As of writing, I have tested 4 of the tunes and will be testing more tonight. I change the oil after each tune and I run the tunes as advertised.

HP won't drop after 2 complete test runs 👍
i know it's only 250 credits but still... xD

btw. i have tested 5 tunes so far as i run only 1 or 2 per day

Sorry that I didn't get my tune submitted in time for this event. I was on a business trip since Wednesday. I think that I am weakest with 4wd cars, but after all of the hot air being tossed around in this thread, I may not be as far off as I think. Sadly, I ran my fastest lap times 1:29's with the WRX in the stock setup. I could make the car more comfortable to drive, but it got about a half second slower, no matter what I tried. Adrenaline, if you still want my tune, I can send it to you.

This is the car I voted for. This is also the track I wanted to run on. A few tunes in and I officially hate them both.

They really need to make custom course generated maps easier to share than by PSN adding everyone and sending through GT... but then I could show you some real tracks to hate... :yuck: ... some are better than others, like this car... it's an ugly POS and drives like it too.

This is more unorganized then the original creator.

What is so complicated about this? It's a detailed layout that explains everything.

Adrenaline isn't making it complicated, he's trying to keep it simple, but people keep wanting the competition to cater to their preferences then crying foul when it doesn't happen.

Changing tracks after tunes were submitted while drivers were testing isn't fair to the tuners.

Funny, I had an inkling it would happen.

I don't see how it should catch anyone out; I personally don't care if it's meant to be 1 track, I'm going to make sure the tune works well elsewhere.

I agree but there's small tweaks to make cars handle better at more then one track. A tuner knows the tune to run on Tsukuba is different the one to run on the Ring.

Yes, but you can very easily compromise and get a tune that works exceedingly well at both.

You're confusing my outline with Psychotik's. My design was based on 3 tracks from day 1 (January 19th), as requested by tuners who felt a 'single track' did not fairly assess their ability. Psychotik was the only one who planned to run the entire monthly battle on a single track, but with 3 rounds of the same track. I took his 'rounds' idea, and combined with my 'multi-track' idea to form what I felt to be the best compromise.

Yup. And after I did all 10 back to back, I don't blame a single one of them for taking their sweet time. I've been keeping the email open, and PM inbox clean, nothing yet, I'll update it as soon as they do!

i'm a little bit confused rigth now....

when does round 2 (and 3) start ?
the opening post says that drivers' results are to be submitted until Feb 25th, does this include rounds 2 and 3 or not ?

until what day do i have to submit my results for round 1 ?

Round 1 deadline is: By Midnight PST on the 25th, all driver lap times must be submitted via e-mail to gtplanet.tgb@gmail.com. (11:59pm PST on the 24th)

Round 2 can't be decided until all of round 1 is done.
February is a bit short on days, so the last round may spill into march, but we can continue 'test driving' while the tuners begin March's cars, if need be. I'm waiting to gauge how long it takes drivers to submit times, to see if we need to change some dates around for upcoming months.

I think you may be pushing your luck with the three round bit, especially if we have more tuners participating in future months. Getting all the drivers to do the a single round of testing of 15-20 tunes is already asking a lot. Perhaps only sending the top three to five to round 2 for a test of a second track should be enough; it will certainly put less strain on drivers.

All of my time will be in tonight. I have two kids, so it's a battle for the TV. . . lol. Anyways, I'm on tune 7 and now fell like I can do better with the first ones that I've tested. So, I'll be gong back and running them again for a few laps to see if I can get better times. I'm not running them in order also.

Thanks for setting this up and administering it Adrenaline, it's really cool to see all the tunes and the commentary.

Would it be possible to see tuner commentary in post #2 after the results are in for a month? As a new tuner it would be super helpful to know why someone chose some setting; I'm having trouble finding this in the forum but I'm trying.

But yeah, thanks to Adrenaline for administering and thanks to all the drivers and tuners who're doing this. This is just plain awesome to see unfold.

If time becomes an issue for drivers, then by all means we can change things around. We won't know until we get there and when we do, I assure you, I'll do my best to accommodate everyones needs within reason.

