That was Kovalainen, not Kobayashi
Was it? I always heard people talk about how it was Kobayashi? Very similar names so I can see how one can be confused or mistake them for either one.

EDIT- Yeah it was Kovalainen. My mistake.

Even so, I don't see how Kovalainen can be blamed for that accident. Webber had just pitted, so was on new tyres, he had a massive car advantage and was quite a way behind Heikki. Kovalainen had every right to defend as he did, and braked as late as his car could, but Webber forgot that he was racing a Lotus and not a McLaren, which is why he hit him. It's the same reason neither Alonso nor Gutierrez were penalised following the Melbourne accident.

Never said it was his fault or anyone's, but valid points raised there. 👍

Jacques Villeneuve was nowhere near as untalented as people made him out to be.

A git? Absolutely.
A terrible driver? Nope.

If Williams had kept Renault Engines he certainly would be more sucessful. Another unpopular opinion: Nico Rosberg deserves his 2016 title, everyone seem to bash Rosberg that he only got the title because Hamilton had mechanical problems but there are many drivers who lost their championship title because of mechanical failures. Notable example is Mika Häkkinen in 2000 where his engine on many races just burst into flames or Kimi Räikkönen in 2005 both where driving for Mclaren.

You can still replace the tarmac and concrete with new tarmac and concrete, it's just bumpy horrible and unaesthetic as it is.

They should also put in proper barriers, especially after what happened in T1 at the 12 hour this year.

Fuji is a hundred times better after the redesign by Tilke.

Agreed, going by the older versions from GT (sadly I haven't seen the real thing), with modern high downforce cars, be it F1 or super GT, any races would be a snoozefest. The Tilke redesign at least added a few corners with multiple lines available and bunches the cars up.

Probably been said already, But new Hockenheim is way better than old Hockenheim. Power circuits like old Hockenheim and Monza are usually quite boring. Monza could probably use a layout change as well.

Most of these have been very arguable. You win hands down.
Imagine a nice, smooth turn 17 with a little banking so guys can go 2 wide and not end up in the wall for no other reason than that the tires were not on the ground enough to turn the car. Boy that sounds amazing

I think the popular race tracks in England, 'Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Donnington' are only popular due to historical value, if people removed the sentiment of historical reference they would find them to be outdated, boring and recommend that they all be bulldozed for development estates,

In my albeit limited sim racing experience with Donington I've found it to provide some pretty good racing. Brands and Silverstone on the other hand really suck honestly.

I there is a place for power circuits on any racing calendar. But I think it only works when there is variety in the circuit types. You can't have a calendar made up entirely of power circuits, just as you can't have a calendar made up of technical circuits.

Silverstone I don't care about but Donington, Oulton, Brands and Knockhill are the four best tracks in the UK and rightly so.

Add Thruxton too if you like power circuits with an added challenge.

Compared to those other five, Silverstone gets a hugely disproportinate level of protection and support.

[QUOTE="NW48, post: 11636986, member: 260256"though, the one thing I remember about him in F1 is the crash he had with Webber at Valencia.[/QUOTE]

Aside from that being Kovalainen (as @Jimlaad43 pointed out) that accident was entirely Webber's fault for failing to realise how early the Caterham had to brake compared to his own Red Bull.

They may be the best tracks in the U.K. But they're all terrible...

This is a thread for unpopular opinions! Not sensible ones that I agree with!

That's more like it!
