Update 2.08 Now Available with Big Changes!

US PSN Store Updates. None of the new GT5 DLC to be found. US PSN, you suck

Pretty much taking tire wear strategy back out of racing altogether other than in extremely long events. That's not an improvement in my books.

Thats an improvement towards realism however, the whole point of taking harder tires with less grip is to benefit from it in longer races. the whole point of using Tire A instead of Tire B in a short race is because of better lap times, while Tire B is suited for endurance races instead.

Now seriously, I was tired of only being able to go 3 all out laps around Le Mans before needing to switch tires. and that was with traction control and ABS, I can only imagine how horrible it was if you were one of the elitist racers who runs with no aids at all.

If there is anyone here who knows Japanese, can you tell me if the GT5 DLC made it to that store? If not, I shall laugh at PSN's fail on all three continenets.

This. Didn't make for much of an immersive experience. Now that race can actually feel like a 24 hour race and likewise, every series race in most leagues will now actually feel like a legit race.

I'll third that. I don't care at all for tire wear strategy when the only reason it exists is because it was artificially inflated. And I do a lot of endurance races, so this is one of the best patches that the game has gotten for me (depending on how well the new aero works).

My GT-One can do 10 laps on soft fronts, medium rears. 11 laps on medium fronts, and hard rears.

Power was at 750 HP, and transmission was stock beyond top speed set to 254 MPH. TCS was at 3. I have a feeling I can eek out one more lap on the RS/RM set up with TCS set to 5, but the limiting factor is fuel.

Way better than the 6 laps max I was getting before.

This is was on the La Sarthe 2009 chicanes.

Really, I think all PD has done is reset the tire wear rate to the vanilla GT5 tire wear rate.

Hosting a "no collision" room right now. It's actually a lot of fun.
Yea, I'm the guy who joined, raced at Deep Forest and left. I can see that it will a great way to keep out rammers, eliminate lag's impact and have some nice clean racing in random open rooms. As I said before leaving however, I'm just not a fan of it. The main reasons I don't like it is that everybody is see through. I understand that is and always was how GT5 tells people that it's safe to drive through someone, but it looks weird. Secondly, it just doesn't feel like a race when overtaking isn't a real issue.
Nothing against those who enjoy it, but I'm personally not a fan.

On another note, I'd like to talk about the tire wear....

For the league racing I do, races nearly never go longer than an hour, and we've spent a lot of time setting up races so tyre wear and choice are issues. Now, a lot of that work is gone and we'll be back to how we were in the first place. I like that it will make really long races more realistic, but eliminating pit strategy from mid length races gets a 👎 from me.

EDIT: With the no collision system, I would love one that only works for a set time frame (say 10 seconds to take out the first corner rammers) or a set number of laps (pace car anyone?). That's how I'd like to see it implemented 👍

No, the description for the no collision feature states that the slipstream effect is disabled as well.

It's basically a free run race with ghost cars.
Thanks GTPorsche. I was kinda hoping the draft still worked for tracks like Daytona.

DLC aint in US stores, just took a look.
Still can't use the clutch for drifting, only notice is that it engages lower into the pedal.

10 laps at Sarthe is great. At that rate, with real life power levels 11 or 12 laps is possible per stint on the same tires. This is equal to what the Toyota and Audi were doing this year at LeMans.

Weren't they triple even quad stinting tres and pitting just for fuel? If we can replicate that, I'll be impressed.

DLC is still unavailable in Aus PSN store at the minute. Just sayin...

Well, you have to pit for fuel at the end of 12 laps irl, so if you're doing that in game you have no choice but to change tires as well. :D

Well... Why IRL do they not change tires every pitstop? To save time in the pits and tire wear was unbelievable. In the game, we can change tires three or four times in the time it takes to fill the tank :P. eee gads

I was so shocked at the reports of the HSV sounding really bad, that I just went and downloaded the update for myself to see on my own, even though I already started getting ready for bed. Sad to say it really does sound horrible!

The cars sound different to me. My BMW V12 LMR sounds different. I tinkered with it before the update, and post update it definitely sounded new. Maybe it was the 'wing noise' effect, but it sounded more exaggerated

Tire squeal sounds different, more progressive. The pitch of the tire squeal goes up more dramatically as the tires reach their limit. Good thing IMO.

I hope the tire wear goes up so we can crank out some decent nurburg enduro races, but I did get to test out the aero and ride height on Speed Route X, and the front downforce seems close to the same as before, but the rear is worth a lot more mph's down a straight so maybe there will be aero tuning for once in this game. It was very unrealistic to have way faster lap times at Monza with full downforce, ya dig'

Ride height now slows your car down by a car length or so give or take.

Did you use "search" or just A-Z?

Both as well as searched the other regional stores, all came up with no new DLC.

Now I have to actually wait until after I get home from college to get the darn things.
