The reason why I find Model S overrated is because of that "hoi Tesla cen bit your S8 , without polluting the Earth." A classic comment on a "drag" race . But whoever says "but S8 would beat it on a racetrack, where it isnt all about acceleration" would end up molested criticised . Most of the fans of Tesla hate tracks but it is where it would be beat by any supercar or even much weaker cars. Tesla isn't just that quick.
Never seen such Tesla fans.

I have absolutely zero bias towards Tesla (as I am not at all that familiar with them), but that's the thing. The Tesla wasn't made to be track-oriented, unlike the S8, let alone supercars.

To answer both your questions @Neddo

  1. You clearly didn't read what I said, I literally said I wasn't calling the fact you wanted to see lap times stupid or wrong...
  2. Because capitalism, I guess.
Also I have no idea what Tesla fans you've been talking to...

I don't have much doubt that a P90 could outdo an S65 on the track anyway. They both weigh about about the same, but the P90 is substantially more powerful and has AWD so even if it didn't handle as well with its very low center of gravity, the Mercedes shouldn't embarrass it.

I guess that I was in a wierd part of youtube.

Lap times, especially Nurburgring lap times mean absolutely nothing on the street at legal speeds.
I never said that lap times make cars like these better. P90D is way more practical for places like Norway but going down to UAE is where petrol still rules. For everyday use, Tesla is better. But reliability of Teslas isn't that amazing and poorer countries will have to wait for decent refill network.

What about RS7? CLS63S? S8 Plus?

Another opinions:
-Jaguar makes much more reliable cars than before. Maybe even more than overrated german competition
-RS7 is beautiful and subzero !
-Future transport will impress car enthusiasts!
-430 Scuderia is underrated.

Tesla is a car with blistering acceleration but its not a car made for tackling tracks, it's an everyday car. I haven't seen a single video comparing it on a race track with something. Only "drag" racing. Does anyone have some lap times of Model S and competition like S8 or S65?

Tesla "Racing" Series

Here it is driving Willow Springs with the best lap of 1:45, which isn't fast by any means, but it's not super slow either.

And here it is driving Sonoma with the best lap of 2:06

He also did a 1:53 at Laguna Seca, which is faster then an NSX driving by Jeremy Clarkson and former racing driver Steve Millen. Also right there with a C5 Z06 driving by Millen as well. Link

Tesla racing series...? is not what it sounds like. Interesting to note some of his comments on the limitations imposed by battery cooling issues.

You're still not making much sense.

The German super saloons are "overrated" because for as long as I can remember, they are the best at making a good super saloon.

The 430 Scuderia is hardly underrated.

I never said that they are overrated.
Apart from just here, when you said they were overrated:

...
Your opinion. Please let's not escalate this too
No, the Scuderia got fantastic reviews when it was new. Something cannot be underrated if it was described as brilliant originally, unless it was considerably better than brilliant.

Apart from just here, when you said they were overrated:
Well, I missed, that should have been: Jaguar makes much more reliable cars than before. Maybe even more than overrated german competition. But competition has a largeass following and it's another story.

I still find it prettier than F40.

I feel like every post from you is just an excuse to bring up JLR products somehow, regardless of how relevant it is to the thread.

This would be an unpopular opinion.

Saying the Scuderia is underrated is not, it is demonstrably untrue.

XJ-S is awesome (maybe this is unpopular?).

SLC is way way better
But the SLC didn’t start production until a good 20-odd years after XJS stopped being made. Even if both were made at the same time, I don't think they would even directly compete anyway.

Unpopular opinions of the day:

There is much, much more to an automobile than raw numbers on a page or screen.

Other people not liking a car that I like is perfectly ok. The same goes if opinion is reversed. It's called variety for a reason.

I miss the days when Rolls Royce didn't bother to advertise engine power, adequate was all you needed to know, pass the Grey Poupon please...

Minivans are cool

I agree with this. They are the most practical and wonderful road trip cars out there. But people don't want them because of the whole "soccer mom" stigma, despite that moving onto crossovers/suv's now. WHY would you choose a SUV with a cramped 3rd row when you could get a more spacious minivan? Drives me mad when I see a young family come into my work (a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership) and ask for a Durango, Journey, or Grand Cherokee when they have 3 or more kids. Heck, I really like the new Chrysler Pacifica and the rear seat features are awesome.

Heck, I've considered borrowing my dad's Toyota Sienna to bring to drift events instead of my IS300 to camp out in.

Same here, just replace "minivan" with "wagon".
