Tuner Wars by Harvey Wallbanger (First 2 battles joined 12/6/11)

The Outlaw Motorsports Garage tunes
Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto “Scarlet Fever”
Having finished the multiple attempted murders that Harvey, The Clueless one, and Onboy had the gall too call a review assignment, I found myself in an conundrum. I had fallen victim to the Simon and Garfunkel siren song of this classic Spider. I had seen across the three psychotic whores the potential that this platform could be greater than the sum of it's parts, so I resolved to make this a reality for myself. Within minutes of beginning testing it became woefully clear that I lacked the chops to tame this beast myself so larceny, general misrepresentation and good old fashioned grand theft auto became the order of the day. Each lady received(unwillingly) another round at the most sacred of racing venues, Nordschleife, in an attempt too unlock their myriad secrets.
No matter how hard I tried, I could not improve upon the engine and transmission of "Black Widow", so it is unabashedly copied here. As for the handling, I "barrowed" elements of both the Outlaw offerings, some of "Little Sister’s" maneuverability with a dash of "Lucrezia’s” sure footedness and voila! So now I present you with "Scarlet Fever". One drive and you will have to be quarantined, or at the very least hospitalized. Good Luck.

Notes: Power band makes this a very good AT car.

Notes 2: Generally very easy handling wise though the tail end can over rotate and force you too get acquainted with the nearest wall. Good luck.

I like how the majority of the car's suspension belongs to me, the gearbox belongs to Krenkme and Desperado just sort of fills in the spots. And what do you mean bad brakes? This one runs a lower balance than mine did! 5/7 vs 6/7!

Exactly! The fronts were TOO strong on yours:sly:. Besides, I posted in The Cafe that I was Dr.Frankensteining a spider.

Make it plainer for me to see. :grumpy: I know, I'm just glad you used so much of what was there.

Its like I said at the end of the review, if I were declaring a winner it would have been yours. Scarlet Fever is really just a rework to suit my knuckle dragger driving style.

What did everyone think of the pics? It was my first time using photomode.

THEY SUCK! :P

I kid, great job with them, though in future, try and avoid capturing a shot with smoke behind the car, it causes the area where the smoke meets the car to have that fuzzy edge which makes it look a bit tacky unless you have photoshop. Just a small detail to look out for.

The pics looked good.

Oh and after looking at the CotW let's bump the battle up to 500PP. Just doing an oil change gives you 441PP with it. Granted the upgrade options for it are a bit limited but it should make 500PP or very close to that.

Been playing with the '83 AE86 most of the day. Fully lightened its still a few kg heavier than the '00. Right now I've added the ECU, Sports Air Filter, and Sports Catalytic Converter giving it 151HP and 397PP. Also installed the 5speed close ratio transmission, height adjustable suspension and Sports Hard tires to match the '00. Makes for very close wins (at least with the ole Wallbanger here driving) in the 400PP seasonal race at Autumn Ring Mini. Lots of slidey fun. While I haven't driven the '00 yet I'm thinking at this point that the '83 will be the better car overall since it allows a lot more options in tuning and setup allowing you to use it across a broader range of events.:odd:

I may have to bow out of the CotW "battle" (like I have a chance :dopey: ). Long haul this week, so I'm not sure when I'll get home to tune. But my Alpine is up and on share if you want to fight with that 👍

If you miss the deadline of the week to tune it up, we'll extend it and change it to make it more fun. Full power, CH/CS tyres.

Tuning the 86SS or the normal AE86 Trueno on comfort compound tyres (Not decided which to go for yet) at full power and minimum weight. :D

Oh okay. Full power with what? If I remember right, the AE86 can be NA, supercharged or turbocharged. The SS can't be supercharged though. :(

Eh…full power with…er…full power! Whatever makes the most power. :D Takumi's 86 wasn't driven by force induction, was it? :P

Turbo makes the most power, so yeah. :P

Takumi's Trueno was NA on both motors (16v & 20v). Wataru's Levin was turbo at first, then he supercharged it.

So turbo it is then. :D Even on CH tyres. :dopey:

I know, which is why the 86SS, which sort of is Takumi's 86, shouldn't be turbo'd in the first place. :P

Reposting my earlier challenge below.

Regarding the CotW how about 500PP on Trial Mountain and to make it more interesting Eiger Nordwand G Trail since the AE86 was a noted Touge and Rally favorite?

The '00 may be just shy of 500PP with all upgrades, I'm not sure as I haven't tried max tuning it yet, but it starts at 441PP and with engine stage 3, titanium racing exhaust and turbo should be close. Also didn't verify that it can mount dirt tires...

So anyways that's the basic idea, if someone has a better challenge suggestion bring it on!

Oh and I'm painting one of my '83s in Jade Green in honor of someone.:D

So we're tuning them to drift on purpose or...?

The 86SS is Shuichi Shigeno's actual AE86, which is what Takumi's is based off. He also owns the real life version of Bunta's Impreza, which should be grey but ended up blue in the anime. :P

No, just for fun. 270hp and sport tyres are boring offline. :P

I know, I read the GT description. :P Misrepresentation?

More Togue/Rally style than dedicated drift car. Say we keep them on the Sports Hards to make it more drifty and challenging?

Yeah and Shuichi Shigeno's actual AE86 is an '83. In real life there is no such thing as a '00 special edition that I could find. It's just been something included in the last couple GT games.

Also my '83 is in honor of a real life racer.:gtpflag:

I knew all this stuff before GT5 even came out. I've not even read GT's description for it.

Sports hards make more sense than comfort hards. I think Onboy just wants to drift.

Yeah, I think PD's logic is that Shigeno finished the car in '00 and so they treated it as a tuner car made in '00.

So are you guys tuning the '83 or the '00? And is there an Alpine battle as well?

Either or, really. We could very well just build both, if the cars were different enough to warrant a different tune.

Shhhhh…! Roj doesn't need to know!!!!!!

All of the above really.

The '00 is the Car of the Week so its the priority to provide a bit of feedback on but my money is on the '83 being the more versatile car.

The Alpine is for Commandos journalistic endevors and plain ole fun:D

Cool. I'll have to see if I have those two cars and give some feed back on them 👍.

I like the way the Alpine looks. Ugly, but in a beautiful way.

We haven't started them yet!

You mean, it's so ugly it's...beautiful?! :dopey:

I'll have to see what my schedule is, but it looks like fun. As a tester, I'll leave the tuning to you experts. 👍
