I was just thinking how useful PMs are and how much people liked to stay on topic nowadays.

I would definatley be up for a Nurburgring outing. Especially if it was going by Roo's date of 2008, i will be driving by then so that would be perfect.

Not necessarily. You'll need to find some insurance that'll cover European driving and driving on the 'ring, and that won't come cheap.

Under no circumstances do this.

The 'Ring is just a public toll road and so is technically included in any European driving insurance cover - unless specifically excluded. Mention that you're going to the 'Ring and they'll bump your premium up, but seeing as it's just an ordinary road there is absolutely nothing they can do regarding refusing you cover if you don't tell them about it and it's not explicitly excluded from your cover.

I'm wondering; who started these UKGTP's???? Whose idea was it in the first place, etc....

That's the name of the person who organised the 1st, 2nd and 3rd UKGTPs.

I completely forgot about european cover, is that something you'd have to take out separately or is it normaly included with your policy?

Depends on the insurer - normally thought it's something you'd have to add.

right, so I more or less spoke with the wife about going to the next GTP LAN Thingie. Ben suggested I bring her along, but frankly, she can barely play cards, much less PS2. And she's not like Suzie (Bite Me), so it's not like she'll be texting me and stalking me over the 'net anyway.

So this is how it is: Either I go to the Spanish GP in Barcelona with her, or I go to the UKGTPLAN thing...

I'm betting more on the UK thing, since it may be cheaper and more alcohol is involved, and that's always important. But I still have a few months to think about it.

:( :( Someone just burst my UKGTP stress-ball... there's orange goo everywhere

oh dear chris..
you dont know your own strength!

i do have a blue one left, but its full of pink goo. any good? maybe i'll just save it for the next lan seeing as you all liked my prizes so much?!

its not easy buying for a bunch of men who vary in age but are all going on 8+ ya know?! traffic sign rubbers has been done, replica cars have been done again and again...
and on that note and that of videos, i have a cracking vid of vexd blowing up a balloon from behind, but you have to look twice at what hes doing. if only i knew how to get that on here?? maybe you could pm and explain daan?!

but you all messed around with the balloons and the frisbee and the gravity tests and the magic tricks etc etc! scof away!!

ya know, you could put a girl off arranging another lan...!!
maybe if vexd helped, things wouldnt have been so bad?! you all soon scoffed the pizza too!

i actually enjoyed not racing (altho i didnt enjoy feeling ill!). you all have such different driving styles, that its good to sit back and watch the technique!

thanks for a great lan chaps and for your thank you prezzies. i've not yet touched the vodka, but i cant wait!

p.s. i like what your doing famine, dont stop will ya?!

Ill have you know i've impressed many a person with my balloon anti-gravity doohicky. Ive got to keep it hidden so that its not stolen! As for prizes, as long as they are aimed at 1 to 5 year olds we will always be happy. :D

Is there any particular reason why the race cars aren't used very often at the UKGTP meets? I was thinking of either a Le Mans winners pick'n'mix - pick 6 from the following:

Jaguar XJR-9 (1988)
Sauber Mercedes C9 (1989)
Mazda 787B (1991)
Peugeot 905 (1992)
BMW V12 LMR (1999)
Audi R8 (2001)
Bentley Speed 8 (2003)

...or prehaps a drop-down series - everyone starts in, say, the Audi R8, and the last car is a 1969 Ford GT40 or 2001 BMW M3 GTR Race Car... any reasons why not? There'd be a fast turnover of races and the cars are quite a handful (that's to say, I found them a handful) with no driving aids.

Had a few thoughts for the Clio Endurance too - Trial Mountain, SS Route 5 or prehaps Midfield. I'm lap time testing at the moment to see how long 50 laps would take.

They're certainly in the pipeline - but they can be intensely frustrating cars without TCS. Like the Speed 12. I love it, but they aren't everyone's cuppa.

With slightly shrunked races, there's a chance for even more variety and I'm pretty certain that some top-end race cars will be appearing in UKGTP7...

I'm keeping the next Clio Enduro track under wraps - but it's another shortish track with no existing Enduro.

Any update on, when the next one will be Famine.

I know exactly when it'll be, yes.
