Ugly But Appealing Vehicles

The front spindles and ball joints were notorious for dangerous failure. The v6 was crap, the bodies rusted instantly, the interior was junk, yet I still have more fond memories and went more places off road in that Bronco II than any vehicle I've ever owned. Not sure how to rule that verdict. ...............Well, it did legitimately save my life, so I guess I'll rule my Bronco II: 👍 lol

The issues I had were over a long time though. The engines broke down a lot but that was about the worst of it. The wheel/steering was the last straw.

Yeah mine was a mid to late 80d model and had a bit of fender rot in 2000 but that was about it. I don't remember the interior being to bad. The maroon red inside like my truck went well with the black but ultimately we got rid of it because 5 people wouldn't fit in it.

So, Bronco II is just like Mustang II?

The Mustang II is infinitely better than the Bronco II. Yet both sold ridiculously well. I still see Bronco II's on the road though. Mustang II's were and are very reliable especially with the 302.

I consider the Bronco II to be the stepping stone to the Explorer. I owned a '78 full size Bronco and it's definitely a better truck than the Bronco II was. The Mustang II was all around a better vehicle than the Bronco II, but because of what it was (an emissions forced econobox) Ford knew they couldn't call it a Mustang and get away with it.

It basically was the bridge to the Explorer especially if you compare first gen Explorers to late model Bronco IIs. They look identical. Plus the explorer gained the 302 V8.

Rust? what is that? :P Seriously I have seen tons of them around here and no rust issues. That is more dependent on where you live than the vehicle it self.

The first generation of the Ford EXP/Mercury LN7.

Quite frankly, I think it is better to look at than a mid-1980's Mustang.

Firebirds have always been one of the better looking cars in existence. However, I much rather prefer the early '80s. Knight Rider anyone?

I do like the 80s ones. I prefer the 70s ones though. All generations are nice however.

Almost all new BMW's. And all BMW's from the 90's and older.

Lamborghini Urracco. I find it hideous, but it's still a Lambo.

Porsche Panamera. It's disgusting, but the Turbo S is easily the best-performing sedan there is.

996.1 Porsche 911

AMC Pacer. Seems to be ugly and pretty at the same time.

The modern Firebird is odd in that there is no badge between the grilles, as on other Pontiacs. If the grilles weren't as big, I'd say it is good-looking.

I don't see how so many people find the Panamera so disgusting. I think it looks absolutely fine, inside and out.
But, what's better than the Panamera in my opinion, is the CTS-V Wagon.

Not sure why people don't like the look of that either. Seems like if anything turns into a 'wagon' it is exiled from garages.

Yes that seems to be true. I think many people feel that a sporty wagon is like a sporty minivan, at the end of the day most people simply don't see the point or find it uncool. In my case, the Panamera and that Cadillac look like disproportionate retarded cousins of a better looking vehicle. Sometimes certain designs can hold up through a whole fleet of models, and other times the designs just can't be used on more than one model. For instance, the Aston Martin Rapide and the Audi RS6 Avant are perfect examples of a design that works across multiple model ranges, whereas, for me, the Panamera and the Cadillac don't.

I don't like the look of the Panamera either since I think it looks a bit like a squashed Cayenne, and that wasn't exactly beautiful either.

I find the last Firebirds kinda fugly, any before that though are really nice cars. Some of the late model Ram Airs are pretty fast though admittedly.

Slashfan, I know your personal experience of the Cologne V6 sucks but they put out thousands of them, I still don't think you would be so quick to pounce on it had it come out of Detroit. Keep an open mind dude :)

I find this car very appealing but I like the looks of it. Does anyone doesn't like the looks of the Firebird?

I love the way the Firebird looks epically the '98+ 4th gen.

As ugly as it is, I like the Dodge Shadow. It just seams like a nice little car. :)

Turbo Shadows are cool but they are crappy cars to be honest.

I don't care for the Dodge Neon in general and I always thought that they looked boring, but I do have a soft spot for the R/T model, especially with the paint schemes given.

Always thought it was quite overstyled, but that was Pontiac's style for about 17 of their last 20 years.

That was actually one of the lesser aggressive versions of what came out after that.

The top one was the 93 to 97 Model and the bottom was a 98 to 02 Trans Am with the WS6 option package which gives the more aggressive hood and spoiler.

RDF97's picture is a Firehawk which is a aftermarket car sold via Pontiac dealers that has the WS6 rear spoiler with a less aggressive Firehawk hood.

This is what the more sedate V6 and V8 Forumla Firebirds look like from '98 to '02.

Awaits hate from some members about being a know it all.

Yeah, I know I was just saying how aggressive it got over the years. Definitely not a bad thing, I prefer the later WS6 models.

Same here but a 98+ Formula would not be bad. GM got those Firebirds right. IMHO the Firebird has ALWAYS looked better than the Camaro. Shame Firebirds will never come back :(

I agree I always prefer the Firebird over the Camaro....first gens I like them even.
