With the amount of driving they do they surely must be fairly adept at it at least. JC has been doing this for decades now. I suspect if they did the start in a reasonably priced car all 3 would be within touching distance of the fastest time.
I can't remember exactly, but the first SIARPC's car was something like a 1.48.xxx I believe and Jeremy did a 1.50.000 dead. So its not bad only 1 and a bit seconds off the top time.

So this series will be seven episodes and not six....but wasn't the last series seven episodes as well?....

Slightly disappointed that retro hot hatches and SIARPC are all they're doing this episode.

"Pikey's peak" stands as the only highlight so far.

I didn't think it was possible for TG to get any worse.

I was wrong.

If I said that was a little juvenile, I can't see how people could disagree with me, realistically. I think there is amusing and then there is pandering to the audience of thrills, not motorists. Ugh.

The wrapping of the cars, Pikes Peaky and some of the shopping stuff was funny, the rest was crap.

I don't understand why they feel the need to chip in some of the stuff they chip in. "All you need to know is I have an erection." Really, Top Gear, really? :indiff:

I was quite enjoying the show up to the supermarket sweep and it rapidly went downhill from there - not the best season opener ever!

That stuff is useless and just crap. I hate all of their cheap jokes for 12 year olds, just do funny things with cars!

Do you happen to find erections offensive?

 I thought this episode was pretty funny. Lots of product placement opportunities in that supermarket scene.

I mean yes you might be excited to be in a tank, but the whole sequence wasn't necessary, it was almost as if they ran out of ideas towards the end. The vehicles wore somewhat thin. My flat mate called it a soap opera, and I'm not sure he was far off.

Maybe I'm going to sound a bit... green(?) here, but I couldn't help but think the food being squashed there could have been used in much better, worthwhile ways. :scared:

My dad said that, I don't care though because it was hilarious. The things like the explosions and the Nova ending up on its side was completely unnecessary.

No, I just don't see how that kind of humour has any rightful place in a motoring programme. Then again, I'm not sure Top Gear is a motoring programme now, it's just slapstick using cars as the bassline. As @hsv010 said, it's pandering to 12 year olds.

This episode - clearer than any other - showed that they weren't taking anything seriously.

Hammond's accidents were painfully forced however, and his hijinks rarely fail to make me cringe as it is. The police chases descended into one long and cartoonish joke, but I did find it surprisingly funny at times.

Nothing quite as bad as the supermarket skit though. Complete waste of a second quarter segment.

The crashes were by far the worst bit. That police challenge could have been brilliant like the police car episode, but they got lazy and stupid. The supermarket bit was brilliant up until the Nova's turn.
