Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '78 - Pontiac debut in Brand Central?

While I'm stoked to see the '78 T/A enter GT Sport, I hope it leads to more Pontiacs. And by that, I mean that I would prefer PD to follow the lead of Turn 10 for the Forza series. I would love to see some special 3rd & 4th gen Firebirds, not updated versions of the '64 GTO that they've had in other GT games. I'm thinking the '89 Turbo T/A and the '02 Collector's Edition (or any '96-'02 WS6 variant). The Turbo T/A could fill in for the Buick Grand National that was another favorite of mine from the franchise. If they want to be a development team after my own heart, they'll look to bring the '04-'06 GTO back into the series. I'd love to recreate my '05 model in the game & replicate GM's factory backed GTO.R race car.

There is going to be a lot of Burt Reynolds tributes in the livery editor.

Yes there will.

Wow. Surprised that there is so many people disappointed here.
Everything except the Tesla seems like a great addition to me. 👍

In an effort to quell my desire to buy GT Sport back in March, I bought a used copy of GT6 for my PS3. The first car I saved for was the '78 T/A. But, about 3 weeks later, the GT Sport bug bit hard enough that it won. This update will effectively deep six my copy of GT6.

There's other bodykit that actually more radical than that. I dont have the GT6 pitcure but its exactly this:
View attachment 782267

And yes, it changes the rear end too.

That picture looks to be practically stock. If there is a body kit on that car, it's mild & difficult to see because the photographer took a picture on the shadow side. That photographer would make the worst Scapes in GT Sport.

I'm thinking the T/A will have longer gearing than the Mach I and Challenger. It'll be my go to car if I can also get it low enough, to look good in replays.

It should look awesome in replays. Hopefully the days of tires poking up through the fenders are gone.

For my own comment, I'm just waiting for the Challenger SRT8 Touring Car to return to the franchise. It could make a good Gr. 4 car & wouldn't look out of place battling the Mustang Gr. 4 car.

Even though rain is in the game, I don't think Kaz thinks it's good enough for racing gameplay. There should be much more water droplets on the windshield and the rest of the car, the tires sound like they are on a dry surface, and you should be able to here the rain in 3rd person hitting the ground.
Why adding moving windshield wipers then? I still have hope for weather.

...maybe this is reason why eV part is disabled on i3. Even F70 doesn't have it enabled as far as I know...
The i3 in GT Sport is not the range extender model, as it doesn't have the seperate fuel filler cap, and you can only hear the electric motor while driving. It's definitely EV only.

I'm excited to see the F50 and Tesla, although it's a bit strange that they're still using the pre-facelift model? Would have been better to see a facelift P100DL

Yeah i know, right? Just 7 FREE cars. How dare they give us just 7 FREE cars.

Good grief, i dispair of humanities self serving greed nowadays, especially greed over free items.

Well jeez, good to know i can't be fully honest with my feelings on the cars in this update. :/

It should also be noted that 3 of the 7 are completely new to the series (and highly requested) which is also very impressive.

I guess after a year of almost monthly dlc in car packs numbering in the 9's and up, people were expecting something extra special during the festive month, but PD cannot really be held accountable for that as no such promises were made. But I do understand some people's disappointment. And probably after the early leaks of such greats as the F50 and P1 GTR, the rest of the pack was always going to have a hard act to follow. But reality, how many in a 9-12 car pack does anyone find all the cars worth their interest?

Rating this car dlc list compared to previous ones:

Quantity. 1* As it is the smallest yet.
Quality. 5*'s. As it has the most cars I have been interested in percentage wise.
Quality always wins for me.

More cars for the sake of more cars = dead rubber to me. From 7 car pack, 5 cars to tide me over for the next month and 2 I am not interested in is better than from a 9-12 car pack with the same 5 good ones and say additional 4-7 duds. Than we will be talking about waste of resources spent on them. PD cannot win. Only the most the hardest to please person would find none of these cars of interest, and we still have so many more to come. 1 month in the life of an online centric video game in this day and age is a small fraction of it's life.

Okay so now here are the possible likely cars:

1. BMW M3 Coupe '07 (N400)
2. Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 (N300)
3. Ferrari F50 '95 (N500)
4. GReddy Fugu Z (N300)
5. McLaren P1 GTR '16 (Gr. X)
6. Pontiac Firebird Trans Am '78 (N200)
7. Tesla Model S Signature Performance '12 (Gr. X)

Another possible candidate instead of the Model S featured in GT6 could probably be the Tesla Model S P90D (with Ludicrous Mode) '16. But either way it will still remain in Gr. X as electric vehicles, even hybrids, or pure cars without a gearbox (either CVT or direct drive), will be in that class.

