Race Recap

Division 1: Congratulations to DREX81 on his Race 2 win and getting 1st Place overall. DREX81 was the only driver to run 2:01s in both races. Great racing DREX81! martin_ky got the Pole and had the fastest lap time but a few mishaps along the way landed him in 2nd Place overall. RacingOtaku86 continues to well especially in the AWD/4WD cars. Being fast and consistent led to a 3rd Place overall finish. Garage-father went from 1st Place in Race 1 to last place in Race 2. But, the Race 1 win and a very fast lap time secured 4th Place for him in a 3 way tie at 75 points with micantony and Psycho-Tuber. micantony had a rough Race 1 but pulled things together for a nice 2nd Place finish in Race 2 for 5th Place overall. Psycho-Tuber had a clean Race 1 for a solid 4th Place finish. Race 2 was quite eventful, (we'll leave it at that) which lead to a 5th Place finish and 6th Place overall. Scarecrow937 in his 1st Division 1 race was very consistent. Two 6th Place finishes wrapped up 7th Place overall. Unfortunately, liampage123 was not able to get into the Division 2 lounge and the result was 8th Place overall.

Division 2: Congratulations to mbobb1969 on his two 1st Place finishes and overall win. mbobb1969 does very well in the AWD/4WD cars. Being very fast and very consistent led to the overall win. Great racing mbobb1969! ph1sher wasn't far behind with two very good 2nd Place finishes for 2nd Place overall. Johnny_Suede and FuManchu11 swapped places in the races which lead to a tie at 81 Points. Johnny_Suede won the "Tie Breaker" and 3rd Place overall. FuManchu11 wrapped things up with 4th Place overall.

Division 3: Congratulations to redsox111820 on his two 1st Place finishes and overall win. Like mbobb1969 being fast and consistent lead to the overall win. Great racing redsox111820! flesxruoyxllik wasn't far behind in what was some very close and exciting racing in the division. A 2nd Place and 3rd Place finish was good enough for 2nd Place overall for flesxruoyxllik. Scorpion937 had a very good Race 2, but no points from Race 1 lead to his 3rd Place overall finish.

Division A: jaydoc_and_meech had Division A all to himself. But, that didn't stop him from being right in the middle of all the close racing with the Division 3 drivers though. Two 1st Place finishes and the Pole gets jaydoc_and_meech a 100 Point win!

Congratulations, great racing guys!

Ph1sher, I'm getting an error as well, but mines 21:12.

Looks like gt5 server is down at the moment, hopefully it's up before practice!

Dang, I look GOOD. That car is not awesome, it's sexy.

Wow martin! Great photos. I have a question though, in the photo of RacingOtaku86 on the grid, was his driver actually playing Sega as he waited for the race to start?

Oh boy, someone still remembers that...

 He is looking down isn't he.

Keep it coming...

You should ask Scarecrow937, he is looking right at him.

Yeah, he was, I guess. I bet he was wondering which epic Sega game I was playing.

I'm pretty sure I spotted a Game Gear at the start. He passed me a lap or so in...if you listen to the replay, you can hear him collect the rings I dropped, lol.

Dang, you knew I was playing Sonic. Just not on the brick that is the Game Gear, on the account that I didn't have 6 AA batteries for it. No, it was on my PSP, a sexier brick. :)

Really, this made me laugh a bit. Maybe for that, I'll play Sonic for you guys.

I'm still not able. Seems like the error is less severe, now it just states it can't connect to server, but no error code.

Well...a tough one there. Got my @$s handed to me on the first practice and got booted from the server on the second. My main concern is how my race holds up to the no rubbin' rule. If anyone has any constructive criticism, let me know. I'm up for it. Either way, had fun, ready to do it again. Unfortunately, I have to leave town on short notice so I will miss the weekend races.

Good practice by everyone, not trying to be wanty or anything but I need tips coming off turns with my G27 wheel, the car seems to want to slide right off the turn I'm guessing I need to go half throttle through turns. Just asking for some advice. Thanks again guys:tup:

The wheel is awesome even if I'm skidding all over the place:tup:

I know I don't run in any of the Turtle series but I've been watching this thread for a couple of weeks.

I've had my G27 for about 3 months now, after using a DFGT for over a year, and I would advise you to try different settings for Force Feedback and sensitivity. I have mine set to 3 and 7 respectively. You might want to adjust the power steering assist level as well. Another thing comparing the G27 to the DFGT is you can drive more with your fingertips versus the palms of your hand. I get a much better feel for what the car is doing with the 27 than I ever did with the DFGT. And while I may not be any faster now than I was before, it sure feels like I am.

