There is a super nasty looking bug which has just started affecting replays since today's 1.24 update. There is this horrible vignette-like effect that increases as the camera pans. The faster it pans & moves, the more it grows. It disappears when it slows & stops though. I checked YouTube for lots of videos before today's update, & the bug is not present. It makes viewing replays a rather unpleasant experience for me now.

:ill: :ouch: :yuck:

The bug seems to be similar to the effect used when racing to indicate other cars are close by, but it seems to be triggered by panning the camera during a replay. Watch the bottom corners of the screen, & notice the artifact increase & decrease as the camera pans. It seems to be more prominent on some tracks than on others.

that's video compression?

It's obviously not caused by video compression as it happens in-game!

Is not a bug

Back up that statement with some evidence please.

For a point of reference, here's what it looked like before the update (go to 10 seconds in). There is some very slight artifact present, in the form of a vertical shadow that creeps into the picture very slightly from the edges, but nowhere near the amount in my video above, & certainly not like a vignette.

The variable replay has changed, is not a bug

Making yet another statement without any evidence, or understanding of what I'm saying is not very helpful. You have misunderstood what I have said. Please take responsibility for understanding something before replying. It happens in both variable replay & standard replay. Do you even know what a vignette is?

That'll be the motion blur I'd assume rather than a bug. Bleeding the black in from the edges as there is no colour off screen. GT 5 and 6 were the same and it's always been there in GTS. Most likely the difference between the two videos is the camera as the older clip looks like it's on standard while the latest clip is on variable. Why it's such a big difference may be because of the amount of blur applied to each.
Oddly I recorded a clip at Suzuka East earlier, after the update, and it's nowhere near as noticable.

Sorry :(

Yes, I noticed similar but less dramatic artifacts in GT5. But no, it hasn't always been there to this degree in GTS. I posted video before & after the update & anyone can see there is a massive difference. It also has nothing whatsoever to do with Variable replay, like I have already said, it happens in Standard replay too. It might be an artifact of the motion blur (which I would consider a bug in & of itself), & that would explain why it happens when the camera is panning. It seems to happen more on some tracks & less on others. It might even be affected by different times of day, haven't really tested that yet. Anyway, I find it ugly & extremely off putting.
