At 00:36, it's clear he didn't make any contact.

again you refer to the same angle as you posted earlier. my argument is that it is recorded at 30 frames per second and the camera may have missed the moment of contact. other angles show contact. plus he rotates pretty well "without" contact.

and also many agree that it was reckless and is deem able red card. some refs may give yellow, this one happened to give a red. i still stand by my other argument also that it was high, lifted both his feet of the ground, studs showing and the follow through his knees dont bend to pull it back he just kept going.

there will always be two sides of this. can we both agree to that at least?

Near for my ideal outcome in the 2 UEFA CUP Semi-Finals and for a all Portuguese Final(first time in History) in a UEFA Competition!:)

UPS PENALTY.:grumpy:

congrats. proto really tore villarreal apart in the first leg. even in this second leg i think porto much better specially on villarreal soil they prove top be superior (though the scoreline may not say so entirely)

Should be a good match aswell.

Well I agree with the 2 sides thing.

hehe okay cool. definitely cant wait till the final. i have many friends who are united fans so i hope to go to a sports bar and watch it with them :)

Can't believe Barcelona's regional synchronised diving team made it to the champions league final

every highlight show i have watched, every paper i have read says he deserved the red card. pepe came out with studs showing at knee level, and a couple angles do show contact, but thats not even the point because without contact that is still a very dangerous tackle. also if u notice pepe's has left both his feet of the ground, knees and ankles locked and his eyes shut. to me thats reckless. i am still ashamed at alves' theatrics as i dont think it was necessary of him to do that or leave on a stretcher. if pepe didnt get the red im sure adebayor or marcelo would have gotten it for their acts of aggression. adeboyor with the punching slap or whatever it was and marcelo for stomping.

lets just hope we see a cracking final as we all know that not only fans of either teams will be watching but a lot of neutral fans will also be watching as this event is as mentioned by someone else as big as the world cup.

Funny because everywhere I read/saw said different, that Pepe did not deserve the red card. Even live during the game the announcers were saying it should not have been a red.
It was a 50-50 ball, both players went for the ball, and no real contact was made. Dani Alves' acting, along with the whole Barca team crying to the foul, is what led to Pepe's sending off. Most likely Alves's leg started going back due to contact with the ball as Pepe touched ball too. His leg didn't go back due to contact as no contact was made. Alves most likely threw his whole body out to make it more than what it was. Got to take some acting classes from the school he goes to..

I'd agree that Pepe deserved a red had he gone through the player carelessly with studs up. He didn't. The only part of his body that was towards Alves was his leg that went up towards the ball. His body was moving away to avoid contact. It wasn't malicious at all and the red card was BS. At most, had the referee thought it was a foul, Pepe should have seen a yellow, not red.

I think Adebayor's charging antics, practically going through players with his arms up high, was more deserving of a red than Pepe's was.

Should still be a good final pending Barca doesn't go on with their diving and acting.

Yeah, Dublin will be a perfect set for it...might try to go there to see FC PORTO take the cup!:)

Braga x Porto should be a great final! My buddy asked me yesterday if I wanted to go to this final. He said he had an extra ticket as his friend, SLB fan, doesn't want to go now so I'm tempted!

Yep, Braga. Lost in Lisbon 2-1, won at home 1-0. 2-2 on AGG, but away goal rule sees Braga go to the final.

Champions League final today! I'm so excited. Barcelona are of course favourites, but I can see United win it. I feel that Barcelona is slightly over hyped by the media, they're a incredible team but are certainly beatable. United are better in some aspects, such as physical strength, more experienced manager, arguably better subs.
And I hope there will be no acting at all at Wembley tonight.

Stupid Barcelona, cheating their way to the final. As a United supporter I hope we beat them to show all those retarded Barca fanboys there is more to a club than the name Villa and Messi.

I've started a business selling diving equipment. At the moment we only stock Barcelona shirts.

It's going to be fun to watch as a neutral supporter.
I'm a fan of English football (after my home team that is :)), so I'm kind of leaning to a Man U. win.

My beer is cold, the food is standing in front of me.

Bring on the game!

Go Man U!

About 20 mins until kick-off. No Berbatov for Man United, he's replaced by Owen, who "feels he will score an important goal this season". I hope he does it today, but it's definitely harsh on Premier League top scorer. But it's Champions League, where he hasn't scored since October 2008, 4-digit number of minutes, I can't recall the exact number.
On the upside (for United) Carles Puyol is not in starting 11, replaced by Javier Mascherano.
BTW: I've heard a pretty good joke today: what is the difference between Barcelona player and John Terry? Barcelona player dives for a penalty, Terry dives while taking penalty.

What we want to see tonight!

^Oh yes 👍

Not long to wait now, I'm obviously hoping that the team I support (Man United) win tonight.
