It's a pretty tasteless comment from a self-presented public figure regardless of which attack he said it about. He's also wrong, France doesn't have gun laws that are notably different from many other west European countries - they're not actually as "tough" as other countries around them (comparison here).

What is tasteless, let alone ignorant about pointing out an obvious truth? As for Mr. Araud, its clear this guy is scared to accept the obvious reality about France's stupid gun laws. Then again when you think about it France have tons dumb laws so a dumb response is well expected.

I guess this is going to be along the "arm everybody to stop gun crime!" path?

Thank you for trying to help me with what I think when I think about it... but you're dead wrong. It's a great place to live, that's for sure, I wonder if you know what you're talking about?

I agree with a majority of what you said but I do not believe racists should be left to their own devices, especially in the south.

Why the south specifically? This sounds a bit...prejudiced.

Trump is going to steamrol this.

That was my immediate reaction, but the election is a long way off and the electorate have a notoriously short memory. If CNN happens to dig up something really important, like a picture of Trump with his dog on the roof of his limousine or giving a homeless guy only $5 instead of $100, his chances could go into the crapper.

Doesn't matter to me, I'm having the time of my life following this run for the White House campaign!

I'm to the point where we are screwed no matter who wins. Republicans want to shoot down Russian planes, while keeping gays from getting married, preventing abortions, and teaching the bible in Science class. The democrats want to socialize medicine and schooling while ignoring the fact that the system as it is will not allow for people to become educated.

OP Updated with Jindal's withdraw and Obama's new Job Approval numbers.

As an aside while the political thrashing goes on... I was interested to see why the comparative reds (Democrats) are coloured blue in US elections and the Republicans are blue. The wiki's very interesting, but I wish they'd colour them according to the political spectrum :)

At times I really do wonder if Trump is trolling... or if he is really this messed up.
Whatever else he is, Trump is shrewd. His polls are soaring - I saw one at 42% - and his rivals are falling away. He is now the clear favorite for the Republican nomination, but the establishment is doubling down on crushing him. Kasich currently is spending big on ads questioning Trump's character and so on. We'll have to see.

My favorite mental image of Trump is a loose cannon on the deck of storm-tossed galleon. The establishment devoutly wants him overboard, but they fear to get in his way while he is still on deck.

Has anyone actually heard Trump say the exact words or are we relying on some left-wing rag for their "interpretation" of what he said?

I wonder if Trump is being a typical politician, saying things to get the vote of as many different types of people as he can, but in reality talking out of his behind...

He seems to be freely trash-talking all the establishment and experts (of both parties), whom the populists feel have betrayed them. The typical politicians are highly envious and jealous of his getaway-with-anything free pass. He seems to exploit social media with far greater dexterity than his challengers. His advantage is such that he is spending almost zero money whilst his rivals are owing millions to their backers. Unless his prairie fire burns out real soon, he is openly toying with his rivals all the way to the nomination. It's an unprecedented political phenomenon.

Trump has just gone full Nazi.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-34873057

Yes considering the possibility of making Muslims carry special ID is fantastic. Not at all like how the Nazis treated the Jews.

He said...

...in Newton, Iowa, in between campaign town halls. MSNBC.

Q: Should there be a database system in this country that tracks Muslims?
A: There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases, there should be a lot of systems and today you can do it. You have to have a border, you have to have strength, you have to have a wall.

Q: Is that something you would like to do (directly after the above statement)
A: Oh I would certainly do that. Absolutely.

Q: What do you think the effect would be how would that work?
A: We will stop people from coming into our country illegally.

Q: For Muslims specifically how would you do that?
A: Good management.

Q: Where would you sign them up? In mosques?
A: Different places.

Trump: The key is they have to come into the country legally...thank you very much...

It's all in the context.

So as it turns out the "Oh I would certainly do that. Absolutely." was in answer to a completely different question. Considering the source, that surprises me not at all.

Has anyone actually heard Trump say the exact words or are we relying on some left-wing rag for their "interpretation" of what he said?

MSNBC. It amuses me that people who would ridicule the use of Fox as a source will cite MSNBC.
