Man City and Man United both crashed out of the CL. Don't recall if these clubs go to the Europa League but I bet you if they do that all these sports announcers will now say how good this smaller tournament now is... lol

Chelsea are the only EPL team to go through to the next round.

Arsenal have gone through too although I don't think they will get very far. Both Manchester clubs will go into the Europa League but I still think no one will really care about it.

All Manchester final for the Europa League??

Very rare to see Man Utd go out at this stage. Arsenal, although they have never won the Champions League, still have a very impressive record - although I don't see them getting much further either - nor Chelsea for that matter.

D'oh!! completely forgot about Arsenal!! Don't know why either as I was just watching highlights the other night lol

My money's on Real Madrid to take the CL this year. If not Madrid, then I'd peg Barcelona and if not them I'd give it to Chelsea only because I'm a fan of AVB (obviously lol)

I can see Chelsea stuttering at the semis again. Arsenal it'l be down to the draws, it's pretty clear they are a long way off the likes of Barcelona and Madrid.

Mancini has said he wants to go all they way in the Europa League and with a squad as deep as his I don't see why not. Manchester United will probably concentrate on the Premier League and maybe the FA Cup now, their squad has looked thin all season and despite their relatively good results so far, they are only just scraping by.

My moneys on Barcelona again.

"...and if I had to say I would point my money to Inter as well, wasn't it for Arsenal, who by the way have great chances to win it, but I also think Bayern will win it this time. I really am going to bet for Lyon though. But I don't think we should erase Leverkusen just yet so my money are on them."

I'm pretty sure it's between Barcelona and Real Madrid. To me, Real Madrid has a slightly higher chance to win.

Last 16

Lyon (Fra) v APOEL (Cyp)

Napoli (Ita) v Chelsea (Eng)

AC Milan (Ita) v Arsenal (Eng)

Basel (Swi) v Bayern Munich (Ger)

Bayer Leverkusen (Ger) v Barcelona (Spa)

CSKA Moscow (Rus) v Real Madrid (Spa)

Zenit St Petersburg (Rus) v Benfica (Por)

Marseille (Fra) v Inter Milan (Ita)

Looks like the big teams should get through fairly easily. AC Milan v Arsenal will be close, depends if RVP is fit or not.

Unless they meet each other earlier, I predict Real - Barcelona final, they're too good for the rest of teams, I think. Milan, Bayern and Inter also will be there, much depends on transfer window activity.
Well, as Manchester United season ticket holder, I'm extremely disappointed at our CL exit, but this is what we deserved, we played poorly in most of games, we underestimated Basel and Benfica, who deserve credit for capitalising on our mistakes. Well done to them.
Europa League? At least we got a rather attractive draw against 4-time European champion, Ajax. I wouldn't be surprised if Sir Alex fielded a Carling Cup side for both legs, to be fair. If I'm honest, I expect City to go further than United in Europa League, they have wider squad and seem more determined to add this trophy to their collection.

^ How about no?

1-3 in "El Clásico".

Puyol eats lesser defenders for breakfast.

That doesn't say anything, though. We will have to wait and see. Still, I want Barcelona to win, and I have faith in them.

My predictions for today's games:

Lyon will beat Apoel at least 2-1
Barcelona will tie 1-1 to Bayern Leverkusen, although I'd love to see Barca lose :dopey:

Not CL related but rather 'peewee cup', or Europa League but:
Olympiakos beat Ruben Kazen 1-0, and I thought it'd be RK winning 1-0
Braga faces Besiktas, should be a good match but I'm pulling for Braga even though Besiktas has just as many Portuguese players and the once rated better than Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma. I'll say Braga 2-1 Besiktas

Tomorrow for CL:
Benfica will win at least 1-0 to Zenit. It's apparently freezing in Russia right now and FIFA/UEFA are going to see if the match will still go on due to the cold. I think Zenit has no chance. Russian league has been over, Zenit isn't in form due to the break and Zenit lost their attacking star Danny due to injury.
AC Milan and Arsenal is a toss up. I'm going to say tie for now but overall winner to go through will be Milan.

Next week:
Real Madrid will slaughter CSKA Moskow
Against all odds and continued drama, Chelsea will surprise everyone and beat Napoli

:sly:

Well.. Barca won 3-1. Will be tough for Bayer Lev to go to Camp Nou and win scoring 4 goals. I'll call it now, Barca off to the next round

0-2 and Leverkusen goes to the next round.

Good point, but I'm looking at Barca to score at home at least once.

Even when Inter beat them in the semi-final a couple of years back, Barca still won at home. This tie is all but done and dusted, Barcelona are pretty impregnable at home in Europe.

I DVRed both matches today so looking forward to watching both.

Read that Benfica lost 3-2 in Russia and a few aggressive tackles seeing Rodrigo injured. I really though Benfica would coast past Zenit seeing Danny is hurt long term and Zenit not being in form due to Russian league being over.

And wow... 4-0 slaughter. Did not see that coming!! Henry, come back home to New Jersey my friend :sly:

Arsenal were shambolic at the back tonight, bossed by the Milan forwards. Ramsey's distribution was poor, cross field passes continually wide if the mark. Ibrahimovic was excellent, Van Persie never saw enough of the ball ... I think it's safe to say that Barcelona and AC Milan are through to the next round. Henry goes back now, not bad for a 2 month loan. Why Wenger refuses to play Oxlade-Chmaberlein from the start is beyond belief. Good game, Arsenal were as poor as Milan were awesome.

0-2 and Leverkusen goes to the next round.

Doesn't the UCL use the away goal rule? Cause if they do then Leverkusen needs to win 3-1 if it's only by 2 goals and even that would only force extra time. Has to be 3-0 for them to go through or 4-1 if Barca scores....

Disgraceful from Arsenal. Not only did their defence/midfield collapse, they showed no hustle for much of the game. A goal could have made a world of difference going back to the Emirates.

Not only are they now out of this year's Champions League, I really can't see them getting into it next year. Their season rests on the FA cup, and I hardly think a first trophy in 7 years will be much consolation if they aren't in the top 4 at the end of the season. Bad times for Arsenal.

It will be a major shock if Arsenal comes through. Milan as an Italian side in no way is going to receive 4 goals. I believe it will score at least one goal as well at the Emirates so the chances for Arsenal wane completely.

But the match could as well be 2-2 yesterday. The header of Eto'o was very lucky and the penalty given to Milan was a stupid mistake.

On the other hand, Abbiati made an impressive save of a sure goal, and later on Van Persie again made a weak shot from a close distance because he only hit it with the very end of his shoe. If he had shot with the ball of his foot it would be a goal as he is leathal from inside the box.
