Chelsea have a good win under their belts and look set to go through. All APOEL care about now as Mazda remarked earlier is the money from playing at the Bernabeau, as 3-0 away to Madrid is hard for anyone. Looking forward to Milan-Barca tomorrow, that should be good watching.

Yes should be a great game tomorrow, on ITV I hope/think. Hoping for plenty of goals and no diving, jk it's Barcelona.

Prediction : 2-2

Can never forget Busquets playing peekaboo in El Classico after apparently being 'hit in the face'. Aside from that, interesting to see if Milan can contain Barca for two legs. Or if they get massacred instead. We shall see. Almost forgot Marseille are playing tomorrow too, Munich strong favourites for that one.

EDIT: Is definitely on ITV. I saw enough adverts for it during the FA Cup game earlier.

I'm not hatin, but I'm hatin... lol

A little interesting fact (as I'm a Porto fan, arch rivals of SL Benfica but still would rather have seen SLB win today)
18 players that played today in both CL matches speak Portuguese.
10 are actually Portuguese players. NONE played for SL Benfica, the 'Team of Portugal', aka Portugal's biggest club...

tsk tsk tsk....

Good found a football thread on here, shame tough that it's a little hidden away and it's catagorized under "soccer", guess cause it's a yankee site no ;)

It's always a long wait before i want to see a CL game of Barcelona as their group games are mostly won with another boring 4-0...

But tonight i hope the boys in San Siro can make it difficult for them. Even tough Ibrahimovic is a ****head he can put 2 of those in the Barca bag for me!

Hate that too, it's like a national sport itself here in Spain and sadly the refs mostly fall for it. If referee Dog would be on the pitch it would be straight yellow card for divers each time.

Prediction: 3-1 for Milan

Barca and Milan have had a few chances each already. Barca, as always, in possession.

End of the match, Milan 0 - Barcelona 0. Regardless of the result, a pretty boring match.

Well, having watched that game, it wasn't a bad 0-0, but Milan were the better team, or at least posed more attacking threat. Ambrosini was immense in defense, as a unit Milan were solid. Fancy Barca at home though. Bayern predictable beat Marseille, not quite the same calibre.

Started brightly but then faded. I suppose Barcelona can be happy with that result, although a score draw for Milan is not too improbable.

Bayern Munich win 2-0 away so they're pretty much guaranteed a place in the semis now.

I didn't like the way Milan's chances came from solely counterattacking, but that's the way they play. Barcelona was always in control when it came to creating chances, but they lacked accuracy, plus Milan was defending with 9 men most of the time, so it really isn't Barca's fault that they couldn't score. Add that to the fact most of Barcelona's men played in Milan's half, and it's no surprise Milan's counterattacks looked deadly.

Anyways, here's hoping Barcelona will win at Camp Nou.

Barcelona won 3-1 to Milan yesterday and to be honest... I think that ref bias was there again. The 1st PK was deserved. The 2nd however... very questionable. Nesta was pulling a bit on Busquets jersey but the play wasn't live and Puyol immediately fouled Nesta right after. End result? Yellow card and PK given. Ibrahimovic was fouled in a similar manner in the box and nothing was called, prior to this incident.. Makes you wonder ;)

Meanwhile Marseille knocked out, and Bayern Munich are through.
Today is Chelsea x Benfica and Real Madrid should end Apoel's Cinderella run. Would love to see Benfica come back 1-0agg and knock out Chelsea.

I doubt it, well I hope not. :scared:

Somewhat against the run of play, Chelsea score with a Lampard penalty. And to add to the Barcelona discussion, they only ever have a plan A. And the pressure on the referee is probably equal to what some feel at Man United or other big teams. Hence the interesting decision making that ensues.

Very sad, being the best team of the world and still wanting to fall on the floor like a bunch of crybabies to fool the referee.

They have the fame for doing it but the refs still fall for it, and they do it so skillfully that only in the replays you can see it was full blown comedia del arte...

Seeing that stuff over the last years made me anti-Barca.

I watched both penalties, and from what I can see, the first one was legit (there was some discussion in another forum I go to as to whether Messi was offside or not, personally I don't think he commited an offside offence), and the second one is leaving me doubting, but I believe it's legitimate too. Again, there was some arguing as to whether it should have been called or not, given that those kind of penalties rarely get called out here in Argentina, but if it's in the rules, then it's clearly not against them. To be honest, I'd rather be a fan of "Farza" instead of Real Madrid, who's behavior is nothing like you would expect from a team related to royalty.

Anyways, the better team got through.

:nervous: 2 - 1 and a Benfica goal will send them through. Really hanging on now. Torres has been taken off though. 👍

Well Torres looks better every game. So many yellow cards this match, it's crazy! Benfica doing well with 10 men, it's tense. Meanwhile, Real are steamrolling APOEL, that results a given.

EDIT: Merieles what a goal on the break. Superb finish!

Merieless !!!!!

Torres has improved I'l admit but he has missed so many times tonight again. Final whistle :).

My predictions:

QUARTER FINAL DRAW

Apoel v Real Madrid CF
Marseille v Bayern Munich
SL Benfica v Chelsea FC
AC Milan v FC Barcelona

So far so good. Now Real has to beat Bayern and Barcelona must humilliate Chelsea. :D

Barcelona will undoubtedly beat Chelsea. Humiliate...? Probably, but who don't they humiliate when they play in Europe, the AC Milan game the other night was mind blowing dominance. Digressing however; I don't want a an el clasico final, they're horrible on the eye and when it's all to play for in the CL final it just might be too much to bare. Heres hoping Bayern can get past Madrid for a Bayern v Barca final.

It would be a dream if Bayern can beat Real Madrid. Bayern has the team. Thinking they have a chance of beating them isn't entirely insane.

Are we all agreed that Barca will do Chelsea?

Yes, if they can't beat them with skill Alves, Busquets and co will just cheat to win. The only team that has a hope of beating Barca is Bayern.

Good result for Bayern, Real Madrid still to beat them in Munich!

I think Bayern deserved the win, but it could be tight in Spain, and with the away goal, Madrid will have a chance... but Bayern looked pretty good this evening, and I wouldn't bet against them reaching the final, which just so happens to be at their home ground...

Gomez is the same kinda striker as Lineker was, lethal inside the 18 yard box. Bayern might have edged it tonight, but I still fancy Madrid to run out winners at the Bernabeau. Immensely looking forward to the Chelsea-Barcelona game tomorrow, though not the ITV commentary, which provided us with such insights as "Walker, doesn't live up to his name, he's running all the time, I've never seen him walk". Like all the other footballers who do live up to their names. Comedy gold there.

Me too, haven't been this excited about football for months. Still think Chelsea have a chance, especially at home.
