Update 2.08 Now Available with Big Changes!

I must say that the tire wear feels better now. Now I can do 8 laps at Circuit de la Sarthe in a Le Mans Prototype with a set of racing hard tires before the rear tires become about half worn out. Before the patch I could only manage 3-4 laps before the LMPs became impossible to control. I haven't checked how soft tires compare but now it's at least possible to maintain a good momentum over several laps without having to worry about pit stops.

I've tested with the peugeot 908 , 8/9 laps with racing soft , with hard tyres you have to pit because of gas .

So the tyre wear changes are across the whole game and not just in the endurance races as the original notes suggested? That's good to know. What about the part about Formula cars, is that true they haven't been affected?

Where did you race for 2+ hours and what state were the tyres in at the end?

At what point did you get to 50% wear?

Tsukuba 4-hour, lightly modified '89 Eunos Roadster, front tires reached 50% at 1h:30 minutes.

It was a good race. I built up a massive lead, got bored, intentionally crashed the AI (because AI, that's why) and finished second. I'm an idiot.

That seems to be the case. I haven't tested a formula car yet.

Nice to know tire wear seems to have been fixed, those of us (myself included) who enjoying doing longer races should be happy about that.

I was in a room running Ferrari F1's and the tyre wear seems the same as it was last week.. Untouched it would appear..

They already had ridiculous tyre life as was... Why make it even longer?

They did? I can't say I've ever driven a formula car in a race with wear on but bear in mind real F1 tyres, depending on their hardness can last a long time.

Hmm.. Somewhere I have a photo of a test I did with my F10 on RS around TGTT to show the tyre wear... Was quite a fair few laps with still quite a lot of tyre left... I'll have a look and see if I can find it...

Why, is the question though.

They would be changing the racing compound tyres from "unreally grippy and semi-durable" to "unreally grippy and very durable". Example of a F2007 tuned to "match" real life, notice the tyre choice...

another example lap on Nurb GP/F, a few seconds off the RL pace

The comfort ( / sport) tyres are quite capable & durable as is, probably to the extent of real F1 tyres pre-pirelli

Looks like they added new objects to some of the tracks.

For example on Monza right as you come out of the puts on the left that tower thing i am pretty sure that wasn't there.

Disabling collisions = a field full of ghosted car. What a ridiculous setting! I would have rather seen an option to ghost any cars traveling in the wrong direction instead of ghosting everyone.

A mind numbingly stupid & unwanted addition to "The Real Driving Simulator". How about something useful like an option to ban the Power Limiter? Or maybe a filter to find Shuffle rooms instead of trawling through all Normal Race rooms?

PD! Y U No Common Sense?

:ouch:

Really? Increasing tyre endurance is one of the suggestions of the GT6 suggestion thread. Until this point, I hadn't even heard of the claim that GT5 tyres already lasted too long.

Do you drive endurance races in GT5 much?

That's because it didn't last long before at all. There was no reason for the previous update to make racing slicks terrible. They last way longer than they have in the previous update in real life

I think he might have been referring to Simon asking why PD didn't extend the length of the F1 tire wear.

Or, "The F1 cars already had ridiculous tyre life as was... Why make it even longer?"

Oh ok

I run in a NASCAR league on here and when we went to Motegi a few weeks ago people were struggling to hit 22/23 laps solo. One of our guys just went on and said he had about 80% tyre left after 20 laps. Big change.

*turns collisions off in qualifying*
*turns collisions on for racing*

Problem? *insert trollface*

Actually that's exactly where I was thinking it would be nice addition.

We now don't have to run qualifying in Free-Run. We can run a 'ghost race' which gives me a replay to verify dirty driving AND no traffic problems.

👍

Do the draft options do anything to change whether drafting is in free run mode?

There is a thread up already you see it yet? Supposedly there is drafting in free run. But as pointless as it is in where the thread is... it is in the drag form

What is the "previous update" you are referring to and how did it "make racing slicks terrible"?

I'm essentially asking Nismo34 is he is serious in stating that, up until today and update 2.08, racing tyres were lasting too long. The exact opposite was what I had been hearing.
