Yeah but at least on Mays it was one of the front wheels that lost drive not rear. I suppose also that they could have disconnected the other front wheel before that descent to leave it rwd.

...or they could have repaired May's 4WD while the other two were modifying their cars.

Also, with Hammonds recurring suspension and drivetrain breakages being 'bodge' repaired on the road there was a real threat of something major letting go whilst descending the dune. I know I'd have rather walked.

The suzuki was the star of the journey!

One of the best episodes i can recall, just behind the american road trip which was epic. Those mountains roads made me and my dad scared behind the tv. that white suv was just horrific.

Meh, I think this episode slapped me in the face and made me realise I'm not bored of the script-feel or the lack of cars, I'm actually bored of the characters and style of Top Gear, because this was an episode where scripting is used very little (though editing is used a lot still ;) ) and obviously the car-theme is a large part of it. So I can only come to the conclusion that I've gotten sick of Top Gear overall rather than its other issues.

Ah well, it was alright but I wasn't laughing my head off particularly, it was just watchable.

Best episode of the season. Not better than Botswana though. Did james snap? He had that look in his eye while carrying around that machete.

I'm pretty sure he did. Your facing your phobia in the face and getting punted from the back while being only a few feet away from a HUUUGEE drop would totally make me 🤬 scared.

I have done the very same to a friend (minus machete) who bumped the rear of my death-trap Ford Escort when we were doing 60+mph back in England. He knew I wasn't a fan of recklessness on the road and when we got out the car he had a nervous smile on his face which then ended up on the receiving end of a bunch-of-fives.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! The scene with Clarkson about to fall off a cliff (or not) was buttock-clenching to say the least and I loved seeing May walking round in that kind of slightly maniacal way with the machete brandished. I laughed every time JC referred to him as The Nuge. The main show has become contrived in the extreme and this was a breath of fresh air up until the last 7 or 8 minutes which was a trite as usual.

More of the same please boys!

Well he did warn them, "if you hit me up the rear I'm going to chop you up with the machete!" I loved how he went for Jeremy, lunging into the car after the tap on the Suzuki.

During the whole show I was thinking "Top gear is too short"

I was really enjoying it and wished it was longer.

In the final episode of the series, Jeremy Clarkson makes a film about the BMW X6 and ends up conducting one of the most expensive road tests in Top Gear history. James May drives the new Vauxhall Insignia VXR, accompanied by Margaret Calvert, the designer of Britain's road signs; and Richard Hammond tests the 340,000 pound Lexus supercar on the Top Gear track.

The boys then try out the latest in electric personal transport in the studio, and the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is blues musician Seasick Steve.

Oh great.. I love the X6... I've got this feeling this ain't gonna be pretty. The LFA bit should be interesting though.

I am undecided about tonight's episode. I like parts of it, like the Seasick Steve interview and James May's bit was surprisingly amusing. Oh and Jezza vs Hammond in the studio was pretty good. The Lexus bit was quality though!
So... apparently I liked this episode from the above :P

The Lexus bit was good (as in, it was different), I liked seasick Steve too... the X6 bit was predictable though, "oh I don't like iDrive, it's not a Land Rover, it's too expensive... but anyway.. I'm off to Spain, Barbados, Hong Kong and Australia.. "

It does seem like they've been doing the same thing for so long they've forgotten how to say anything actually interesting about the cars...

Wasn't terribly exciting, but I liked the first half of the show. I hate to sound all doom and gloom about it all, its still worth watching, I'm too familiar with it all. My expectations are too high these days it seems, I keep expecting every episode to be like last weeks, which is asking a little much really.

Sometimes, much as I don't much like Clarkson, Top Gear is utterly brilliant - and it still can be... the Bolivia episode was brilliant, and some of the features are still fantastic...

The standard has been set so high now, that the features that are less than genius are quite disappointing.

I rather liked this episode. Apart from Hammond getting seriously on my nerves - again - it was rather amusing and the blokes still know how to feature cars. Clarkson's take on the X6 was very nicely done, and May was his old self, yet a bit more confident it seemed.

