Update 2.08 Now Available with Big Changes!

Tire wear is MUCH better. In the sense that tire LIFE is now something with meaning. For instance, I was able to go 12 laps (offline and online) on a set of soft tires for ALMS series in my Bentley Speed 8, I just did 11 laps (offline) and still had over 90% tire life. I was able to get 1:14's for 10 laps straight barring a screw up.

First one to suggest any kind of adjustment to my system get's pooped on by a pigeon as soon as he leaves the house!!

This guy posted this in the DLC update thread.

Wow just wow PD fail

Aero test :
Petronas SC430
Mid range turbo
Power 94.2% for 500 hp @ 6400-7200 rpm

Aero_____Max speed 2.07____Max speed 2.08
30/35________188.8_______________193.4
40/65________184.7_______________182.2

So the aero change is confirmed.

I found a slight glitch at the Speed Test. When I exited the test from the pause menu after takeoff, I retained full control of the car instead of being brought to the Speedtest menu. I had to press start again to return to the menu.

Look at this picture-

that's after 10 laps at Madrid in offline mode practice in a Bentley Speed 8 @500hp/950kg with max d/f! For reference, the same car, the same tune, the same practice settings before this update I was only able to do 12 laps MAX before the tires were shot.

EDIT: this was RACING SOFT TIRES

Ok, so presuming thats on RS (Correct if wrong, I tested my Peugeot 908 on RS and they seemed invincible) how do they compare to the other compounds? (Would do it myself, but gotta get ready for work..)

Just tried out the new clutch "adjustment"

Besides I think the engagement point is lower on the pedal movement it is exactly the same.

Checking the change log I release that is what they stated "response" has been adjusted. I was hoping for some real clutch improvements however.

So we know the aero's definitely improved (imo at least) but who's going to start showing us some comparative lap times? Seems like running downforce at low for tracks like Le Mans may be more benificial and something around the middle for tracks like Suzuka. I'm really interested in seeing if full downforce will no longer be the fastest way around every track, I imagine around Monaco it still would be... Can't wait to get home!

Edit:
btw, where's the thread for people testing the new suspension changes?

Would someone mind to pm me when the servers are back online. Me and a group of friends are in my lounge. We got in my lounge right before the update so we are hiding out till the servers go back online
Thanks

I ran full downforce on the Bentley at the same specs and all that before in 2.07, my best around Madrid was 1:14.8, post 2.08 my best was 1:14.3. A half second per lap difference.

this was RACING SOFT TIRES

On softs? too much, let's complain again!

Did 50 laps on hards, ran out of fuel, tires still had some juice to squeeze (maybe 10-15 laps but you'd be running with limited grip) at the Indy 500 with the Oreca Peugeot.
Before the patch it would barely get 25 maybe 30 depending on how hard you drove.

Madrid isnt exactly a fast track though.. Testing on High Speed ring might be a good test... I know that running Max DF there ends up the quickest prior to 2.08. Post-2.08 hopefully has fixed that a bit..

If I can improve by a half a second with the same tune at a track like Madrid, that's saying a lot IMO. Especially since the lap times are only in the 1:14's. That's a good chunk of time.

Ran out of fuel before tires?!?! Halleluja! Splash and dash here we come!

But wow, I have such mixed feelings about this 'cause it makes hards pretty much obsolete for the regular race lengths my league runs (around an hour). I think I'd still rather run hards because softs feel like crap on most cars, but now we have to get used to one stopping, maybe even no stopping :embarrassed:.

Thanks for the time reference btw Seth. Times don't seem to've changed too drastically.

Pretty much taking tire wear strategy back out of racing altogether other than in extremely long events. That's not an improvement in my books.

How does HSV sounds?

Doesn't sound anything close to the real thing. Sounds more like the other NSX's already in the game.
