Check it out:

I believe this is what you call attention to details.

wow amazing. GT5 new demo at the show made me realize that a lot of detail can be in game, and now THIS! wow.. holly 🤬 with PS3s price drop now, amazing technology games, and amazing line up.. SONY is back to its, PS1 and PS2 podium with PS3.. the KINGS CHAIR.

Played demo today! Very nice looking game, good story.

Realy hard for me to play it on controller.

Any possibility to plug in keyboard and mouse and play on it?

Have you played the first one? Is the game play so much different that you need a keyboard and mouse? I certainly hope not.

Also, are you in the beta or has the demo been released and I missed it?

PS3 is my first play station ever. Resident evil 5 demo was my first shooter game on controller, really hard to figure which button is for shooting, reloading etc. Actually the hardest thing for me is aiming. I just suck at it. It last 10 seconds to aim the target.

So no, I haven't played first part, just difficult for me to play it on controller.

I think it's demo. I have downloaded it from PS Store today when I was looking for Dirt2 demo.

Most shooters have sensitivity settings in the control options to help it work the way you feel it should. But don't hold out hope for keyboard and mouse controls on any game. The PS3 can do it, but even with Command and Conquer it wasn't added.

I am almost positive the demo you got was Uncharted 1, not Uncharted 2. Was there a plane crash at the beginning? Unless you are in some obscure special region that we don't knwo about, there has been no Uncharted 2 demo, just an online multiplayer beta test.

And do not judge anything console related on Resident Evil 5's control schemes. Long time console gamers have complained about that. They have a unique setup that only fans of the series feel completely comfortable with.

Uncharted 2 is going to be the best game on PS3!!! Until GT5 comes out
And I'm getting both!

I'm playing the first one right now (rental) and...

I'm afraid I hate it. Not as much as I hated Fallout and some distance less than I hated PAIN, but I do hate it.

And it's a pity, because I like Naughty Dog's stuff. Crash Bandicoot without them was pap. Jak and Daxter was great but this...

It's Tomb Raider. I don't like Tomb Raider, whatever the wrapper. It's a very pretty wrapper, but it's still Tomb Raider.

So, like Fallout, I'll rock up that Platinum and send it back.
Very well, I shall stay tuned to see if you later also will write "I played GT5 now and I hate it. It's racing and cars. I hate driving games. It's pretty and all, but still racing. I'm sending it back."

:)

Given that I rented Uncharted and have preordered GT5, I also doubt it.

I didn't like Tomb Raider either, but I enjoyed Uncharted. They feel completely different to me. Uncharted is, in my opinion, more like being Indiana Jones.

I liked the feeling of escapism and fun in the game. OK it's a bit corny in places but somehow it was fun enough to keep me playing. It's not as involving as MGS and the battles aren't as far ranging as Killzone but it was... well just fun. It's relaxing to play and I could come back to it when I had time. I found more involving titles, like MGS, aren't worth picking up unless I had a good hour or two to play.

So, I'm looking forward to this new one and just hope they keep the same spirit as the first one.

My point was why would you go rent a treasure hunting game when you knew beforehand that you hated the concept? It's like hating a racing game because it had cars in it.

In a few more hours the demos will be live to anyone who pre-ordered the game. I personally had a blast with the previous U2 demo that came with infamous and it truly is a remarkable game. I'm counting the hours until i can return to the game and if the demo is any indication the full release will change gaming.

Heck even the first review got a 21/20. Amazing.

That's a very interesting spin you've put on it, considering I've said no such thing.

I think his point is that you said it was like Tomb Raider (Actually you said it is tomb Raider) and you don't like Tomb Raider. Granted, he made the leap from Tomb Raider to treasure hunting game, but I can see how he did it considering that the only people, aside from yourself and a minority of others, who say Uncharted is like Tomb Raider are people that haven't played it yet.

Basically, it would be like someone saying they don't like God of War and then complaining about the Quicktime Event action of Heavenly Sword. It could easily be assumed that their dislike for God of War is in its QTE action style. That isn't necessarily true, as they have significant differences, but the assumption is easy to make.

