TwinTurboCH's drift rooms for regular drift practice.

Have fun! :D
When you enter a drift room, go to Garage>Recommended and get any RWD/4WD and drift with that.

EDIT: Or i can duplicate my fully tuned D1 Spec Lexus IS200 for free for you. Just hope you like it yellow. ;)
Or If you really want, my blue SLS-AMG with a bodykit and spoiler! :P
Or.....both of possible! lol

Ehhhh.... no!

Only use for 4WD drifting is sliding around a dirt track in effort to keep the car pointing in the direction of the corner exit so it won't under-steer into a ditch!

And I wouldn't pick a recommended car really as they just won't slide that nicely for you apart from initially throwing them into a corner.

You could have a very decent first drift car for 50-100K anyway by just getting something RWD in the UCD with about 200-350bhp, sticking a triple plate clutch on it, coilovers and a LSD with comfort tyres and your away for slates and when you improve you can get something better or alittle different or a car that suits your style when you find it and blow half a million on it :D

You have a point with the first comment lol, I personally think RWD is the only way to drift but then again other people might think different! A recommended car can drift......if you know how to drift with it ;). Lol thats what I did with my first car, and intend to do with my second, I find it confusing how most people manage to read my mind lol. XD

I'm a lonely drifter that misses every events you guys putting up.. :( So please add me!

If anyone fancies practising drifting Friday and Saturday nights, add Psn: SyG_RiiVAL , I'm pretty new to it all, but it would be nice to practice with some like minded people :D

I'm in UK, so GMT. If I'm drifting online, it's normally between 8pm and 2am GMT.

For those interested, I'll be setting a room up in 1 hour after i finish watching a film with my GF. :) I'll post number here once it's up.

I've literally just started drifting in GT5 and have never done so in real life. Maybe spent 4-5 hours practicing so far, time flies when you're practicing so it could be more even. I've got to the stage where I can initiate and maintain a pretty weak drift but am still inconsistent. Linking is some way off for me currently but I'm slowly getting used to the level of throttle I need to use.

Would I need to be better to come along and hope for some tips or should I get a bit better before I do so?

I'm G27'd and mic'd up. Live in Amsterdam so UK time +1.

PSN as in my profile name.

BTW... Do you know Dan Joyce (Dirty Sanchez and Low Brain drift video guy)? He's a good mate of mine and it was him that got me interested to learn.

Feel free to join mate, everyone is welcome as long as they aren't in 4wd LOL

Yeah I know Joycey, only really see him at events though as he's always with the Severnside (low brain) lot and they're all over in Wales (obviously).

LOL... Thought you may know him. Yeah, he's pretty Wales'd up for a guy from Cornwall :)

I'll look out for when you're on and currently I have 3 drift cars set; A Datsun Bluebird retro job, an S15 and a cute little RM'd Capucino... Read it may be good to grasp the basics in. Won a tuned up 370Z last night and that seems fun running stock with comfort hards on too. No 4WD ;)

Cheers man. I'll get a bit more practice until the next one is up 💡

Im not online on the PS3 yet but would definately be interested in joining this crowd.

Ive been lurking for a while on this forum and noticed that you definately know your stuff TTCH.

Was just wondering how you think drifting in GT5 (with a wheel, obviously) compares with real life? (out of interest, what wheel do you use?)

I ask, as there is some debate on another forum i use that GT cant really teach oversteer control for real life, and seeing as im not a pro drifter, i wondered if you could shed some light.

And i had to laugh at that KSL idiot trying to shout you down.

Happy sliding!

CH iintially learned how to drift in real life from drifting on GT and the likes so I reckon GT5 is reasonably realistic as its the closest out of any game so far to real-life drifting feel that I've played.... but in saying that, I myself still can't link a fecking corner with my G25 yet which is annoying as I can link a whole lap with the DS3 :nervous:

However CH uses his G25 to great effect to be fair to him :)

Any idea when you might be able to host another session James? I've got my connection sorted now anyway so at least I'll be able to stay in the room for more than 2 or 3 corners now :)

I see, so relatively realistic.

Before i killed my DFGT i was getting rather good with it, extending drifts, linking corners in the same direction (autumn ring) and switching directions. Im quite good with the DS3, but ive been drifting with a pad for years, so its nothing new, but i was actually getting much better angles and apex speeds with the wheel, and starting to get genuinely half decent at drifting with it.

Cant wait to sort out my replacement.

In another thread on here TTCH was saying about how him and James Deane (of Prodrift and Formula D fame) both learnt to drift on Gran Turismo. And that was with DS2 controllers, so I could only imagine that using a wheel with force feedback will be even better. I'm sure he'll be along soon to properly answer your question :)

Sorry for not replying sooner, been busy the last week or so. Basically, I started drifting on GT3 (good physics for it with the controller), then moved onto GT4 with a DFP. That was hastily dumped after it turned out Polyphony had set the physics up so that any more than mild wheelspin opened the diff up completely.

It was at this point that I started drifting in real life and found that, after the experiences in GT5 (and a bit of wet 2-stroke karting) I pretty much knew what to do straight away and was promoted to 'pro' within 4 months of starting. Within 6 months I was awarded 100-points for a run performed in qualifying at D1GB by our guest judge, none other than the then D1GP champion, Yasuyuki Kazama, and then within 9 months of first driving a drift car, I was battling the very same Yasuyuki Kazama at Silverstone in the D1 exhibition match. So I'd say it works.

At this point I moved onto Enthusia, again with the DFP (the physics of which were leaps and bounds ahead of GT4 and are comparable with GT5).

When PS3 came out I moved onto GT5P and soon after upgraded to a G25 with a full VisionRacer pod with speakers etc.

All of them taught me a lot, but without a doubt GT5 with a G25 is the ultimate for drift practice (with Enthusia an INCREDIBLY close 2nd). I can try techniques on GT5 and then try them in real life and get the same results, and I can tell you right now that having all of these advantages has saved me thousands of pounds in crashes and made me, arguably, one of the best drifters in Europe.

Soon dude, have been having to take an enforced break as having to smash B-Spec and 24hour races aren't conducive to getting online LOL

Some good info there! :)

I was trying to string a few more corners together with the wheel earlier when I came home but still failing misserably... I think I'm just trying too hard to be honest rather than re-learning the basics as doing it with the wheel is a good bit harder than with the controller or what I have done so far in real life.

Too tired to try any more though so just resorted to an easy game of assasins creed for the night, lol.

Practice... practice...practice though:)

Oh a fellow Enthusia fan! I still miss the FC shift sound (when you over rev) going crazy on Dragon Range!
Too bad the game haven't had commercial success, would have been great to have an Enthusia 2 on PS3!

Bumping this thread back up, I've just created a room.
