A thought just occurred to me, UKGTP9 falls on the same weekend as the Monaco F1 GP.
Perhaps the opportunity to watch the race on a big screen would help to attract attendees.
An endurance race at the same track, and at the same time would also be interesting...

Move me up the list from "Maybe" to "Quite Likely" regardless of the above.

& @ Famine, I have a "School Run" handicap and a "Green" pick'n'mix looking very promising as well as a few other ideas for events in the pipeline.

Hey! I'm not making a new list, it's Almost Certain or nothing! ;)

Right chaps! Had a conversation with David (the owner of the Rutland) and he's pushing for a deposit for the room that is non returnable. We only get the cheap price for the room on the understanding that ten people will be staying at the hotel. As i count it at the moment theres only seven on the definate list that will be staying at the hotel.

Is there anyone new at all that can be added as definates??

We've got 4 on the Almost Certain list. As I understand from posts, Diego is just waiting for his passport that is his only blockage [/ooer] I think Dan was waiting for nearer the time, not too sure. PMs to those on the AC list? (It could be called the Cobra list!)

If my finances were good at the moment, I'd really like to do this with you guys (if you wouldn't mind).

I'll try to go on the next one if my bank account improves until then (again, if you guys don't mind). 👍

I have passe my test!

I can now drive to Newark, bringing my equipment with me. Including my racing cockpit. What day is everyone arriving? friday, what nights are the hotel booked for again.

alright, I need to be put in the list of "Definitely not attending, unless God himself reaches down from the heavens and finds me a job that pays good and will be willing to give me 10 days off just as I've started"

I got laid off work on Friday. :indiff:

👎:guilty: Sorry to hear that, Diego...

Definitely not cool.

How is the job market in Spain? Good I hope.

Their economy is rising at a good pace, and the unemployment (sp?) rate has been decreasing well from where it was (really, really bad) 15 or 20 years ago, and doing especially well, from what I believe, during the last 10 years.
In fact, many Portuguese are seeking work in Spain these days.

But since he's in the Canary Islands, it may not be the same as the mainland.

It looks like as of 10-26-2005 the unemployment rate in the Canary Islands was 13.1% (point of reference, in the US it's currently 4.8%)

Not to sidetrack this thread any more than I already have, but I found this amusing.
Principal exported products:
- Fuel
- Vegetables
- Live plants and flowers
- Various foodstuffs
- Fish, crustaceans and molluscs
- Tobacco and tobacco substitutes
- Paper and cardboard
- Processed cereals and cakes

Principal imported products:
- Fuel
- Vehicles
- Tobacco and tobacco substitutes
- Fish and crustaceans
- Meat and edible offal
- Machinery, equipment and electrical materials
- Milk and dairy products
- Paper and cardboard
- Salt, sulphur, soil and stone, plaster, lime and cement
- Soft drinks, alcoholic beverages and vinegar
You could save yourself a lot of money just keeping your crustaceans and smokes to yourselves.

Yes, I know that's not how it works, so don't bother lecturing me. Just enjoy the irony. Or is it coincidence...

Damn it. I hope you find work soon Diego. Having only brought a house last year I'm sure getting back into work is a priority.

@ steve. I believe the rooms were booked for Saturday and Sunday night.

well, the problem here is that the real estate is the 2nd most important economic factor (1st is tourism) and since space is kinda limited, the market is frozen. Tourism is also pretty low lately and there's an economic slump in the works.

The problem is not the slump, but the fear of the slump. Because once the crises has hit, companies look to advertising/promotion to raise their sales, but since nothing has happened yet, they're all pretty much afraid of what may happen.

The agency where I was preferred to keep the n00b they can pay 900€/month who has no experience and who does exactly what he's told than the designer who's worked in seven ad agencies around the world, and who has a Cannes shortlist as well as many other international awards in his resume, but who will ultimately not work for 900€... first I couldn't get a job because I didn't have experience, now I have too much :indiff:

Something will work out, eventually. I can get by freelancing, but I need a proper job so I can show it to the mortgage people.

Hope you get it soon. Sounds like a tricky situation, but your qualities will prevail on a job quest, I'm sure.

Look at the bright side: we'll probably attend the next one together! 👍

Oh yeah, almost forgot... Stevisiov & Famine (that I know of), NO CoD4 for you guys while you're there, GT only.
Consider yourselves warned. And I'll want pics. Loads of them.

Is there a meet-up on the Friday night like at Banbury or is it a Saturday morning gather upper like last time at Newark?

I just had a thought.

What would happen if a member of this forum were to get in on the UKGTP fun, then get banned after agreeing to attending and then still attends despite being a banned member? I'm particularly interested in what an attending staff member would get to do. :P

We're entitled, by law, to strip them naked, tie them to a chair and whip them with urine-soaked, knotted towels.

There was a certain re-registered banned member at the SF meet.

Famine's right by the way.

that's one of the reasons people keep attending year after year... to see if TVRfan will attend.

For Famine.

Edit: Wait, I didn't think this through...

Edit Edit: Famine, check your hotmail account.

For everyone else, it was the results of a handicap I've been testing. Of course, posting it here would ruin the suprise if it was actually used. So I removed it again. So :P In fact, just disregard this post entirely.

I'm hoping my new sig will tempt people over here. Maybe we can kidnap Scarlett Johansson and have her as a special guest?

So, when exactly will you guys meet up?

And will there be a possibility to see you guys online?