I am not saying he is correct, just that his leap of logic is relatively small in comparison to some of the stuff that floats around on the Internet.

The closed multiplayer demo / beta for U2 is currently running. It's much better than the last beta, with more modes activated now, it's looking and running really really well.

The same multiplayer demo will be available for everyone in the store in a couple of weeks time and will run till the games release in mid Oct.

I won a U2 demo code from this guy, and while I haven't played it myself, a couple of my clanmates have said bullets deviate excessively and it's just overall not a good game. I participated in the beta and it was fine then, so no idea what Naughty Dog did to mess up.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.

That and if you rent it, you should be able to get through it in a weekend.

Did fantastic as expected. Can't wait to see the visuals seeing it got a 10/10.

There were 2-3 other reviews I have noticed via the ign site that rank the game highly as well.

I know thats an old post but wow, I would expect a much more knowledgeable, well rounded post from a moderator. Uncharted = Tomb Raider? That's laughable at best. Might as well say that GT = NFS. They both feature cars that you can drive, so it just means the "wrapper" is different, right? :indiff:

Anyways...glad to see Uncharted 2 starting off on the right foot. I'll definitely consider it as a near future purchase, assuming GT5 gets delayed hahaha.

What does the fact I'm a moderator have to do with anything? Why bring it up at all?

Please feel free to tell me where I'm wrong rather than just that I am. Bear in mind that I've played both games to the very end.

I'd say Uncharted is the lost spirit that tomb raider had. TR 1 was truely awesome and then after that it became crap. Uncharted is like the superior version of that and it seems it's taking the opposite road as in being great the next time around as well.

Thing is, to me - though I'm obviously wrong - it's not just the mechanics of the game that are similar. The plots are similar. The villains are similar. The locations are similar. The entire gameplay experience is there or thereabouts.

You're doing the same thing as Lara (hunting an ancient treasure in Central America) by doing the same thing as Lara (jumping, "puzzle" solving, swimming, falling to your death several times), occasionally losing all your weapons like Lara (and upgrading your pistol to bigger pistols, uzis, shotguns) and facing the same enemies as Lara (right down to the "mutants"). The mechanics, the cutscenes, the plot - it's all Tomb Raider updated for the 21st century.

There's differences. Drake's a guy. There's some romance and bromance. You get a grenade launcher. But the overall feeling is... Tomb Raider. And that's disappointing for a fan of Naughty Dog's previous work.

Though again, I'm clearly wrong and shouldn't have rented it because I knew I'd hate it. Or something.

Its more fun in playing and in story. (also because of the good voice acting) and graphic wise its just settings the bar higher for this generation like tomb raider did 10 years (?) ago.

Anyway cant wait anymore for part two. Gonna ignore all trailers that will gonna get posted since it almost seems we seen the whole game though trailers already haha. 1 month and counting ...

So because NFS Shift and GT share many of the same cars and tracks makes them the same? Ok.

So you're complaining that an action/adventure games has you doing the things that make it an action/adventure game? Hilarious. That's like playing Mario and complaining that you have to jump between platforms and jump on mushroom guys. As for the other stuff...the Half Life games also have sequences where you lose your guns, have to jump between platforms (or fall to your death), and even solve puzzles. Must mean it's just like Tomb Raider.

Uncharted has many differences in mechanics that make it a much more enjoyable experience...one of the most significant is the fact that you dont NEED a picture perfect jump in order to not die (btw if you fell to your death a lot in Uncharted, please, play different games. I don't play these types of games much but had no problem navigating most of the platforming areas). Drake would hang onto ledges if you were a little short...hand to hand combat was awesome. Controls were crisp. The story presentation is lightyears beyond anything in TR. But nope, they're in the same genre so they're the same.

Though again, I'm clearly wrong and shouldn't have rented it because I knew I'd hate it. Or something.

Many of your complaints are the core things that make action/adventure games what they are, so yes, you hit the nail on the head here. :P
