TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - ENDURO Racing Series - PRACTICE TONIGHT!

Depends on if you consider the Sapphire Blue Pearl/Metallic paint chips dark blue or not. I use the pearl chip and only use the metallic if I've forgotten to make more of the pearl.

I looked at the Sapphire Metallic paint chips and two had the same name but they were different shades. :dopey: Just go ahead and use it. If you race together and we can't tell the cars apart we'll address it then. So, just let us know the car number. Thanks!

This is my starting Cockpit for my wheel, not the greatest, planning on adding a racing seat in the future and painting it later, and considering mounting the peddles, what do you guys think, built it myself! I'd be happy to hear some suggestions in the future! Thanks again! See you in the F1 race tonight!

Just in case anybody cant see the picture in this thread.

Looks like my picture isnt working for some people. dangit

Where were you running off (entry, mid corner, exit)? On the brakes? On the gas?

To be consistent you need to set up marks for braking and throttle, so you are doing the same thing in the same place every lap (or at least most of the time). It then makes it much easier to tell if a change helps or not.

Don't worry about racing, just drive the track, work on being smooth and speed will come.

Some were brakes in the entry and some were gas in the exit. I think I'm just getting used to my setup and a non-tuned car. I have been racing tuned Ferrari's and Lambo's in the seasonal and been doing quite well. Come to find out though, I may not be taking my trip until Sunday so I still may be able to make Saturdays race. I'm Div 3, so things will have to go better then.

Great, we hope you can make the race. Now you have to tune your driving to the car. That's lot's of fun and very rewarding. :)

General question about GT5 race theory: if on a grid start you are mid pack and you either get better traction, more pp, etc, than the person directly ahead is it ok to take action to go around or check speed? Not a problem for me. Just for knowledge/discussion. I have read the rules for race craft and the rules of the league and I respect them. In the heat of the race what is the right action?

In this league you hold station unless there is a massive error made from the person in front of you. For the most part you have plenty of time to make all the passes you need.

However, in one of my other leagues that utilizes the false start this is a great opportunity to make a pass.

You can pass before turn one if you can get ahead of the car ahead, if not, then let them go.

Great question, I am glad you asked it. Below is the league policy.
The First Turn Rule - It is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1 and not try to improve it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. 4) If you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn.
In the situation you described you are welcome to pass the other driver(s) as long as it is not in the approach to the corner. The approach to the corner is generally pretty obvious. It's when drivers start getting aligned and maneuvering into their driving line just before braking begins for the corner. Once that happens drivers should be doing their best to avoid an incident rather than worrying about being dive bombed. I hope that helps. :)

I appreciate the information thank you! I know that these are the cleanest races I have participated in online. Looking forward to the M3 on saturday!

Wondering what your lap times were around? Im running 2.05s but I think some of you guys are running like 2.03s maybe.

After the Formula 1 race last night I was running 2:07s but needed an oil change. With the oil chenge I would be running 2:06s. RacingOtaku86 was running 2:05s.

Thanks psycho! Guess I was running fast times then.

Micantony pulled fast lap at practice of 2:05.1xx with 0 miles on car. Myself and tzracer ran a 2:05.5 a few times. I was 0 miles, don't know about tzracer.

Psycho Turtle
I have some work to do! :)

My average fast laps were typically in the low 2:06's. You only really get 3-4 laps at full speed due to the "fast" tire wear this round. This race is going to be about consistent laps not fast laps I think. ( I know that was a generic statement, but being a second slower in the early laps might not hurt as much if you have better tires in the later laps) On laps 10 and 11 of each stint I was averaging mid 2:08's to low 2:09's when I was backing off a bit.

Turtle Racing League - Enduro Racing Series

Race 32: Grand Valley Speedway / Reverse
Car: BMW M3 Coupe '07
Laps: 22
Tires: Sport Softs
Date: March 30, 2013
Prize: 1994 Birthday Ticket

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports
"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

Rules

You are expected to follow The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

"Rubbin"

This is a non-contact sport. Let me put it another way, if you are "rubbin", you ain't racing in this league! We will not tolerate individual drivers taking the fun out of racing for everyone.

First Turn

You are not going to win the race on the 1st turn or the 1st lap. Therefore, it is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1. Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. You must hold your position through the 1st turn and make no attempt to advance it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. Other drivers may draft past you before the approach to turn 1 if it can be done incident free. In other words, if you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn you may. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to take advantage of other drivers doing their part to keep turn 1 incident free. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable, and only results in accidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry, so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass him on the low side.

Procedures

• Division 1 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division1 lounge

• Division 2 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division2 lounge

• Division 3 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division3 lounge

Connection Issues

Please follow the procedures below to help minimize connection issues.

Step 1: Reboot your modem/router
Step 2: Reboot your PS3
Step 3: Clear your GT5 in game System Cache

Pit Stops

Drivers need to be very careful entering the race track when exiting the pit. Please look at your map to see if other drivers are near the pit exit. Drivers exiting the pit need to stay in the pit exit lane until the track is clear of cars on the track. Cars on the track have the right of way.

Quitting

Drivers are expected to finish races no matter what position they are in. Rage quitting is frowned upon! :grumpy:

Microphones

Although you are welcome to use microphones during the race, they should only be used to communicate your proximity to other drivers in order to avoid an incident. Otherwise, either mute them or make sure any background noise in non-existent.

Reminders

• Hold your position and do not attempt advance it in turn 1 of lap 1

• If you go off track make sure the track is clear before you renter

• If you cause an accident you must wait and give the position back

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

Final Note

Race Clean and Have Fun!