Seems to me that GT Sport would be the latest game in a long while to feature Tesla vehicles recently since Forza hasn't included them (in both Motorsport 7 and Horizon 4).

I've had a Firebird livery prepped for months, inticipating the Trans Am getting added. I'll finally get to use it.:)

When I first looked in the Discovery section, I spotted a "screaming chicken" Firebird logo. Needless to say, I had to download it, but I haven't used it...yet.

...what if C2 is the latest 425hp model? It could easily be N400 if you ask me...

It is better not to have rain at all, then something just that doesn't work...
BTW there are not only wipers there, you have Heavy Rain and Intermediate tires too!

...TBH with you, many of the cars that we got are basically forgotten fast, and reason why is it like that is simply because PD's lack of balancing things and stupid grouping policy.
I do understand that some of the cars are prototypes and then there are those VGT cars. But why not making like:
R - race car (LMP1/2/3, GT500, GT3/GT300, GT4 etc)
V - VGT
D - dirt/rally car
N - normal car (all other cars)
And then you just apply PP (performance points - GT5/6) that were more effective then BoP in GTS.

At the end of the day, LMP cars will probably skyrocket to 850+pp, SuperGT's would be around 750s, GT3 would easily come to 600s, GT4s in 450-500s and all those smaller individual racing cars would get at least some way to fit either one or another of those ranks.
Make all cars have their respective Aero and Power/Weight (908HDi has 700hp in game, while it had 730hp in LMP class).
Then normal cars, or N group would be much much better balanced...
Also power and weight should not be percentage of something, but rather making it +/- 1hp and +/- 1kg (~2.2lbs). Again, better balance then BoP as it is now...

In the July update it also had 7 cars and nobody despaired of this, GTFan...

Thats because the July update did have more intriguing cars than this one did imo, this one has 2-3 cars that will end up being useless within a few days/weeks.

great additions to the game, but why more GR.X cars :indiff:

i think the sound of the P1 GTR will be comes from the VGT Mclaren car

TBH I don't see too much use of eV's in racing game, and also GTSport doesn't have properly simulated power usage. Look at the i3 for example, it will never run out of battery, it is stupid when you enable fuel consumption, but then again, how much would it be able to race at all? Then there are the LMP1 HY cars which have fully developed eV part (at least it works as it should).

Tesla S/3/X/Roadster, ...yeah I wan't them in game, but make them use energy if it is set. But then again, how long can you drive those cars? P100D can do lap on Nordschleife and that's it, one lap... Do you wanna have a car that can do like 25km and that's it?

I did mod for Assetto Corsa with Tesla S, it was great thing how a 2.2ton car can go like crazy and all, but 25km?!?!
...maybe this is reason why eV part is disabled on i3. Even F70 doesn't have it enabled as far as I know...

BTW Tesla is production model, it should be in N500 if it's P85, if they manage to get new P90D or even P100D then it is for sure N800 lol... But as I've said, there is no use of that 85/90/100 because if they are going to leave out the power consumption, ...maybe it'll end in Gr.X after all...
But there are EV racing cars and racing series. Even EV SUV racing series with the Jaguar E-Pace.

229 "cars to go". We'll see what happens.

I cannot believe PD have done this! They are planning on releasing an update that some people are disappointed with! This is a new low for PD...

Oh wait doesn’t every update disappoint some people because it doesn’t contain 20 cars that they like and 5 tracks that they deserve??!

Also the E92 is back, which I don't care for because I prefer the E60 but its a nice car.

I have been looking at the lower left car and have a niggling thought that it is not a Tesla Model S. Having said that, chances are I am totally wrong as virtually the entire community think it is the Tesla. It has an Aston Martin vibe about it and the first thing which crossed my mind was the DB7 GT.

After having done a quick job on it there appears to be a round fog light which I cannot place on the Tesla Model S. That could be artefact distortion from messing about with it.

Ok guys, pull up a billion photos of a Tesla with round fog lights and make me feel like a wally. I am used to it!

Proportions are all wrong for a long hooded Aston..

.. as a general rule... nobody suggesting a car that's against popular perception is ever proven to be right*

*I would like this statement to be proven incorrect as I'd much rather have a DB7!

I feel like the roof is too tall for it to be the DB7.