Couldn't quite understand what Hammond was on about, the LFA looked brilliant and just a shame they did the fast lap in the wet.

The news bit about Saab was hilarious - yet tragic in hindsight.

Quite a pleasant season ending, and I'm curious if they really get a new Reasonably Priced Car. I guess it might be a Dacia? ;)

Only just have seen both the Bolivia and season finale episode. Jeremy destroyed me with his botfly bedtime story, the way he ended it to scare Hammond was pure genius. Loved the episode, they need to do more of this. Too bad they got a hold of a worn out Landcruiser though, probably because they knew that if they'd gone for a Landcruiser in decent condition, they would never be able to pick on it :sly:

Loved that LF-A as well. The thing looks fantastic in white, and along with the Zonda F roadster and the Gallardo LV my favourit sounding car. I just loved every bit about the car, from the features to the futuristic and aggressive holes in the bodywork. The pricetag is rediculous though, although I was otherwise minded earlier on. However, I don't understand why the Lexus badge would make you feel embarrassed publicly. A supercar is a supercar, and half of the people don't even follow the latest news. Anyone who sees this car passing by will drop their eyes on it.

I somehow managed to miss the last episode, but fortunately it was repeated on BBC2 last night (or was it not shown in Scotland before? That is always a possibility!).

Anyway, compared to the rest of the series, I really enjoyed it. The Bolivia special was good too, though, but atleast this episode was a bit less contrived and a bit more about the cars. Good stuff, and I can only hope that the next series is something to look forward to.

Nope, you just missed it the first time it was shown
I enjoyed it as well - I rewatched it last night. May's bit was surprisingly amusing and the Lexus part was brilliant!

👍 I really enjoyed the Lexus bit, original and interesting too. It didn't convince me to buy one though. Like Seasick Steve, I started out with nothing, and I have most of it left...

I think >300000 quid would put everyone off from buying one! :P
I forgot abbout the Seasick Steve interview. It was really good as well!
Clarkson's part was a little tedious though 👎

Top Gear's The Stig seen by Loch Ness on Google Street View

BBC Top Gear's enigmatic racing car driver The Stig mysteriously appeared on Google's Street View, standing by the side of a road at Loch Ness.

Perhaps the monstrously famous petrol head was hoping to catch a glimpse of the loch's elusive beastie.

Or maybe his car had broken down and he was hitching a lift.

The helmeted figure was spotted by Michael Booth, 36, of Middlesbrough.

He said: 'He didn't have his helmet off, or one Loch Ness mystery might have been solved.'

The true identity of the BBC show's test-track demon has never been confirmed. Some people even think there has been more than on Stig, with Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill often rumoured to have donned the white suit and helmet.

The lakeside sighting above is thought to be a stunt for a Where's Stig? book.

You never know where else Stiggy might pop up, after all he IS the internet... :sly:

Robin.

Actually, there is no reason whatsoever Lexus should not put this sort of pricetag on the LF-A. The pricetag on a Pagani Zonda roadster is around 300,000 pounds as well and if you take a look at the power lap board on the Top Gear website, the LF-A lapped the track a full second quicker than the Zonda whilst doing that in the wet. I just find the price another stupid thing for people to put Lexus down while in fact they have done a brilliant job on that supercar. Just look where the LF-A is on the power lap board with that wet lap. You don't buy a supercar because you want to keep your budget as tight as possible. You buy a supercar because you have more money than brains and you don't have anything better to do anyway. A spaceship looking 550bhp V10 supercar is amongst those exact things these people are looking for. I just find it funny how people bash the price of this car just because it's so expensive.

Very true actually and great justification. 👍
I take it it's too late too retract my statement... :P
Is it just me or is the LF-A one of the hottest supercars around just now?

I think it is. It's not as supercar pretty as a Zonda, but the LF-A is an insanity with all those loops and holes everywhere to improve its handling. I still think the Lexus badge is no reason not to buy this car, and the headlights looked better on the concept, but overall I think Lexus have done a stunning job for what is Toyota's first ever supercar.

I love it myself, they look even better 'in the metal';
