Mazda Kusabi Concept, If I remeber right you can win it somwhere in the career (it's not so easy to find in the UCD) but once you get it it's like a little rocket, probably the fastest car in the game in the 200 / 250hp range, superb handling. It would be interesting see what happen if it find an Elise RM.. tough race but I would put my 2 cent on the Kusabi..

I've never driven the Kusabi, didn't look promising to be honest.
Sleeper :D

The '05 Impreza RM with 505hp can dominate the opposition in the Nurb' 4H race. Good acceleration, great handling and actually fast on the straights. This must be a sub-500K Sleeper.

It's an RM, sorry :(

Yes that's the car. I have a stock one and a fully modded one. It is a Neon. Just not called that in the game:) And it's faster and cheaper than 4 of the cars on your list.

Added.
That's really cheap too!

The Toyota tundra fully tuned is good and can outrun people on the nurburgring. I can't believe how fast it goes. Also my diahatsu midget fully tuned did an 8:29 sec lap on the ring and that was without practice so I could shave lots of time off that.

I can't find the Tundra on the mygranturismo.net site.
I've heard awesome stories about the Midget though :D

How can anything with race mods be considered a sleeper?

A sleeper is a car you pull up to on the road that looks like a regular old car but actually has something like an LSx swap or a ton of work done to it. If I see a car with stripped interior, number plates, sponsor stickers and straight pipes, it's not really "under the radar".

That is very true.
No sleepers please guys.

The RS6 Avant is a pure animal when well tuned. 950+ hp in a wagon. Will run in the low 7.XX.xx on the Nurb when I drive it, and I've seen others get it into the 6 minute range. It also dominates drag races against a lot of cars, and I've seen people drift it :scared: The only problem with it's "sleeper" status is that most people know what it can do :/

I've raced against that many times, I'm scared of it now :D

Well... My Odyssey isn't too much of a sleeper being that its matte Pink with a wing, but its 407 hp, and definitely boogies!

Yep, definitely a sleeper.
I'm very impressed by it.

+1 to what freedomweasel posted. "Sleeper" (or "q-car" for the Europeans) is a term that is pretty much based on appearance alone, so I'm sorry, you can't be telling me that an RM Impreza or a Lotus of any kind qualifies as a sleeper. RS6 Avant or the older B5 RS4 Avant I can kind of understand calling a sleeper, but look at the stock widened flares on the arches of those cars and you know they're not messing around. Something like the Camry XLE v6 is closer to a sleeper than an RUF.

Yep, first post updated.

the Volvo C30....great handling, keep the bodykit stock and its a sleeper, mines not with full bodykit matte blue paint with yellow rims, its a swedish mauler

Ah, I remember that from the Seasonal.
Slightly tuned and it was already pretty good.

adding the lancia delta intergrale as well, drives really well for an awd with just over 400hp as its a earlier awd car it does understeer but with tuning its better

I was impressed with the rally car but I haven't even driven that car yet.
Despite the fact I enjoy rally base cars.

It seems people find it hard to grasp the "sleeper concept"

Its a car...looking at it you would never imagine the beast inside, tuned or not.

Lotus and RUFS and supras...some of you have mentioned are not sleepers. these are sports cars. Look it up. They already come powerful and dont require a whole lot of work to be fast.

On the other hand Honda Minivan is a sleeper. Google is your friend.

So should I take the Supra and the ZZII off the list?

Aren't RUFs expected to be fast anyways?

And Supras aren't? Or the ZZII or the Kusabi or the Delta HF?
Those aren't sleepers in my book.

Truth is, almost any slow car in the game can be a sleeper. The 88 accord coupe with some modes can take out the spoon cars probably. I'm sure you can do the same with the honda fits, the toyota yaris', the vovlvo wagons and most others.

The Kusabi doesn't look like a performance car.
Supra, ZZII and Delta HF removed.
I'm relying on you guys to give me info here :)

I think it depends on what definition of sleeper you mean.

A true sleeper is one that looks like any old car at the stop light then leaves you in its dust. However you take your tuned Supra up against some of the lower tier race cars 200-300k range and you win that car could be a sleeper since it raced against actual race cars.

That being said I would remove them as they are sports cars.

Oh and my vote is the Audi S3. Nice little hatchback once you throw some mods on it.

Doesn't look like it but it's light, isn't it 1000-1100kg, and was a favorite for one of the time trails from a recent SEASONAL.

How can any audi S or BMW M or Mercedes AMG car be a sleeper?
The amount of badges telling you it's souped up version of a normal car automatically disqualify the car from sleeper status.

Thanks, and added.

Yeah, doesn't LOOK like a performance car, which is what sleepers are based on.
I've now just removed the S3.
This is a bit of a grey area isn't it?

Tom’s X540 CHASER ‘00. Understated body kit. Four doors. For all anyone knows, it's some crappy mid-sized sedan.

Mitsubitshi LEGNUM, Monster off the line when fully tuned, good for drag and short courses

VitzRS turbo 143 hp, 980 kg.(stock) still testing this one. estimated to get 303 hp with 840 kg.

Hyundai tiburon GT 406 hp 322ftq when fully tuned 1115 KG can hit over 203 mph with out drafting with the right tune 201 with out tune 256 when drafting.

Oh sorry, didn't see that

No problem.

I think you guys mis-understand sleeper.. Supra RZ is not a sleeper.. neither is a RUF tuned porsche.. A sleeper would be a base model 94 240sx with sr20det swap :P SRT-4 isn't a sleeper ethier, everyone knows its boosted and pretty fast for 20g's.

But it's well known that "TOM" is a tuner.

It's easy to forget, and is much more of a sleeper than some cars mentioned (and omitted) here. The Chaser model doesn't exactly scream 'performance'. To the uninitiated, it looks like a crappy mid-sized sedan. Thankfully, there's plenty of room in the trunk for storing paper-towels to help soak up the tears of your competitors.

Which is why I didn't include those cars.

How can you forget the TOM Supra?

Nissan skyline sedan 350GT type SP 06

Used It in the seasonal event and was surprised by how good it was, especially qt handling. Fully tuned it has 430hp, has 4 doors and is only 38,000 cr.

Oh yea dude, i have an 05' neon srt4 in real life, And while mine has only done "144" i have seen bone stock 05' models(Ones with stage 1 injectors, a few more toys and LSD) can hit 160 mph stock there really not sleepers, As you can literally hear one a mile away in real life seeing as how they come from the factory with no mufler, and turbo whine that sounds like its from a tractor or cummins deisel, nothing about that car says sleeper. now the Dodge neon RT that was a sleeper. it was also drivable in Granturismo 2. also was shown in a video where PD were recording the sound of a blue one.

Don't you mean the 370GT?

Ah, removed from the list.