Thanks man, i put my feedback to 1, but i guess i should pop it up a little. I definitely will be practicing a lot more often now, This wheel is a lot of fun, but as of now it can be pretty frustrating since it is just my second day of this wheel, the only thing thats improving in the last 2 days were less spin outs, and less penaltys. Thanks again!👍

The thing about FFB that makes me nervous about running it up very high is the strain on the electro/mechanics. I hear some wheel users run their FFB as high as it will go and wish there was more, but I prefer tech that lasts over bleeding out early.

Good luck and keep driving.

Great practice tonight! Seems I followed my trend of doing great first practice and not so good the second, but the third was almost incident free for me (aside from my cold tires early turns). Thanks for the BB advice!!

I got booted from the second race; not sure what happened. I just assumed it was part of the same errors that were going on before. Either way I had a tough time with that car. Couldn't seem to keep it off the grass and that car is horrible in the grass. I did turn in one 2:17 lap, but had no consistency.

I've missed few good Enduro races recently... I have 80% chance that I can drive on Saturday. I hope to see you all!

Yeah man! It's always great to race with you, looking forward to your return!

It takes a lot of practice. Just stick with it. Last night may have seemed a little tough in comparison to the other racers, but (if I remember correctly) they are all in divisions above 3 besides me, so they do have a higher skill level. Hope you join us for the race on saturday!

I have a fully broken in BMW M3 now. As I wont be attending the race Saturday, if anyone would like it, just shoot me a friend request and/or message on PSN and I will shoot it your way tonight or tomorrow (won't be around saturday, so the clock is ticking :) )

It's all Detailed and ready to go.

Wow Garagefather that is a super sweet wheel stand! If you don't mind me asking, what is it made out of? Thanks!

Primarily MDF. Medium Density Fiber Board. It is dense and stable and has a uniform thickness for precise tolerances. It is a pain to paint though. At least 2 coats of primer with sanding after each coat and 2-3 coats of color with sanding between coats. Very time consuming in the finishing department but the results are nice.:)

I've had my G27 cranked to 8 or higher since I bought it back in 2010. I've played Dirt 2, Dirt 3, Grid, F1 and all sorts of games with much harder FF impacts and it's handled it like a champ. still going strong

Garagefather, have you considered making a mount on it to hold a Monitor?

Yes. I have considering making a monitor mount but it would make the unit more of a permanent cockpit which goes against the design philosophy of pro features for the average racer in a normal setting where a cockpit would be less than acceptable due to size, space, and the opinion of significant others.

Since it is custom and hand built. Anything is possible. If I did design a unit that would have a monitor mount, I would probably do a complete cockpit setup with seating. I would also probably get rid of the center post and go with a crossover setup because getting in and out of the cockpit would be a lot easier with a crossover design. With just a stand, you can slide it out of your way to get up. In a cockpit, you can't do that so a properly designed crossover setup would be preferred. That being said, I have seen cockpits with crossover designs that would be terrible to get in and out of. It is all in the design. The biggest challenge with crossover designs is incorporating the range of adjustments w/o being extremely complicated. If you really study most cockpit designs, you will find they often lack some axises of adjustment which forces compromise.

Hello fellow Snail, you should consider joining Turtle. The racers are every bit as clean as Snail with a much friendlier and warmer atmosphere. While I like both Snail and Turtle, I have always felt more welcome in Turtle.:)

Come on down Dragonwhisky its your turn on the!!!!!!!!! Oh sorry wrong show. All kidding aside you are more than welcome to come race with us. What are you waiting for an open invitation.:sly:

Thanks for the information Choate51. I worry about my wheel getting hot during Rally races. I think I can enjoy them a little more having confidence my wheel won't be destroyed. 👍

While I appreciate the interest and have been considering joining since discovering the TURTLE league, I am already committed to SNAIL on Sunday nights and on occasion will jump in to one of their Friday or Saturday night events.

I would be happy to run with the TURTLES but at present would only be spot racing and probably even more casual than your most casual current racer. If this is acceptable, sign me up. My number choice is customarily 13 but since that is taken I'll have to think about it some. Colors are Blue on the car and Blue on the wheels unless I like how it looks with the stock color of whatever wheel it ends up with.

Hey Dragonwhisky, you are welcome to race with us as much or as little as you like. If you don't mind though, could one of your colors be light blue or dark blue. We already have a driver that has selected Blue/Blue. Thanks, and welcome to the Turtle Racing League. We look forward to racing with you!

Where were you running off (entry, mid corner, exit)? On the brakes? On the gas?

To be consistent you need to set up marks for braking and throttle, so you are doing the same thing in the same place every lap (or at least most of the time). It then makes it much easier to tell if a change helps or not.

Don't worry about racing, just drive the track, work on being smooth and speed will come.

Depends on if you consider the Sapphire Blue Pearl/Metallic paint chips dark blue or not. I use the pearl chip and only use the metallic if I've forgotten to make more of the pearl.

Yes, they look great. Do you use a spray gun to paint them? Sorry for all the questions.
