Count me in for testing the spiders if you need. I'm always looking for ways to sharpen my driving and reviewing skills. Plus, I want to see if anyone can give this classic the grip of it's namesake.

👍 I'll send you a FR if I get home tonight :dopey:

Sorry for the double post, but you just can't tame the Black Widow Spider :dopey:

tune and a stance against evil soon to come (less then 48hrs.)

:dopey:

Have "Lucrezia", my tune of the Alfa Spider Duetto on share if anyone wants to try her out.
NC3BCrburgring20Nordschleife.jpg

Final tune may be slightly different but she is very close. (Final will probably have a 59/41 weight distribution and 172ft-lb torque vs the 58/42 and 170 of the one on share:drool:)

Nice! I like how you chose the same wheels as I did, though mine is in a very traditional red. :D

Alright, I have mine on share now. Amazingly, no work had to be done in the conversion from 441PP to 420PP, but it is running a slightly different parts list than one would expect…

And I'm now in a dilemma, Parts A in tune A, or Parts B in tune B…Same tune all round, different power and weight levels…I need some help.

Alright i'm getting my first crack at the ps3 this week now. let me know what needs to be tested first.

Well here you go :dopey:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lurking in the shadows of the Clueless Garage there is a black spider. Known for killing her lover after mating, this dangerous spider would love for you to take her for a drive. Just don't fall in love, or you may end up.... dead. Look out for the :

Black Widow
Based on the Alfa Romeo Spider 1600 Duetto '66.

nrburgringnordschleife1je.jpg

In the day time the black widow withdraws into an isolated area of its web, which is covered in its own thick webbing, but in the night, it hangs motionless from the center of its web, belly up, in wait for its prey. When its victim gets entangled in its web, the black widow swiftly envelopes the prey by spinning an entanglement of web around it, and jabs it with its fangs to inject its venom. When the prey ceases to move, the spider uses its cheliceral teeth to mash up the wound it makes on it, infuses it with digestive enzymes, then carries it back to its hiding place before feeding on it.

So, Harvey, Onboy, when you're ready, the Black Widow is waiting on you in its web. Let the battle begin. :sly:

Do you dare a bit of a daliance with the seductive "Lucrezia"?
Now on share for those who think they can handle her.
Of course for many this is all they'll be seeing of her...

Just finished testing "Black Widow" and now it is time for "Lucrezia" too get her turn. Full write-ups will be posted here late tonight/early tomarrow. Prepair yourselves, things just might get Hunter S. Thompson WEIRD.:odd::mischievous:

Unfortunately my 🤬 internet won't let me log on and switch the Spider I have on share for the final version. They are very close and I've ran them both around the ring to a time within a few 10ths difference, which considering ole Harvey Wallbanger's quote "driving skills" is fairly amazing in and of itself.

It seems, Harvey, that me and you have VERY different set-ups. This should be very interesting. Now where's the "Boy"? Onboy :dopey:

 Same style as me, apparently.

It's on share, I won't be releasing it yet, so you may as well get going. :dopey:

I decided I wanted to try these 420pp dueling Duetto's. I gave both Lucrezia and Black Widow a go on a one lap around the Nordschleife. I used ABS 1 and real grip settings.

Lucrezia was up first and gave a stellar performance. The balance of the chassis was near perfect. The car would only oversteer on throttle on the sharpest of turns. The brakes worked well but you have to be gentle with the slowing from high speeds. Lucrezia managed a respectable 139mph up the back straight and went on to a 8:04.670 lap.

Black widow was up next and the difference between the two cars could be felt immediately. The widow felt heavier with the extra weight but also even more controllable in the mid-high speed corners. Brakes felt great for the car, could apply them later and turn-in just a bit on higher speed corners. Careful throttle control was mandatory on lower speed corners as full throttle in a sharp corner and this spider could bite you! Black Widow managed 143mph up the back straight and crossed the line with a 8:04.755 lap.

Two great cars, two great tunes, only 0.085 seconds apart!

Good job you two! 👍

@Onboy123 Don't worry your Duetto tune is up next :D

Thanks for the reviews and great times Theo.👍👍

Looks like despite their differences these Italian temptresses are set to have our tightest battle yet.:gtpflag:

Onboy's Duetto finally arrived at the Ring... I almost forgot that I was going to test it as well. But the bright Rosso Alfa paint made me want to give it a go. :dopey:

From the start it feels very weird driving this car after driving Lucrezia and Black Widow. For me its almost like the best attributes of both of those tunes in one car! This tune can handle all of the the different corners quite well. Oversteer is now present in low and mid speed corners but can be controlled easily with less throttle. The curbs around the Nordschleife are this car's main challange. The rear tires would smoke after a very close pass to one corners apex. Brakes work great and gave predictable results. The car achieved a 141mph on the back straight and finished with an 8:04.247 lap.

Close to perfect for this car and my driving style. Well done Onboy! 👍

Woot! And the fastest time as well, I thank you, my good sir! :D I'll try to fix the oversteer, though I might not bother if it's going to cause more highspeed handling issues. But yea, thanks! :D

Nice job guys. Mind if I have a look at the alfas this evening?

Oh and parrot boy, do you remember our discussion about pandas yesterday?

And which garage is friend Theo associated with? :sly:

Yup. Krenkme, your argument has been invalidated. :dopey:

Wow, reading Theo's lap times just gave me an inferiority complex. I'm thinking I will keep my reviews purely subjective(read substandard) and go for the entertainment value. :banghead:🤬🤬:banghead:

Don't worry about laptimes, I've had to deal with being slower by a good few seconds since the day I started reviewing. And that was 5000 odd posts ago, back to when I joined.

Great times Theo 👍 I hope you enjoyed it and she didn't bite you too badly

This is how a fair testing happens, you should take notes. Now if you'll excuse me I need to talk to Theo about an unrelated subject.:grumpy:

Same style of tuning, mate, it can't be that different. Apart from the ballast placement…the ride height…the diff…the whole suspension…apart from that, there's really nothing between our cars.

Don't be a sore loser, you grumbling old fart. Go give it a spin, and then you should see why it was 0.5 seconds faster. And better to drive. :P
