRF isn't allowed in these TT's.

Here we go again with the elitist statements.

Although I can drive with ABS 0, I think the aids need to stay for the less skilled players and those who don't have a wheel. Not everybody is as skilled as you or may be fortunate enough to have a wheel. I think the seasonals are just fine the way they are as far as the driving options go. Just because you are skilled enough to run without aids, doesn't mean others should have to be subjected to run the same way. Also, not everyone is as serious of a racer as you are. There are alot of casual gamers that run these TT's who also may not be as skilled as you. Just some things for you to take into consideration here before making statements like that. I respect your skill and speed, but completely disagree with you on this. We've had this discussion before in other threads, I really don't think we need to go through it again.

Haha that is kinda of funny. ^^^

I spent about 10 laps at cape ring earlier in the Peugeot 908 hdi fap (I think that's the name, it's the blue one in the premium dealer) It's a pretty good car for the tt. I did the oil change (which left it at 698pp) and left everything stock and was able to get down to a 2:18 with no assists and no abs with a 7-4 brake bias on my g27. If I get the time I will tune it a little and see if I can make a run for the leaders.

Managed a slightly quicker lap before work, got a 1'25.16 for 33rd - had a few laps with active steering, then turned it off and beat my time on the second lap :)
I can't seem to adjust to it, although it does seem easier on the last corner, as I didn't have to make as many small corrections to the steering.

I think the first sector is very crucial as its hard to make up considerable time over the rest of the lap. If I don't manage a .4 or quicker through the first sector I restart now.
Lost about a tenth through the tunnel after the first sector and about half a tenth through the final section, so ideally would like to make a 1'24.9 by the deadline.
Tweaked the brake balance to 6/7 now.

Bad news about the tune posting-he's replied and said that he wants to keep it secret because he could do a possible 24.3 with it so I'm gonna respect his wishes - sorry fellas.

I've shared the fundamental -25/+35 ride heights and Yinato usually posts his tunes after the second weekend of each TT so, fingers crossed.

Use Numbnuts' tune. It might not be as good as Yinato's, and we may never know, but it gained me 2s on stock. Thank you Numbnuts.

Edit

If anyone wants a tune for a 1963 1500 deluxe I've got one capable of bronze. And that's 21s faster than stock.

No? ...OK

Well ive got to 1.27.570 now the 2nd half of the course is where i really lose out, just before entering the 1st tunnel at best im 0.800s behind numbnuts ghost but after that i lose alot of time.

maybe i can get into the 26s might adjust the braking as noted somewhere above to 6/7

That's about the same as my best time. I wasted a lot of time tonight trying it with AS on strong thinking it might help. Turns out it takes all the life out of the car and ends up a second slower. As soon as I turned it off I was beating my previous best.

just got 1.27.117, if i can find another 2 tenths i`ll be content

you use it. shut up little baby, this is a geme not a war. and go to drive your go kart.... is better.

Beat my time when you are that fast.
I understand when people need aids.
But the top 20 Guys only use it to drive faster with it.
And aids are for not skilled drivers, not for skilled drivers.
The aids should be are banned for top 20.
I must use ABS1 because without ABS i dont can drive in top10.
But i never use this Active Steering.
I drive Tony Kart and i know with Active Steering thats no Racing and i can say this very good.

GRRRRRR!!!!! i just got a time of 1.26.607 and just touched the grass on the last bend and it made the lap invalid. Does anybody know where that time would have got me?

Cheers, i just got a 1.26.627 came about 345th

Good work. Was that using Numbnuts' tune? I reckon I could find that extra second given more time and a better trans set-up. I couldn't get my ratios to match as usual so I was using a rough approximation. I didn't realise that a Skyline could be so much fun though. I'm hoping I can get another go before it ends and wishing I hadn't spent so much time messing about in the 1500 deluxe.

I agree to a point different controllers need different set ups like active steering etc not every wheel is the same

however I too agree that the abs system is far to good on gt5 abs should be a penalty not an advantage same with traction control

Yeah i used numbnuts tune. You couldnt get your gears to match, had you changed the wheels on your skyline?

Once again, another elitist statement that just doesn't make sense. You can't just ban aids for the top drivers, thats just ridiculous. Everyone has to play by the same rules. And if aids are for unskilled drivers, why the hell are you using them then. If you are so skilled, you should be able to crack the top 10 without ABS 1. And need I remind you, this is a game, not real life. Come down off your elitist pedistal, join the rest of us and have fun with the game and these time trials for what they are....just friendly competition.

No, standard wheels. It was fresh from the dealership. I spent a few minutes trying to match the ratios, failed and gave up. I suspect it's not optimum. Do you ever get into sixth? I was still in fifth at the end of the straight.

Yeah i get into 6th easily, go to your gear ratios and set to default and then set top speed to about 118 mph the adjust the gears one by one to reach a top speed of about 145 mph in the upper right of the screen.

Sometimes the ratio prob can be down to what has been added to a car

With setup I was using(not my tune) the final ratio was nearly all the way to the left-2.260ish - and it was changing up to 6th gear just as the car made the little jump, just before turn 1.

All the other gears were spread evenly on the graph except for 1st and 2nd which were all the way to the left.

Doing 126mph on the line,127mph with a really good exit out of the last turn.

Sorry for being a bit vague-not able to remember the ratios exactly.

Wheels were the Volks ones all the way to the right in the menu.

Hope this helps 👍

Ah so those wheels did affect the gear ratios?

After the 1st bend do you take the car full wack through the next bend or two or do you decelerate or brake a tad?
