Special Stage Route X: man I love testing on that track, so I am very pleased to have it return. Like the GTplanet article says, I wonder if we'll get the return of the 400m, 1000m and top speed tests.

I want the acceleration tests back too, but first they need to fix the tyre model, otherwise it's useless

I bet the Tuscan will be one of the standouts of the update. The 356 is the one I'm most excited for. The others will no doubt have their fans for. I know I won't be able to get the Aston Martin though cause I only have 5.6 million or so in the bank and I haven't felt like grinding in a while.

no, the quality of this part of the circuit is the same, whenever you watch on PC, smartphone or potato.

it's just badly modelled
I suppose I’ll have to agree to disagree with you on this one. Additionally, why would they show off something in a trailer that is modeled poorly?

Disappointing how many people say “it was what it was at launch and you paid for it”. This is the damage caveat emptor does, it makes people accept inadequate things for what they paid and completely release the seller from responsibility of providing quality. Game wasn’t complete at launch, they’re filling it out. Good on them. I say this as someone who delivers software for a living. If we can’t make features at release, hasn’t happened because I’m good ;), we have contingencies such as lowering rates or extending services. This is what good companies do.
That's your personal issue with not knowing what the game was at launch. I did, an e-sports focused title, and I didn't buy it until last month because of that. I knew GT Sport wasn't going to be my cup of tea at launch, I'm not much of a gamer these days and when I do it's rarely online.

If you bought it without knowing what you were buying and ended up dissapointed then im sorry to say that's your own poor judgment being exercised. At launch GT Sport had more content than a lot of racing games, but not as much as previous GT games (parting the Concept and Prologues) and I was well aware of that hence my choice. Regardless of that, the content it had was complete and suited the e-sports focus of the game at launch. My personal interest only really piqued when the GT League was added and then I saw it being updated with new events each month and my interest. That's my choice and I believe I judged it well because I am pleased with the purchase.

The game is complete, and there is nothing not free about the free DLC being freely made available each month.

Route X is not the track that I'm expecting, but memories of me doing top speed tests and that Acceleracers/Highway 35 childhood dream of reaching 300 MPH back in GT6. One thing they need to do is to introduce a special Route X BoP for Gr.3 cars (986 HP engines and a low-drag setup to reach speeds up to 260 MPH), fix the "bump draft = SR down" debacle, and some tyre model rework if Machine Test were to return...

Otherwise, Route X gets this theme, if that makes GT1 players feel nostalgic...

Just suits the e-sports doesn't mean that we can justify such lack of content. When GT Sport released, it didn't have career mode, it didn't have the same features from previous GT games, out of 163 cars, 30+ of them were fictional cars. Unfortunately most people here are stuck into GT Sport and don't play other games, so they are likely to support such a lack of content.

Think about Overwatch where the game suited the e-sport and when it was released, the actual game was exactly the same from the Open Beta, 20 characters, some maps, and a few game modes.

Good games speak for themselves (Portal, Gran Turismo 4, The Legend of Zelda, Uncharted, etc) and they don't need you to defend them (Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront, Mass Effect: Andromeda).

It was an e-sports game at launch. Anyone not aware of that when they bought it should not blame the game. It never pretended to be GT7, it was very clear about what it was and how many cars and tracks it had at launch. If that wasn't to your liking you didn't have to buy it. If you didn't check what the game was then it was your own fault.

To give an analogy, I like ice cream, I'm not that keen on bananas though. If I go into an ice cream parlour on holiday and point to a flavour without checking what it is and pay, then find out it's banana, is that the ice cream parlour fault? No. But if, they decide to give me a free flake, we'll I like flakes, that makes to scoop of banana ice cream not as bad as it was, the flake is still free and I was still a fool for buying banana flavour ice cream. GT Sport was like the banana ice cream at launch, I like Gran Turismo, but I'm not into e-sports and online gaming. But then PD gave us a free flake, the GT League, but we're also getting free sprinkles each month as well with new cars and tracks. They're not the e-sports the game started as, they are extra and they are free.

Well didn't expect Route X to return.

But hey at least it's a new track.

Gonna be fun doing drag meets, top speed runs, maybe a new place for online car show lobbies, and finally can do a proper Tomahawk X custom race.

