Smokey and the Bandit 3 literally killed that model of Firebird.
I completely forgot that a 3rd gen was in the 3rd Bandit movie.

The "would you rather thread" plus your post reminds me of this little gem:As ugly as it is, I like the Dodge Shadow. It just seams like a nice little car.
That is epic.
Well the film was horrible so it makes sense if people forget that it was the so called "star car".I completely forgot that a 3rd gen was in the 3rd Bandit movie.
Yes that seems to be true. I think many people feel that a sporty wagon is like a sporty minivan, at the end of the day most people simply don't see the point or find it uncool. In my case, the Panamera and that Cadillac look like disproportionate retarded cousins of a better looking vehicle. Sometimes certain designs can hold up through a whole fleet of models, and other times the designs just can't be used on more than one model. For instance, the Aston Martin Rapide and the Audi RS6 Avant are perfect examples of a design that works across multiple model ranges, whereas, for me, the Panamera and the Cadillac don't.
Except they are Windsor engines, most of them are Cleveland'sIS there no ford or ford thing that you don't know haha!
Btw those 302'S and 351's are still very very popular in Australia
Wow I have never heard of that!
So it's just a permanent 4WD?
I actually like the look of those.Honda Ridgeline, My wife wouldn't even sit in one at the dealer..."its too ugly and the speedometer trim and dash is Godawful ugly too !" she said.
A couple years later while were looking for a second CRV we had a chance to get a very good deal on a used Ridgeline instead. We bought it and she quickly fell in love with it, Its a very versatile and comfortable vehicle, It also has a locking rear diff and will go just about anywhere we need it to go, the only real drawbacks are limited ground clearance and no low range but we don't do rock crawling.
As ugly as and hated by many as it is we will probably buy a new one next year. We traded our Ridgeline in for a new Accord 3 years ago and we really miss it.
Agreed 👍I actually like the look of those.
Its a 1973 Ford Explorer SUV concept. Here's another 2 pics.O.O What is that??? I want one. Now.

No, not permanent, this quote explains it thoroughly and better than I can myself. v
"VTM-4
The drive system always launches the vehicle in 4 wheel drive mode. The system reduces torque on the rear wheels to zero when cruising to optimize fuel economy. The system is always looking for wheel slippage between the front and rear wheels. If wheel slippage occurs, torque will be increased to the rear wheels. The VTM-4 controller function is a separate system from the VSA system.
When driving off-road or in deep snow where you may need some wheel slippage, it is advisable to deactivate the VSA system to avoid unintended intervention. However, this deactivates the limited slip mode that is provided for the front axle. In most cases, it is best to let the system power through and help with traction issues by keeping your foot into the throttle and maintaining forward momentum. If you are traversing a steep hill with limited friction (mu), it may be advisable to shut the VSA system off before starting to climb the hill. Otherwise, it is best to keep it engaged (except for deep snow, sand or mud).
VTM-4 Lock
As already described, the VTM-4 lock button can be activated in first, second or reverse gear positions at speeds less than 18 mph. the VTM-4 system utilizes two cutch packs – one for each wheel. When max power is applied to both LH and RH coils, make no mistake, the system is locked. Both rear wheels can not be rotated at different speeds. Do not run the system in lock mode when on pavement. If you tried to turn a corner with the lock button engaged, you can feel the system bind, just like an old 4WD system that is locked front to rear. It is true it is not a mechanical lock when it is locked. It is a clutch pack that will not slip when max current is applied (up to the torque limits of the system)."
