My first contribution to this thread and maybe a stupid one but I have a question (like always)
Is it possible to have LAN session through a server. So let us say that someone has a server and others can log on to it and start racing?
A LAN is 'run' by Ethernet cables, the word 'local' means just that. We don't use a server at our LANs if that's what you mean? It's much more fun to meet up anyway.

Well, I now have my off-duty...there's good news and bad news.
I'm working until 2am on the Saturday morning (as I requested) so I can be there Saturday, albeit tired. I'm also off Sunday which means I can stay overnight Saturday and be there Sunday. However, my request to have the Monday off has been refused and i'm working all day. Which means i'll be leaving you all at some point on the Sunday.
And no, i'm not racing.

If there's anyone from this end of the country who needs a lift, then I'm offering one.
(Hopefully that'll help find a tenth person.)
It might be an idea to start compiling an equipment list too. I can bring:
1x Oldschool PS2 + Network Adapter
1x GT4
2x PS2 controllers
1x G25
2x 14in telly (can get a third if need be)
1x Memory card (Famine, would you like it posted to you again?)
1x 2 metre, 6 plug extension cable (possibly a second if I can find it)
1x Headphones
(Hopefully that'll help find a tenth person.)

I'm afraid Freddie will almost certainly be a no-show. I've decided to put a 5-speed gearbox in him, and I'm fairly sure it will take a while to do that properly, although I would like to be driving him around for my brithday. Can't miss summer when you've got a ~350hp musclecar.

just to get things straight....
we need ten people in hotel rooms (regardless of sharing) to get the room for £100. but in all honesty, knowing David (the landlord) as well as i do (he used to be my boss!!), i don't think this is set in stone. I'll pop in and see him sometime in the week to dot the i's etc...
Spec doesn't need a room as he now lives in Newark in his own place, as do i!!
I would offer some room space, but cos of the low numbers, it would be easier for me to cough up a couple of extra quid and get everyone into the "hotel!"

What kind of time would we be planning to start on the Saturday? I know set-up can take a while, that's dependant on LANs, which will probably be 2, 1 doesn't seem enough for all 9 racers (or is it 8?).
Also, will we be having people arriving on the Friday?
MildAshers is coming up with us, which will be the Saturday morning.

Maybe it would be prudent to point out that if you say you will be there, you should mean really it... Otherwise, if you say you are going and then fail to turn up, you will be hunted down, stripped, tarred, feathered, and tied to lamppost - in the East End of Glasgow

That's very kind of you to offer. I'm seriously tempted, and I'd love to come down. The only thing stopping me from saying yes right now is that my sister is about to have a baby (in the next two weeks) and I didn't want to make any plans for this period in time, just so I was around... however, I'd love to 'provisionally' accept the offer, and if everything goes OK for my sister, then I'll be able to come down and join you lot for some racing 👍
