Just need to book of a day from work then I can fully confirm myself as an attendie...

So any more definates to add to the list? Numbers are looking a little thin on the ground at the moment. We need 10 people at least to make this lan financially viable and if we cancel we might not be able to get such a good deal again.

Fingers crossed for more people to poke there heads in and say yay!

Did you PM Danny (Danachronism)? - he's been threatening to come for ages now, but has always used the excuse that he couldn't drive/had no car. He doesn't have that excuse now.

I did wonder...

Former attendees (as in prior to the Ocho) off the top of my head: Touring Mars (:D), -Diego-, Smallhorses, G.T, Mr. P, Kelly, Venom77, Wastegate (d'oh), RogsR34UK, donbenni, MildAshers, Race Idiot, TheCracker.

Former expressed-an-interest-but-didn't-comeees: Scaff, Dave_George, DarkElite, Jondot, TVR&FerrariFan, Dave A.

If they've not been PMed, let me know and I'll use my Premium Power (okay, Mod Abilities) to PM them. There's also some guys on GTbN I can ask.

Its kind of, definatley maybe, still looking for work now im back in Brighton but its coming along nicely. So I should possibly have a definate answer within a month perhaps.

I also have a friend who is interested in coming along to watch and maybe participate.

TVR&FerrariFAN(AKA i will say im coming to the lan but i wont actually come)

You mean TVR&FerrariFan (aka I will say I might come to the LAN fourty-seven times, mentioning a very large and expensive plasma TV in each, then say I might not because there's a list all of the hundreds of things I might be doing instead which cost a lot of money and sound terribly impressive, and then not turn up anyway)?

I think you must be mistaken.

The TVR&FerrariFan Ben is talking about is a.k.a. I willn say I might however come to the LAN fourty, seven times, however. Mentioning a very. Large and expensive plasma TV, however in each, then say I. Might not because there's a list all of the hundreds of however things, I might be doing instead, however, which cost a lot of money and sound terribly, impressive, and then not. Turn up anyway

I see where you could've been confused, but it's just not the same person.

Also, didn't Swift at one moment mention he could be attending?

I'm a little surprised there's not been more interest. We had 24ish last time around, is Newark that bad? Or maybe Mark needs to get another special guest...

Of course the LAN is 4 months away so we shouldn't be counting our chickens Astons yet.

Newark is a bit of a trek for me, and as you say it is 4 months away yet.
Put me down as interested, but unable to commit until a LOT closer to the event.

Well, transportation isn't such a worry for me now (I can get the train if needs must), but it's probably too close to my AS exams to be very likely. Nonetheless, (as I haven't received the timetable for them yet), put me down as interested but unlikely.

I can give you a lift if it's closer.

I thought you couldn't fit anyone in the Mini... with you, TVR and his HDTV?

:)

The Ovlov will swallow all.

You do realise that I am a 3 hour drive to your west? In fact I am closer to Lands End than I am to the home of the Great Western Railway in Swindon!

That I do. But the offer is there if you want it :) Get up early and sleep from mine to Newark.

Besides, how long did it take for you to drive to Banbury?

:D

Its' a Mini driver thing - when a Volvo (usually one of the trucks or soft roaders) pulls up behind you and you look in your rear view mirror, all you can see is a huge grille with a single word in the middle: ovloV.

Although I do quite like Lolvo...

LOLvo, surely?

Nice one!

My best mate used to call my lil' Lancia a 'Lancia Ovulate'.

And I am bringing a guest star. Freddie Cougar! He's just as stylish as an Aston... maybe. :)

Is he finished?

You had a Lancia? Integrale? One of my Dads friends/work colleagues had one of those, ended up embedded in the side of a lorry on a country road, like his Evo IV....

The Mercury will be running for the Nono.

The Lancia is a Fulvia, and that's maybe getting started this year. (Maybe.)

No, when it came to four-wheel drive hot hatches, I owned the reliable one: the VW Golf Rallye G60SE. :)

LOL! i never thought id read G60 and Reliable in the same sentance. The chargers can be a nightmare if they are not rebuilt every 10k and at £700 a time its pretty expensive. Was the Rallye stock or did you tinker with it? Boost return pipe deletion (to stop the car dumping nice warm air back into the charger :ouch:) ported charger (usually done when you have it rebuilt) small pully, chip and exhaust and your pretty much looking at 200+ bhp and a heafty chunk of torque. Dont sound like much power but its enough to get you to 60 in just over 6 sec's and top 150 which was proven with the super rare G-Limited's.

Or is this where you tell me you had one of the 71 16v G-Limited's........

G400 OSS - aka 'Goose'.

Took the small pulley off when I had the Mr G-Lader Stage 1 gas-flow and balance. Reprogrammed. Supersprint straight through exhaust with decat (spat flames on the overrun and set off car-alarms in multistoreys.) Fat 16" rims with 205/45s Yokies. Lowered, lots of rear camber to stop it from driving like a mk2 Escort. Grooved discs, Mintex pads.

And yes, it was as fast as a fast thing being fast, from 1,500rpm up. The whole thing was amazing, easily kept up with my friend's 16V Integrale, and without the toytown trim, squeaks, rattles, rot, crap paint and blowing hoses. I used to drive it hard, too, I set fire to the brakes on more than one occasion. It was the shortest wheelbase Audi Quattro you could buy, and I loved it.

When I had the G-lader flowed, it used to 'beat' at 2,000rpm and sound exactly like a TVR V8. It was fabulous. For weeks I didn't drive fast, I just drove everywhere at 2,000rpm in the most appropriate gear. :)

And no, not a 16V G-limited, it was one of the 62 official UK Rallye Special Editions with the half-leather trim... and they all came with Synchro 4WD and the 02E Motorsport gearbox (which was beautifully slick.)

Holy f-words, I miss that car. Don't ask what happened to it. Let's just say I did a lot of swearing on that day.

Whoa!

Way to kill a thread!

Spec... and myself are currently doing some 'fun' car testing. Will report back shortly. Keeping things under my shirt so to speak, one funny race has to be chosen for a little something we have planned. All cars included are slow cars (shut up groaning), purely for the purpose that accidents will still prevent some of you hot rod racers from pulling away too quickly!

be back soon!
