Chelsea could get a sneaky 1-0 here.

Clean sheet would be brilliant for them.

Kiss of death much? Sanchez just went very close.

TM, I need to Cech my sense of humour to understand your puns. You're Xavin' me on, surely?

ZOMG Sanchez down, hope he's OK

3 good Chelsea chances here and an excellent chance for Sanchez. Both defences look vulnerable.

Drogba was just annoying in that first half. The only thing he has been doing is diving.

Also... Dat Ramires assist!

I really wasn't expecting this. But Chelsea is really holding their own. And now they're up going into the break. Chelsea may have a chance at home.

Good goal, great assist... Chelsea maybe a touch fortunate to be 1-0 up, but Barcelona aren't looking deadly - yet.

Well, I didn't expect that at the start of tonights game. Well played Chelsea, excellent defence, maybe they can do it after all.

Totally called it.

Excellent defensive display from Chelsea. A truly magnificant effort to neuter a team like Barcelona. But that post and blaze over... phew, it was close!

I hope you had a tenner on that...

Great result for Chelsea, but they definitely dodged a bullet at the death there!!

Next Tuesday will be a cracker of a game... 👍

Only one way to sum up this game.
Can you spot Didier Drogba?

Pedro almost had it in the last minute of the game, and Busquets missed the goal by a few meters () after the rebound.

Well, guess Barcelona will have to "tirarle la historia encima a" (throw its history towards) Chelsea at the Camp Nou.

So there is still a chance for a German - English final! Who would have thought that!

I did not. No bookies in Nowheresville, Deutschland.

I'll call it now. 2-1 Barca, Chelsea through on away goals.

Shame, would have got decent odds against thats. Barcelona will win at the Nou Camp, but I'll suspect they'll still pull through. Just the one shot on target for Chelsea tonight, but it was enough.

I don't think that it is going to happen that easy for Barcelona. You have just played a team that ended your unbeaten streak in the Knockout rounds, and what are you going to do? You are going to play physical. I can see it in the Barca manager's eyes in the 27th minute. I would predict more yellows than goals when they play next week depending on the referee's attitude.

I watched the Barca-Chelsea game just now after coming home from work.

I am absolutely disgusted.
Can any Chelsea fan actually be proud of how their team played today? To go out in a home game and actively try to not possess the ball? And on top of that, to have your striker on the ground more than on his feet, acting like a gunshot victim whenever anyone came near him? I mean, I know that Barca have their share of divers, but come on. Drogba received treatment like 5 times just in the first half. Disgraceful.
I would rather my team lose then play like that and win. Honestly.

Don't worry mate. Messi and crew will do 'em next week, no problem.

He probably suffered a concussion because he clashed heads with a Barca player that started the mess and the Chelsea manager wouldn't take him out of the game. What I was more disgusted with was the Chelsea defense in the first half. They let Barca in way too many times to the inner box and allowed too many open shots at goal. They cleaned it up at half time/stoppage time, but that was poor, poor defending on the part of Chelsea.

They were never going to outplay Barcelona. It was never going to be pretty. As a Chelsea fan I'm very proud if how they played and ultimately won. Had they played open attacking football they would've been annihilated.

I do agree about Drogba though. It happens every champions league game and it is embarrassing to watch.

From what I've seen this season it seems Drogba really turns on the diving and feigning injury when he faces another team who are doing it, it's like if they are going to do it then so am I. This game and the second leg against Napoli are the ones where he was really bad, other than those two games he's probably done it less this season than he has in any other.

I think that Drogba was genuinely injured for a bit of the match because he went down holding his calf a few times and divers usually grab there head when they go down. He probably didn't warm up sufficiently. As I can see, you are from the US so you probably don't know how cold it was last night here. I can tell you it got down below freezing point.

If Barcelona was Real Madrid, sure. But Barcelona is Barcelona, and Pep Guardiola would never think of taking the game to physical extremes in order to win.

Barcelona will play the way they always play. Keep control of the ball, move it around, search for spaces, and do their best to score when they find them.

By the way, most games usually end with more yellow cards than goals. :P My prediction is that Chelsea will have more yellow cards than Barcelona in the next match. Barcelona will do everything they can to break through Chelsea's defence, and Chelsea in turn will do anything (even if it means resorting strong tackles) to protect their goal.

"To have black palate". That's what we call it here. Winning like the superior team, the team that had the opposition against the ropes, instead of winning like cowards who care more about defending than attacking. "Ganar, gustar, golear": "To win, to please, to score (a lot)", River Plate's famous Triple G's, and now Barcelona's. :D

As you say, it is basically the only way to defeat Barcelona. Which is why I like Barcelona so much: the only way to defeat Barcelona is by playing anti-football. A game of waiting, defending, and making the most out of counter attacks. The exact opposite of Barcelona.
