It'll suck just like the Australian version does.

That, and Russian TG was even worse!

Tanner isn't half bad on Supercars Exposed, and I think he'll play a role similar to Jason Plato on 5th Gear (that could itself be seen as a good or bad thing). Not sure about the other guys as I don't know much about them, but not expecting much. But even new TG took a couple of different personnel changes to get the right mix. Carolla would have been good,

TGA is going to be more like 5th gear than top gear. Top Gear works because of the personalities of Clarkson, Hammond, and May. The American solution just seems to be, "Hire a racing driver, a stand-up comic, and some other guy." That won't work.

, that was beautiful. And that's probably the most exciting thing that will ever be reported on BBC Look North.

I really enjoyed that show. An incredible expedition, a great review, a new reasonably priced car and a silly jaunt in the reliant robin. I'm looking forward to the rest of this season 👍

I thought it was good, particularly liked the cinematography on the Bentley film as well as the Iceland bit. Infact the Iceland section was probably my favourite piece, I just found that quite incredible for some reason. Not to mention Iceland is beautiful. I thought overal it was a good episode, the SIARPC was interesting especially seeing Hammonds reaction to Louis Spence, the Reliant was a bit...erm...ok. It was funny to begin with but got a bit repetitive, I liked it but it missed some of the classic TG funny-ness. Anyway, usually the series openers are relatively weak in comparison to the rest of the series so hopefully it will improve as the series goes on.

I have to say I'm actually surprised that everyone ended up doing sub-2 minute laps in a piece of crap Kia Cee'd :sly:. The Reliant bit had me laughing so hard that I was coughing. No wonder three wheels never caught on (unless you're talking about tricycles).

I just saw it online, very funny episode! Good Supersports review! Now I really want to get a Reliant Robin just so I can flip it! It looked like fun!

I thought it was good. I'm quite excited to see what's in store for next week. I'll be in Alaska, but I'll have my laptop with. I'm surprised they didn't do the series preview like they usually do the first episode of a series. Surprises, perhaps?

I thought the new episode was pretty good but it could have been a little better, although I would much rather have them play the more stale episodes first and save the best for last. I disliked the cinematography during the Bentley scene though; the boxer in the background just ruined it for me.

I agree with most of you guys, I thought it was a solid and entertaining episode, a bit closer to Top Gear of old. It bodes well for the rest of the series IMO.

They didn't show one last series either. Their explanation last time was that they still weren't done filming the whole series by the time the first episode aired. It's probably the same story this time around too.

Best episode in ages. The Reliant segment had me laughing out loud several times. Classic slapstick - you always know what's going to happen but it's still funny when it does.

The icelanding section was good too, nice to see a return for the Toyota. I enjoyed the new reasonably priced car segment as well, they had some pretty decent people there and the car was a definite improvement on the previous ones!

Nowt wrong with the C'eed. It's a pretty good car. And no, I'm not joking.

Yeah it was a gr8 episode and I can't w8 for next weeks!

To give yourself something to do while you're waiting, you can learn how to type the words "great" and "wait" and get the text-speak thing out of your system:

  • You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

Indeed (although it's Cee'd not C'eed :P). I was actually surprised they didn't pick something more rubbish, but maybe it's a sign that there's not really much rubbish left on sale anymore. Well actually there's a whole number of Protons, but forcing anyone to drive a Gen-2 is outlawed under the Geneva Convention, I believe.

It was a good episode overall imo but I think that the Reliant rolling over got repetitive and felt like they were just filling time..

I actually thought the Reliant section was going to be a challenge when he had the map up at the beginning. When he said he was driving 17 miles I couldn't help but lol.

Then seeing the Reliant roll as he came out of the entrance was pretty funny aswell.

Great episode. I thought it was good that they mixed it up with a little bit of Iceland adventure, car review and humor. I'm glad to see that they actually reached a real conclusion by saying the Aston is better than the Bentley, much more like the Top Gear of yore 👍 .

Plus, I was laughing through the whole Reliant Robin part. I wonder whether the part where he was being helped by the reporter guy on BBC North was staged or not, and whether they actually showed it on TV.

Bah. Dam'n punctuation wh'ere it shou'ld'n't be.

The Gen-2 is pretty much the worst car on sale I can think of, but it's damn difficult to find anything else that's even average. The Kia and the similar Hyundai are actually supposed to be very good cars. The only things I can think of that would be bad enough to be the RPC are things like the Kia Carens or Hyundai Matrix, but both of those would be probably a little too comical, since they're mini MPVs...

Where are cars like the Kia Shuma any more?...

I'd assume it was entirely staged. I expect there would have been a lot more activity on the internet about it had it been in a genuine TV report...

Indeed. Yorkshire Evening Post for one would have got very excited. Find a slightly straight banana and they do a 3 page report, so a car rolling over live on BBC1 would be followed up with a front page report, a supplementary magazine about the Reliant Robin and a free Only Fools & Horses DVD.

That was a classic episode, I'm glad that they're back to their old antics. I couldn't stop laughing at the Reliant segment, rolling everywhere including the cricket pitch (and having Dickie Bird quite annoyed at him) and to top it off with the car rolling into the river was quite the ending. :)

I also had to  at Louie trying to molest Hammond during that All-Star SIARPC segment and Hammond getting all cut up that he couldn't talk to Amy Williams because Jeremy had hogged her all to himself.
