I'd be first to agree that what TG did to that Twingo was a waste and not even particularly entertaining. But JC did give it quite the shining review and in Renault's eyes I would guess that the cost of losing one car is a small price to pay for the positive publicity it received in return.
I'd say the flight was most definitely digitally adapted. Can you imagine them being able to do that under H&S? No.
They drove a Jaguar off an aircraft carrier (-:
I find that whole thing about SUVs completely pointless. I'd rather buy a Mitsubishi Evo than a Range Rover.
The Twingo's "flight" into the sea didn't look real to me. I think some digital trickery was used for that part at least.

Probably because we're getting tired of seeing the same things over and over again. Yeah, Top Gear is funny because they destroy stuff and make jokes about it, but that was several seasons ago. For many seasons the same has been done over and over again, it's just not fun anymore. The X5-Q7-Range Rover was a decent review, so why couldn't he have done the same with the Twingo?
If they really can't be bothered with decent car reviews anymore they need to do more specials. The Vietnam special and the American road trip special were very good and I had a great time watching those. Especially the Vietnam special was some of Top Gear's finest.
I'm gonna go on a limb and say that was a pre-production prototype used as a press car, and if things in Europe are like in North America, it would have been crushed anyway, seeing how it's a prototype, which means it doesn't have a VIN number and therefore cannot be registered.
That is a very suspect looking Twingo there
Looks like a 206.
Why are so many people gettin ben t out of shape about a Twingo? Yeah it's a prety neat car but it's nothing special. It's not a colelctors item or a rare car or anything special in any way. It's no different, actually if anything it's worse than there constant destuction of Morris Marinas beacuse at least the Twino is in mass production at the moment.
Besides that, a bit of logical thought tells you that it's highly unlikely that it's a new production model that's been either bought by the BBC, bought by Clarkson or another member of the TopGear crew, or given to then to destroy by Renault. It's either a crash test car that's not been needed or it's a pre-production car like the usually give to journalists that would have been destroyed or parked in a lockup for years and probably destroyed after that anyway.
I do think that this episode is the weakest of the series so far, but seeing everyone up in arms about a destroyed Twingo just seems odd to me whe n they've destroyed plenty or other cars on the show and on Clarksons DVD's for little reason beyond entertainment.
Death to all FWD hatchbacks!
Might be worth noting that the sequence was filmed in October and the Twingo Jeremy was actually driving is still taxed.
Does anyone remember the episode when the Stig drove a Twingo around the track? It was the episode where they had to buy a rear wheel drive car, Clarkson had the Porsche, May had the Capri & Hammond had the 300ZX. The Twingo in that episode was red and had the number plate HY58.
So, previously, we were all thinking Mark T is some kind of Mr Memory Man, but it turns out all he is doing is watching it right now...Thats funny...that episode is on Dave at the moment. But I didn't pay attention to the plate on the Twingo.
Watch it again on Dave ja vu!