Just waiting for someone to do this now in GTS.

I think the main problem with your point is the word was because its not anymore and PD made themselfs Crystal clear since day 0 and every one knew or at least should of known what where they singed for , if some of you were expecting much more or paid 60$ etc and didn't like it its your fault.

I wonder why...

Well, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a great example of a game that suits the e-sports and at the same time it had a LOT of content to the point that no one complained about that, compared to games that lack of content such as Overwatch or Call of Duty. Despite GT Sport being a more realistic title compared to the games mentioned above, PD could perfectly added a career mode to the base game, and launched the game later.

Not the track I would have chosen, but I'll have some fun with it regardless. First thing I'm going to do when the update is complete is the circuit experience, followed by a test drive in the Z8, then I'll take the tomahawk for a few laps around SSRX.

Why Route X? Just why? There isn't much of a use for it outside of top speed runs. The only thing that would make the track worthwhile is the crazy alternative layout which was cut from GT5 and GT6. At least we get the track free of charge, unlike GT5...

How on earth can Special Stage Route X be FIA appropriate? It’s just one big slipstream battle with no braking required.
Based on how PD has been adding new layouts to existing circuits, the addition of the infield “road course” version cannot be ruled out. It’s essentially done, so if they’re getting low on new circuits to shell out in the coming months then I wouldn’t be surprised to see it make an appearance at last.

While I’m still unsure as to whether or not that version would be any better for FIA racing, I don’t see why it matters.

We already have the “Tourist” version of the ‘Ring, and a bunch of rally tracks that go mostly unused. What’s wrong with having more tracks in the game for career mode (Like the Wind), or for benchmark testing, or just for fun for those who want to use it?

Put it this way, SSR-X isn’t taking the place in the GTS line-up from another track. Le Mans aside track additions haven’t followed any particular timetable. Development time and other factors will all factor in. SSR-X was probably just finished.

For all we know Spa is ready but they’re finalising licensing. Daytona maybe ready but they want to release it alongside NASCAR DLC. Silverstone could be wrapping up development, but they want to release it when the F1 season starts. Who knows.

What we do know is SSR-X caters for various GT communities who don’t have anything similar in the current track line-up. Be them photographers, tuners, drag racers. Or people who just want to use it as an online hang-out area.

Like Indianapolis or any other Super Speedway? In real life LMP and powerful single-seaters aren’t allowed on the Nordschleife. But it’s possible in GTS.

I'm guessing it was an easier track for them to update and release while other art teams finish/polish up either new fictional tracks or circuit tracks. Would have preferred SSR5 or 11 myself, but whatever. I usually go in to every update not expecting any kind of track or even new layout.

I'm surprised we've been getting tracks for every update for the past half year.

What bugs me most is we still don't have rain and wet weather conditions. :(

I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with this update, both the cars and the track. I’m digging the vintage cars, and the fact there’s no little econo-box thingies  I’m also really happy to finally get the 350Z back, that’s been my baby since GT5.

I’m probably one of the minority here who is happy to have SSRX back, purely for the fun in online lobbies. It’s also been one of my favourite photo locations in previous GTs. I’ll admit I would have preferred SSR7 to X, but I’m happy either way.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to manually activate the system and check for updates from your phone? I want to see if I can get the update downloaded before I get home from work.

The true meaning behind the return of SSR-X is that, this is the first original ficitonal track series coming back to GTS.
the "Special Stage" series logo marks the further possibility of the return of Route 5, route 7 and so on.
We can see Deep Forest, Grand Valley, Autumn Ring...etc in the future.

That's the point.

I waited a year to buy cuz I knew before it was on the shelf it would be a online racing focused title and NOT a numbered GT game. I expect to see GT7 on PS4 that will be a full GT game. I paid $30 and I'm getting way more than my moneys worth.

GTS is closer to GT5P than any other GT title. Comparred to GT5P Ohhh my Gawd we spoiled with content plus more stuff each month, forget about it...

I was expecting the SSR series to be rebranded into Tokyo Expressway and this happens! I'm curious what this will mean for the other mainline SSR's that are much more in line with the metropolitan highway theme.

As long as they're different in layouts it won't be a problem, right?

There won't be "too many road courses", "too many closed circuits" will they? :D