Perhaps for Round 2 & 3 we cut the laps down to 10 per tune.
40 laps for round 2, 20 for round 3? That's not too bad, but I'm all ears for other drivers input.

Leader board updated, and the thread title shall now contain "DTS: x"
Which stands for Driver Tunes Submitted, so that you can easily see from the main forum, when the main page has been updated with lap times.

For the most part things remained the same, Tune 6 & Tune 4 Each jump up one spot!

Seems the gap between tune 7 and 3 has opened up a bit. Looking forward to more times. :D

Technically that's a mathematical illusion, based on the first driver to submit and their speed relation to the overall average of all drivers combined.

Since it's obvious I was the first driver to submit times, we'll use that as a base.

For every driver faster than me, the margins will decrease.
For every driver slower than me, the margins will increase.

Now that there are 2 tunes being averaged, the above applies, but instead of the variable being me, it will become the average. Faster than the average, margins decrease, slower than the average, margins increase.

But that's also based on the assumption that the majority of drivers will have the same order of personal times.

Edit: I also think, that once the 3rd driver submits times, I'll begin posting the Average Lap times in the leader board, since they'll no longer represent a single drivers times and should no longer effect peoples driving. I think?

Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) All-Wheel Drive exclusive to WRX STI: DCCD uses an electronically managed multi-plate transfer clutch and a mechanical limited-slip differential in conjunction with a planetary-gear-type center differential to control power distribution between the front and rear wheels. Featuring manual and three automatic modes, DCCD splits power 41% front and 59% rear. Sensors monitor parameters such as wheel slippage, steering angle, throttle position, and braking to help determine torque distribution and direct it to the wheels with optimum traction. DCCD also features a limited-slip helical front and Torsen® rear differential.

I'd be interested in getting to the bottom of this... I wonder if it's implemented in game to some degree more than is simply viewable by the grayed out values in the stock differential box and choosing the DCCD over the TSCD would activate this feature? It may not be as noticeable as electronic spoilers or the Veyron's self adjusting ride height on straight aways but doesn't mean it's not there?

It's highly likely it's modeled.

Go pick up an Evo VII from the UCD... Buy the VCD/TSCD and then uninstall it once it's on. Launch it with the stock diff, check the supposed settings, plug them into the VCD. Watch it act entirely differently. ;)

This applies to more than just the Evo and Impreza too. The Skyline GT-R's system is modeled, Audi's Quattro system is modeled and a few more. By installing the aftermarket LSD and TSCD, you're effectively killing the system and turning it into a "normal" 4WD.

why did you install LSD & TSCD into your Audi R8 then, Roj ?
are your settings superior to Audi's ? =D

Yes. Even in GT4 I found myself replacing the LSD's in Audi's. Look at my Skyline GT-R tunes, all use stock LSD and TSCD's. :)

Funny thing is, I like the Hawkeye Impreza's stock LSD and TSCD, but this Kia Rio Impreza has awful stock diffs. :ill:

that's why we should as tuner all buy a car and give these to them to motivate them to win !

10 tuners buy 10 car or more, then give the cars' names to Adrenaline at the end of feb.
Driver who won the driver competition choose his car first, Adrenaline give the car holder's name and they add each other as friend, then give the car.
Then driver who came second choose second between all cars left...
...
The driver that became last choose between some Fiat 500 left and Midget II left :)

More tuners than drivers make more car prizes, so more drivers will submit times, willing to win :)

edit - I've got a Callaway C12 '03, a Furaï Concept '08, a Acura NSX '04, a Honda NSX S-Zero '99, a Nissan Skyline GTR V-Spec LM limited (R33) '96, a Tempest Le Mans GTO '64, a Vauxall VX220 Turbo '00 that could make happy people there... ;)

Average Laps are now being included, tried to clean up the the Leader board with some coding, looks bland, but a lot cleaner.
Tune 5 jumps up two spots!

Congrats Tune 5... come on drivers, I'm too impatient and the suspense is running too long, I need a boost... someone else get some lap times in. :)
